《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Chapter 22

'Jet, we need to talk.' Alex's voice was strangled with worry.
'This really isn't a good time.' Jet looked around the arena. Everyone was even quieter than in the last fight.
'Jet, this is serious. You laughed while killing that guy.' Alex's concerned voice rang out in Jet's mind.
'Oh, I was laughing at myself. I was about to fight someone with a sword while they still had their magic. It was pure stupidity since I had Fate. Good thing it was charged already. Man, fighting would have been tough without Fate. Maybe they'll get off my back now.' Jet realizes what that must have looked like. He smacked his face with his hand. 'Shit, that must have looked evil. I must have looked like a true monster there.'
'Ok, at least you're not going mad. I don't want to stay with someone who enjoys killing that much. Killing another person should not be fun.' Alex decided to keep a closer eye on Jet.
'That being said, I better keep up the act.' Jet raised his hand. "You think to bring me down." He let out a chuckle. "If you did, then you all have failed." Jet turned and walked out of the arena. He found Fiona waiting for him. "I need a change of clothes before the next match."
Fiona looked scared out of her mind. "Why, you won't be fighting again. You could head up to the stands to watch Stix's fight."
"You know why, so don't play." Jet walked right by the woman. "Don't worry. I know the way now. I'll get my own costume around." He said without stopping.
'Judging from your thoughts. You do plan to act like a bad guy. But, you need to work on evil dialogue.' Alex said.
Jet reached the room and immediately took his clothes off. Sure enough, all his magic worked afterward. "Good, I will never put those clothes back on again. Alex, let's go hunt down some clothes more suitable for me."
"You got it." Alex jumped out of him and to the closet.
When they got done, Jet almost looked like he did before leaving the Kingdom of Hope. He found the closest thing to match his red, gold, and blue uniform. Alex had even found a similar cape. Of course, they had to slightly modify the cape so his sword would work. "I guess it's time to watch Stix fight. If his match isn't over yet."
"Yeah, we did take some time to get ready." Alex hopped back into Jet's body. 'Let's get going.'
'I feel like you're using me like a personal ride.' Jet turned to leave the room.
'I could walk around if you want to explain to people about me.' Alex joked.
'Soon you can walk around.' Jet walked back to where he had left Fiona. To his surprise, she was where he had left her. "So, where is my seat?"
Fiona looked Jet up and down. "What are you wearing?"
"I'm a knight, so I should look the part." Jet gave her a carry-on motion. Then thought to Alex. 'Hey, when are you going to tell me how to make a magical arm?'

'Oh, I had forgotten all about that. Why not make a concrete arm or something for now?' Alex suggested.
Jet looked at the wall, which happened to be made out of concrete. He took a layer off the wall to create an arm. It definitely was not like his original. He didn't realize how an arm moved without thinking too much. Now he had to think about every movement for it to move. He had made a water arm before, but he didn't remember if it had felt the same. He figured it would take time to get used to moving the arm around.
"Please go through here and take a seat." Fiona pointed at a door and walked away, saying nothing else.
Jet didn't care and went out to sit down. It was about time he got to see a fight. This would be his first time, and he was in both tournaments. When he looked out at Stix to see how the fight was going, he frowned. Stix did not look in good shape. He looked to be about to lose his fight, possibly even die. No, he decided the woman Stix was fighting meant to kill him. Jet frowned as he watched the one-sided fight. Why was Stix not giving up? 'Hey Alex, is that woman manipulating sound?'
Alex did not answer immediately but after some time. 'Yes, I think Stix is trying to give up. It looks like he has yelled something a few times, no and no sound comes out.'
Jet had to admit Stix wasn't too bad of a fighter. However, he was completely outclassed in this fight. Jet didn't understand why they were trying so hard to kill Stix. It had to be some family dispute. Then Jet's thoughts wandered to the roulette curse. 'Yeah, I bet his family has a lot of enemies.'
'I should point out that if Stix dies. How will you get the curse suppression item he will make for you.' Alex alerted Jet to a serious problem.
Jet nearly stood up. 'Crap, we have to save him.' He had no clue how to go about saving Stix. His magic could reach the fight. It would be too obvious. So he watched the fight carefully for a while and found a possible solution. There were times when the woman would use sound to knock down a curse. Depending on the curse, it would explode enough to cause a small dust cloud. Jet did not think as he waited for the next attack like that. When the next explosion hit, he used his own explosion to create a large dirt cloud. Hopefully, nobody would question it too much.
'This is a terrible idea.' Alex said.
Jet teleported to the ground in front of Stix. Nobody could see him from the stands. However, the woman had quite a surprised look on her face. He did not give her time to react. Jet released an explosive fireball at her. It packed a lot of power. He could not go halfway. She had to die. If she lived, he was sure that he would be arrested. As for Stix, Jet hoped that he wouldn't talk. After all, he was down here to save his life. Once the fireball went off, she flew at the arena wall, well, like a fireball. Jet tried to teleport out before the dust cleared to find he couldn't. So he created a hole to dove down into. Moving earth around seemed to be getting easier for him.

