Din:"You needed me to return that badly? I could have came back by air."
Levi:"Why so serious? Did something happen?"
Din:"Almost." Levi had an idea of what he meant by that and stopped the question right then and there.
Levi:"Anyhow, are you sure you're wanting to bring her along with us? She may have talent but she's still green."
Mikasa:"I can hear you."
Levi:"So?"
Din:"He's right, Mikasa. You're still new to this so it's best if you learned more from these guys. You'll be by my side until I say otherwise, got it?"
Mikasa:"Yes."
Petra:"Stop being mean, Din! She can grow to be the best Scout there will ever be. You can't baby her forever."
Din:"You're right, I can't but that doesn't mean I can't keep her safe until she's ready."
Mikasa:"Thank you, Petra. I'll be fine though."
Eren:"How do you feel being on the squad? To be honest, I'm quite nervous."
Mikasa:"I can't complain since there will be new skills I can obtain from everyone here. We'll be able to take back our home together, hopefully Armin can join us soon."
Oruo:"Oi kid, you might be the Captain's child but you're still a recruit. Don't go around thinking you're something special just because of that." He rode up next to the two and gave her a warning. If looks could kill, Oruo would have died from the killer look she gave him.
Oruo:"What the!?"
Din:"Be careful Oruo, if she were to go off on you, don't go crying to me for help. You start it, you finish it."
Oruo:"Tch, I-I know that!"
Mikasa:"Then back off, copy cat."
He did as he was told and fell back with the rest of his squad mates. Petra, Eld, and Gunther all laughed at him since Mikasa quickly realized he was just imitating Levi. She took her horse and rode up next to Din as to not get harrased by Oruo again.

Levi:"They're all good soldiers, don't let that single moment define who we are."
Mikasa:"I won't."
Din:"When we arrive to our destination, we'll start training again. This time I want to see how efficient you are with my blaster pistol then next time we'll try the jetpack."
Mikasa:"You're letting me use it?"
Din:"If you want to be like me then yes, you need to learn somehow."
Mikasa:"Okay." She bowed her head to hide the large grin plastered all over face
Levi:"We're almost there."
_______
At their temporary base of operations, Levi Squad got to work cleaning up the place. Everyone except Din and Mikasa had begun cleaning as they were both out training.
Din:"There are three targets I set up for you to hit. Aim in the blaster and pull the trigger when you're ready."
Mikasa aimed and fired a bolt at the first target, missing it.
Din:"Heh, you have that stormtrooper aim."
Mikasa:"Huh? What's that?"
Din:"It's a joke, anyway, I know it's a ton of a power coming from the blaster but you need to be firm with it. Don't crush the grip cause I have a feeling you can, get a firm grip and aim. Slowly pull the trigger and fire."
Mikasa did as instructed and hit the first target, dead center.
Mikasa:"I did it..."
Din:"Good, now onto the next. It's a bit far but it's the same concept." To his surprise, all targets were hit rapidly dead center. For a first time shooter, she exceeded his expectations.
Mikasa:"Dad, did I do well?" She asked due to her thinking he was disappointed.
Din:"Yes you did, I didn't think you'd be able to shoot them quickly like that. You feel comfortable holding the blaster?" She nodded her head.
Din:"Good, I'll try finding a way to let you use my jetpack but we'll need to make a special harness of something. My pack hooks into my armor so maybe Hange will be able to make something work, at least I'm hoping."

