《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Chapter 23

et didn't know what to think as he ate his last meal. Either he would pull off what he had planned or possibly die. He would go back to Earth if he had to. What was amazing is no one had bothered to check on him, except for the person who had brought him some food. He had told Jet to stay in the room until someone came to get him. Fiona hadn't even shown up to make sure he had gotten dressed. Not that he would trust her at this point. Then again, he had not trusted her to start with. There is only one person he would ever truly trust. Well, there were three, possibly only two people now.
"Jet, this is going to go horribly wrong." Alex jumped out of him, landing on the table.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence." Too bad Jet didn't have any confidence in the plan as well. All it would take is one step to get back to Earth. Get back to Amanda.
"What is calling you to the Tower? Even I can feel the tug it has on you." Alex said.
"It's time to start the match." Jet looked over to Alex. He hadn't heard someone enter the room. Of course, he had a wind wall up at all times now so that they couldn't listen to him. Jet turned to look at the person and nodded. Alex was hidden by him.
"Got it." Alex hopped back into Jet before he got up. Jet followed the guy to the arena and found Stix waiting for him.
"Before you enter, no weapons allowed." The guy graciously asked Jet.
"Left them in the room." Jet lied. He had stayed up late trying something if he could send his bones inside of him. Why not his weapons? The biggest problem was it felt like a strong tug on his body now, as if his soul would burst.
"I'll have to pat you down." Jet shrugged and let the man do his job. "Ok, you may go out."
Jet walked to the center to stand in front of Stix. He waited a few seconds before calling out. "Hey, where is my introduction?" After a few seconds Gegol started his introduction. Jet completely ignored her. "Are you ready?"
"No, did you get any sleep?" Stix asked.
"Yes, about two hours. Hopefully, that was long enough to test the curse dampener." Jet stopped talking to listen to Gegol.
"The special rules for the fight are. No weapons, Ford cannot summon golems." Jet wasn't too sure how that became a rule. "To make it more of a fair fight, Ford can't cover the arena in earth spikes." Jet felt a pattern here. "There will be no soul magic aloud."
Jet looked at Stix. "You know soul magic?"
Stix looked at Jet, confused. "No, I can't."
Jet froze and looked toward Lord Joy. He was looking right at Jet. Gegol had continued. "I don't know about this rule. Ford is not allowed to Jump to another world." Even this rule had Gegol confused. "Ford will now show who he is. I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen. Lord Joy handed me this card this morning.

Lord Joy stood up and looked down at Jet. "So how about it. Show everyone here who you are."
Alex decided the cat was out of the bag and leaped out. She stood at twice Jet's height. "Well, I think your plan isn't working."
"Yeah, a little too quickly. I'm pretty sure that Joy was supposed to find out during the match." Jet complained inwardly about how wrong his plan went. Stix was supposed to be fighting him before this happened.
"Now that you are disarmed. I will make you pay for killing my son." Lord Joy waved a hand, and people surrounded Jet.
"So I'm not going to fight with Stix?" Jet was relieved that he wouldn't have to go through with his plan. But how come he found out about his son now? The initial plan was for him to find the dead guard. It would be a lot of work to make it look like Stix had vaporized him in a fight. But the problem was, he was going to sneak into the Alteras Tower when Stix was taken in.
"It's quite simple. I plan to steal your power. You are the first to answer the Tower's call." Lord Joy explained.
Jet took a step back. 'Steal my power. Is that even possible?'
'To be safe, let's get out of here.' Alex said.
Jet's eyes grew wide as his Jump didn't activate. The Tower's eye seemed to glow as he tried. "Sorry, boy, I got the Alteras Tower's defense up now. Nowhere to run."
The people around him did something, and the ground shook. Jet knew it was some kind of explosion about to go off. He almost teleported immediately but grabbed Stix before he did. He ended up right next to a man that looked like Stix. "Here, take Stix and get out of here."
"Ford, no, my father is Lord Joy's, right-hand man." Stix got between Jet and his father.
"I'm not too worried. Joy tried to kill his son. Since I have saved you twice, I think your father will let me be." Jet prepared for a fight, just in case.
"Listen to me, boy. Lord Joy has multiple powers at his command. He meant what he said, Lord Joy can and will steal your power." Stix's father looked down at his son. "Let's go. Ford is right. Lord Joy has gone too far. You can count on my family not joining this fight."
Jet nodded and let them go. He looked down at the arena and frowned. The place was a giant crater. "I thought he wanted to steal my power?"
"He definitely has a weird way of going about that," Alex said.
"There he is." Jet looked to see a man pointing at him.
"Jet, this is very bad." Alex looked up into the sky.
Jet looked up as well. "Yeah, I don't think very is a strong enough word. Maybe extraordinarily bad." The sky was full of hovering aircraft.
"Jet, how much longer until you can teleport?" Alex asked.