"Stix has pulled it off. He has beaten Lady Milan." Gegol yelled.
Jet listened while hiding and concluded. Houy was a way better announcer than Gegol. He was certain Houy would have caught him. Not that he was certain that he hadn't been seen yet. Once he could teleport back, he almost went to the stands. But thought better and went inside the building. He walked back to his seat to see what was going on. Stix stood looking at Milan's body. He seemed to feel Jet's gaze and looked back at him. Jet kept a completely neutral face. Then he wondered if there were any cameras in the place. They did have television. It was one more thing for him to worry about.
"Good news, everyone, Lord Joy will be here for the final fight tomorrow. Stix, please go see about any medical treatment you may need." Jet listened to Gegol. She sounded relieved that Stix had lived.
Jet didn't wait around and went back to his room. Alex hopped out of him to stretch. "Alex, we need to prepare to leave."
"Yeah, your recklessness knows no bounds."
"Hopefully, I can still get the curse suppression item from Stix. You know, before we get caught." Alex sighed.
"Don't lump me in on your problems. I had nothing to do with the situation. But still, we should make a plan for a fast exit." Alex jumped up on a couch to lie down.
Jet sat next to her, deep in thought. After a few minutes, he huffed out. "I can't think of anything."
"We will think of something." Alex heard the door click, and she disappeared.
Stix walked in, looking very nervous. He looked to be in terrible shape. "Why aren't you getting treatment?" Jet asked.
"I, I need to talk with you." Stix sounded scared out of his mind.
"Shut the door, please." Jet watched as Stix complied. Afterward, he put up a wind barrier to keep sound from leaving the room. "Alright, it's safe to talk. No one will be able to hear us now."
"What do you mean? They have recording devices all over the place." Stix waved his hand around the room.
"You know that I'm more than I seem. Trust me, no one can hear us. As for video, I have no clue." Jet had no way of knowing where the cameras were. But no one has come after him for the guard.
"No, they will not put video recorders around. The privacy policies here are very strict on that. However, Lord Joy's people do listen to everything." Stix looked around the room worriedly.
"Joy is a piece of shit. Garbage that I will squash under my foot. I'll rip his dick off and shove it up his."
"Stop, don't say more," Stix shouted.
Jet broke out in laughter at Stix's horrified face. "As I said, no one can hear us. We can wait a few minutes if you want." He walked over to the couch to sit down.
Stix did stand and waited for the guards to barge in. But after a few minutes, he visibly relaxed. "Lord Joy, no, Joy is the biggest problem with this place. He's a scourge on us all."
"That's all you want to say about him?" Jet asked.
"There is so much to say about that piece of shit. But, it would be a waste of breath to describe him." Stix turned to Jet. "Ford, I don't want to die."
If Jet hadn't been sitting, he would have stepped back at that remark. He wondered why Stix thought that Jet wanted to kill him. Then remembered how many people he had killed already. 'Yeah, I can see why he is afraid of you.' Alex said helpfully.
Stix continued. "I know that if you hadn't interrupted the fight, I would be dead. Ford, I don't want to fight you tomorrow."
"I promise not to kill you." Jet liked Stix. He hadn't given Jet a reason to kill him.
"That is nice to know. But Lord Joy will be there tomorrow, and he will want a show. Me personally, I want to drop out." Stix explained.
"But thanks to me, Joy said we couldn't drop out. So we need to put on a good show." Jet said.
"It will be no weapons allowed tomorrow. But that isn't the problem. Votes are already close for us to have a death match. Not only that, your golems won't be allowed as well." Stix counted off the new rules.
"Wait, wait, wait, how many rules can be placed on a match?" Jet stopped Stix for clarification.
"There isn't a limit. Anyone can cast one vote on each special rule. Anyone can make a special rule, but most never get any votes." Stix tried to explain something everyone knew about.
"Great, what a hassle." Jet complained.
"On another note, catch." Stix tossed Jet a coin with a small chain going through it. Jet caught it with ease. "Where that at night to keep the curse from triggering. I finished it this morning."
Jet looked at the coin. It had turtles sunbathing by a pond. "Why is there turtles drawn on the coin?"
"I was bored after I had finished. The engraving on the back is for the curse suppression. So you need to sleep tonight." Stix waved Jet off.
Jet couldn't take his eyes off the turtles. This was the second coin he had gotten with turtles. It was probably all a coincidence. "Not sure if I'll be able to fall asleep."
"Too bad you have to fall asleep. I'll need to make sure it works." Stix said.
"Fine, but now onto the real problem." Jet pointed at the chair across the table. "It's time to plan for the match tomorrow."

Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry.