Mikasa:"Is it like ODM gear?"
Din:"No, my jetpack allows for greater maneuvering without the use of anchors and cables. You can move quick since you're not relying on trees or buildings."
Mikasa:"Do you think I'll be able to be great like you?"
Din:"Being a Mandalorian is not just learning how to fight. You'll also have to learn how to navigate the galaxy, that way you'll never be lost. In this case, just learn how to live your life and don't worry about the galaxy."
Mikasa:"You came from up there right?"
Din:"I did, from a different galaxy but that's a story for another time. Let's go and get you cleaned up, it's getting late so I think we skipped out on the cleaning."
Mikasa:"Is it that bad with Captain Levi?"
Din:"You have no idea."
__________
Gunther:"Place is secured, Captain. Eld and I performed a patrol and found nothing out of the ordinary."
Levi:"Good."
Petra:"Entire place has been cleaned per your request, Captain. Bedrooms have been assigned to the squad mates, as for Eren..."
Levi:"He'll sleep in the basement. Anything happens, that small suffocating space will confine him giving us the edge in a confrontation. Better hope that doesn't happen, Eren."
Eren:"I-it won't, sir."
Levi:"Good. Din, how's it been skipping out cleaning?"
Din:"She's a crack shot with my blaster, next thing I'm hoping for is to let her practice on my jetpack. I need Hange's help though."
The large doors behind Levi were being banged on. Everyone, minus Levi and Din, got ready for anything. The doors started to open allowing Hange to barge inside.
Hange:"Yahoo! How is my favorite special squad doing?"
Levi:"Good until you showed up."
Hange:"Shut up, I'm in too good a mood for you to be spoiling right now. Eren! What are you doing tomorrow!?" She went straight towards the boy ignoring Levi.
Eren:"Uhm, whatever Captain Levi needs me to do."
Hange:"Levi! Does he have a busy schedule for tomorrow!?" Levi just ignored her to take a sip of his tea.
Hange:"OI! Short stuff, I know you heard me."
Levi:"He's cleaning out weeds from the stables. Other than that, I have no further need from him."
Hange:"I need to experi-try some things with him. For scientific purposes."
Levi:"Go ahead."
Hange:"Yes! Eren, you and I have SO much to do tomorrow. I hope you're ready for it!"
Hange then shot a glance towards Din to which the latter slowly turned his head.
Din:"What?"
Hange:"Where is she!? I know you well enough that you didn't just leave her behind."
Din:"I didn't, she should be in the female room. Now that you're here though, I need a favor."
Hange:"As long as I can see my favorite little child then sure. What do you need?"
Din:"I need a harness of some sort that will allow the attachment of my jetpack. Look here, it has two hooks that can easily hook on. While you're up there with Mikasa, try to see if you can get measurements or try getting a size so the harness can fit. Can you do that?"
Hange looked over the packs two L-shaped hooks and then Din's back armor plate. Getting a quick understanding of how it worked she thought up several ideas.
Hange:"I can definitely do something to make this work. How soon do you need it?"
Din:"I'm going to need it done somewhat in a timely manner. I'm wanting to teach her the basics on how to use it."
Hange:"Understood, now then per our agreement..."
Din:"Petra, take her up please."
Petra:"Of course!"
Levi:"For your sake, I hope she doesn't rub off Mikasa the wrong way. We don't need another Hange."
Din:"I agree but I can't stop her, Mikasa looks up to Hange as well. I would be terrible to stop them from talking to each other."
Levi:"Hm, father knows best."

Frameshift
Magic. Math. Not a whole lot of context. Two months ago, I was a wormhole navigator, ripping open a hole in the universe to save a ship of people who only vaguely tolerated me. Two weeks ago, long story short, I threaded an impossible path through the void between dimensions to crash-land into a dungeon. You know the kind: monsters to defeat, corridors full of traps to avoid, and magical powers to earn. I'm not ashamed to admit that it's been two weeks of loneliness, fear, adrenaline, and constant injury. But I'll make it out of here by myself if I have to, or my name isn't Adam Leviathan James. ... too bad the Levi doesn't stand for Leviathan, huh. AN: Expectations should include in medias res, violence, smut, friendship, and powers/progression systems with absolutely an insufficiency of context and (at least at first) no definitions or explanations, and magic-as-programming/engineering (with something of an emphasis on "what if magical runework were an analogue to circuit diagrams"). This story used to be called "Yet Another Godsforsaken Isekai". Discord server: https://discord.gg/dHh3XMMB4T Cover by the amazing Daedalus of The Way Ahead.
