《The Invitation》Chapter 25

Dorian stared at the mix of people and tried to keep track of the hundred conversations that were currently going on.

How did he get here?

He wasn't very good at making plans but this was nowhere close to what he had in mind when he made the mistake of sneaking into the Armeshires.

As if sensing the tension on shore, the ocean waves grew larger and larger and more uncontrollable.

Amid all the chaos, stood Leah.

Calm, composed, and completely in control. This baffled Dorian and he didn't how she did it, mere moments after having a gun pointed at her head. A gun that he had pointed.

He'd always known that there was a risk when he pursued his thirst for vengeance.

He knew that there would be a part of him, perhaps the emotional, softer part of him that would be lost forever. And he had thought that it would be worth it, for most parts of him after his sister's death had been so irreparably damaged, he thought that he could handle whatever came next. But how very wrong he was.

Standing there, in the middle of a group of frenzied adults, Dorian wondered if it was worth it. Maybe he could just give up.

Make peace.

But no.

The Armeshire's had to be punished, and one way or another, Dorian would get his revenge.

"EVERYBODY SHUT UP!", he yelled.

This silenced everyone.

"I know that some of you may be wondering what the hell's happening over here, so I'll tell you. My name is Dorian and you're living with murderers."

Pleased at the stunned looks on their faces, Dorian continued.

"The Armeshire's killed my sister, She had been invited by them, just like you, to their island for a party not so many years ago. They asked her to join their crazy cult and my foolish, trusting sister agreed. Of all the guests, she was the only one who lost her life. And it was all because of the Armeshire's. So, I'm warning you now. Run. Get away from here, or you will be next."

There was a pause.

Silence.

Filled with nothing but the sound of the waves against the shore and the breeze against his skin, when suddenly everyone erupted out, talking at once, over each other, forgetting Dorian was even there.

This was the opening Dorian had been waiting for, and so when the next wave crashed down, Dorian disappeared with the receding waters of the ocean, leaving everyone wondering.