"Too long. Can you take the aircraft?" Jet looked back down at the man who pointed at him. "I need to take care of a few people. That man may be able to track me."
"Possibly, but they do have recording devices."
"Then I'll take care of that." Jet reached his hand out, and a ball of lightning sparked around him.
"You know I could deal with the electronics." Alex pointed out.
"Best if they don't know what you're bringing to the table. Also, I much rather not get hit with lightning." Jet waited for Alex to fly off. Once out of the way, he sent an electrical surge through the place. It knocked the power out in the city. Then he turned and walked through a wall to hide. "Thank you all for using concrete. Easier for me to walk through."
Jet walked down the hall deep in thought. 'Why do I even bother making plans? So much for sneaking into the Tower.' He pulled his weapons from his inner world. Turning on his magic sense, he sighed. The place was so full of magic he could hardly see the people. He tried to see if he could change his sight somehow. After thirty seconds of trying different magic through his eyes, he saw heat instead, which didn't help as much as he would have wanted. There were a lot of heat sources in the giant arena.
Two people walked around the corner. They screamed and ran away. Jet let them go. He was not about to kill unarmed people. Too bad their screams had got the attention of some people who wanted him. Jet took back the thought of killing unarmed people. These two's hands were glowing. He was a bit curious about what they were going to do. But not enough to let them try. He almost threw some fireballs at them. Then went with some concrete spikes. Looking at the floor, he made a hole to jump down the floor. The floor looked to be about a twenty-five foot drop. His body enhancements should be able to handle the fall. After all, he got thrown quite a ways by a tree. Not only that, he has been doing a lot of stupid stuff lately. So without another thought, he stepped into the hole and landed on his feet. He was extremely happy that it had worked. Now he planned to test and see how far he could go later.
'Alex, report in.' Jet asked as he walked out of the Colosseum.
'I've taken out three of the aircraft. But, I've taken some damage.' Alex reported.
'How have you taken damage? Aren't you purely magic based?' Jet looked up to find her. The scene was out of a video game. It looked like lasers were flashing around the sky. Alex moved swiftly through the air, dodging. 'You look busy. Tell me about it later.'
'Ok, and a group of people is heading towards you.' Alex said.
Jet didn't need to be warned. They were already in sight. When he saw the first spell, he went into overdrive. He did not know what the spell was exactly. But the air seemed to be rippling, and having already seen someone use sound magic. He sent an air blade at the ripple. It exploded, leaving a small crater in the ground. The people chasing him fell to the ground from the impact. Jet only had to take a step back to keep his balance. Then the ground shook and cracked. He made a soul plate to stand on. The guy who had placed his hand on the ground looked at Jet wide-eyed. Jet tried to use earth magic on them now, but the other man's magic seemed to get in the way. So he teleported over to them. Jet stabbed three of them before they even knew what had happened.
"How does this kid move so fast?" One of them complained.
Jet didn't even bother to figure out what he had said. With the world moving so slowly to him, what the person had said made no sense. Now if he could figure out where the other three people had gone, they must have had teleported since they disappeared without a trace. So Jet was contemplating leaving his overdrive until he saw something flashing in the corner of his vision. When he got a good look at the object, he wished he hadn't wasted his teleport. One of the aircraft was falling right at him. Out of habit, he reached up a hand and used a different element of magic. A black hole appeared in the sky. Jet watched as the aircraft slowly broke apart, disappearing into the black hole. 'Great time to figure out something new. Too bad my body feels like it's on fire now.' The new spell had put a ton of strain on his magic cores. At this point, he realized that the spell had also turned off his overdrive. Also, he had a slight headache coming on.
'Jet, another team is heading your way.' Alex informed him.
'It is handy you being up there. Try not to drop another plane on my head.' Jet took off in the direction of the Alteras Tower, and now that he got a good look at the Tower. The red gem over the giant door was glowing.
'I am trying. But these idiots are hitting each other while shooting at me. Two of them collided with each other while you were still inside.' Alex could be seen in the sky ripping one of the aircraft in half. It didn't even look like she was getting their numbers down.
Jet, in the meantime, was staring down a row of tanks. The tips of their guns glowed as they all aimed at him. Now his thoughts were, 'Why hadn't I saved my teleport?'

Sometimes my voice dies in my throat, buries itself beneath waves of crippling suffocation, burns itself out as cold hands tear at my laced skin. I have smiled while my eyes have cried and pleaded, my wrists numb, my lips wobbling and blue, and stars escaping this dark night that I'm trapped in. I long for a darkness that gives way to light. But I do feel the warmth of petals gathering and scattering in my cold bones, and imagine the touch and the sweetness of a kiss, and my heart rises to the surface of this sea and finds a sky painted by passing artists remaining far above our heads. I'm breathing out all the words I've kept locked under the pages of my breaking mind. And by doing so, I'm going to heal.TRIGGER WARNINGS: depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal thoughts, OCD, panic attacks
