"Our universe grants every soul a twin -- a reflection of themselves -- the kindred spirit -- And no matter where they are or how far away they are from each other -- even if they are in different dimensions, they will always find one another. This is destiny; this is love."

You thanked the cleaners, who just so happened to be cleaning your room at the time, for their services before taking the rest of your things and leaving. You thanked the lady at the front desk before walking out the door with your suitcase. It was already getting dark, the sun already halfway below the horizon.
Cursing under your breath upon the realisation that you'd probably miss your train, you ran as fast as you could. Your suitcase was almost dragging behind you, tripping up your steps, and at some point you stopped just to kick the shit out of it.
By the time you got to the train station, you regretted not conjuring up the idea to rip someone from their car GTA-style sooner. You had missed your train by three minutes. Three. Damn. Minutes. It was basically dark now, the sun barely visible, and you collapsed onto one of the benches in utter exhaustion.
"Should've just beat my suitcase once I got on the train," you mumbled to yourself, grabbing out your phone to check when the next train would come.
Nothing for the next hour.
You huffed, dropping your suitcase, glaring at it. "Thanks for that, bitch."
"You're lucky. You just missed rush hour."
Frowning, you turned around to look at Hawks, who was sitting on the other side of the bench. Watching as he looked out ahead of him to the other side of the platform, you began to notice things you didn't before.
Sitting together in silence, you noticed the way he had his forearms resting on his knees, his back almost hunched. You saw the dark circles under his eyes, the way his eyelids drooped over his eyes. Not even his wings were up right, slightly fallen down.
Guilt hit you like a punch in the face. Why didn't you ever think before you spoke or acted? Hawks, even though he wasn't originally planning to, gave up his time and tried his best to teach you things even when he had absolutely no idea how to train your quirk. You said right to his face that you learnt nothing, when it was a complete lie.

He had made sure you were safe after sending you out to the convenience store, even when it was your "punishment". He even came after you to the train station to check your safety even after being frustrated at you. And he had every right to be annoyed with you.
Everything he said to you was right. You were still just a kid. You were still learning. You couldn't take matters into your own hands and judge danger yet without the proper training, and you were acting like you could.
When you first met Hawks on your first day of your internship, you thought of him as just a lazy hero. But actually thinking about it, he must have worked real fucking hard to gain his position at 22. And now he was having to deal with a grouchy and off-the-rails teen who thought she could conquer the world.
You sighed, closing your eyes. You were so damn ashamed. In a soft, defeated tone, you said, "I'm sorry."
"I know," he replied in the same soft tone. When you looked at him with confusion, his lips twitched up into a weak smirk, "I can see it on your face, (L/N)."
You huffed out a humourless laugh, shaking your head and looking ahead of you. "You're right. Everything you said was right."
Hawks remained silent for a moment before he said, "I just need you to tell me why you would let him go."
You frowned, twiddling your thumbs. "He reminded me of my soulmate."
You sensed his judgey look, and you turned to look at his raised eyebrows. "Interesting."
"Not like that," you rolled your eyes half-heartedly. "I mean. . . His eyes. They were just like Todoroki's. Like, exactly. It made me think."
"About what?"
You wondered if you could tell him, but once looking at him, you felt like you should. You didn't know why, but you didn't think he would go and announce to the entire world what you told him. "What if. . . What if it's a relative?"
"Is that why you let the guy go? Even knowing he could have been dangerous?"
You nodded your head, looking down at your still-moving thumbs in an ashamed manner. "Ye-Yeah. I don't know why. I just. . . If he was related to Todoroki, I didn't want to hurt my soulmate if he knew that person."
"Do you know much about Todoroki's family?"

His question made you think. You really didn't know much other than his dad. You didn't necessarily know the circumstances of how he got his scar. You only knew about his father and his beautiful human being of a sister. Shaking your head, you replied, "Not too much."
"Then ask him. At the end of the day, it's communication. That's what caused our argument earlier. You wouldn't tell me why you let him go. If you had told me what you just said to me, I would've understood more, rather than going off on you."
You shook your head, "No, you had every right to go off at me. I never know the circumstances. Who knows, I could be wrong about him being related to Todoroki, or if he even deserved to be roaming around free like that. What if he was no longer part of the family for a reason? And there's another assumption I just made. I just assumed he wasn't apart of the family. What if he is?"
Noticing Hawks smirk, you huffed, slumping in your seat. "You know," he said, changing the subject. "I think if we went back now, I could finally show you how I could improve your quirk."
Almost snapping your neck to look at him, you said, "I really don't deserve it."
He chuckled at your eagerness, despite your comment. "Yeah, but you're aware and guilty as hell of your actions. It might not be too helpful, and you probably won't use it depending on your. . . Opinion on it. But it could be good to give it a try."
You smiled, nodding your head. "Yeah. That would be good. Thank you."
He let a little grin slip before shaking his head, "Yeah, whatever, kid. Get your things and we'll go to the roof."
"The what?"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"THE FUCKING ROOF?!"
"Watch your language."
"WHAT ARE WE DOING UP HERE?!"
"That's a good question." Tokoyami was also up there with you guys, sitting on the ground with his legs crossed as he peered over the edge of the tall building you all were on.
"You're here so you can learn a lesson too. Maybe take some flight pointers." Hawks said before turning back to you, noticing the pure look of disbelief on your face.
"FLIGHT?!"
"Yes, flight."
"BUT HOW WOULD THAT HELP ME WITH MY QUIRK? I CREATE METAL, I DON'T FLY."
"You don't need to yell. There's just a light breeze."
He was right. There was barely any wind. You were just under the impression there was.
Your face went red, "I KNOW."
"You're gonna make wings." Hawks said.
You stared at him like there was something wrong with him before saying, "Cool story, bro."
He sighed, "You said you can make things, just as long as it's out of metal, right?" Once you confirmed, he said, "So what's stopping you from making a pair of airplane wings?"
Mans had a point.
You sighed, nodding your head, "Fine, but be prepared to sit here for ages."
"Why does it take you so long to conjure up things?" He asked, and you shrugged your shoulders.
"I don't know. I never used to use it as much as I do now, so I'm still getting used to it."
"Or you're still thinking like a seven-year-old girl. Have you tried to conjure up bigger things?" He cut off your nod in reply. "Things that stretched your limits? And I don't mean in the spur of the moment like in a sports festival. I mean just for fun."
"No."
"Well then stop thinking like a little kid and thinking like a growing lady. You're not seven or eight anymore. So when I say stretch your limits, I mean it. I want you to create those wings in ten seconds."
"Exsqueeze me?"
"Make the damn wings, (L/N)."
You sighed. Looking at a spot on the ground in front of you, you tried to conjure it up. Closing your eyes, you were basically interrupted right away. "Open your eyes."
You frowned at him, "But that's how I–"
"That's how a little kid does it. Now, what are you?"
"An idiot sandwich."
He gave you a look, and you sighed. Someone who knows what an airplane looks like shouldn't have to sit there for YONKS trying to think about it. They should know exactly what it looks like right away.
You blinked, and your wings were there, the final few creaks indicting that it was just finishing creating itself.
You looked up at Hawks with childlike excitement, and he nodded his head. "Again."
"What now?"
"A bridge."
"Go fuck yourself."
