CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR

You dare not say I'm picking on weak monsters anymore

~

He didn’t really know why, but when he read that blue screen

He just started running not sure what ‘delete’ could mean

He ran into the woods farther than he had ever gone

And even when he tired, still he kept slowly moving on

Achievement: Just Go

I do wish I could say that I felt sorry for you, boy

But seeing you like this, alone, I can’t help but enjoy

Hopefully whatever that great ‘System’ does comes soon

What better time to die than on a sunny afternoon

Twig ignored the message and sat down beneath a tree

He was far too hungry to lament his destiny

He rustled through his heavy bag but then noticed something

“It’s pretty full, but it felt so light while I was running”

Achievement: Full of Yourself

Don’t get cocky brat, you’re still the weakest guy ever

I just can’t touch your stats and make them any lower

Please don’t bother training though, you’d only make me laugh

You’ll still wind up dead in at most a day and a half

Twig was hurt by what he read but something still seemed off

The message was specific for a god who’d only scoff

He knew little of the gods, but how could he know that

None could say when in the future their death would be at

Just as he was going to ask what the god could know

He heard a terrifying sound that shook the ground below

He realized he hadn’t paid attention in his haste

And all that he could do was draw the dagger at his waste

A creature known to many who have led a hero’s life

A bear with hide like iron and horns sharper than a knife

They are territorial and hunt their prey alone

Known to eat their prey right down to the very last bone

The beast was of a level that would cause no hero fear

Unfortunately for young Twig, no heroes would appear

But as he read its status he had a pleasant surprise

“At least the monster’s status still looks normal to my eyes”

Achievement: ‘Eyes’ on the Prize

You crack me up you idiot, what do you mean “my eyes”

You’ve only got the one, or have you yet to realize

Anyways, I guess we’ve come to the end of the line

I’m sure this moment will be a new favourite of mine

He almost had to laugh but one eye was more than enough

He would die a hero, free of any curse or buff

And so he charged the Horn Bear with the knife in his right hand

This was good enough a place to make his final stand
