I laugh loudly as Klaus trails his lips across my neck and shoulder. He chuckles and places his hands on my waist, careful of my stomach. "I still can't believe we're having twins."
"Me neither, love." Klaus responds as he hovers over me, looking at me lovingly.
"What?" I smile looking up at him confused.
"You look breathtaking right now." He grins at the cheesy statement.
I laugh and cover my face with a blush but Klaus takes my hands away and kisses me. I lean up slightly to kiss him back. I pull back and place my hands on his chest while sitting up. "We should go downstairs. After last night, I think we all need to talk about what to do." Klaus groans as I laugh and get dressed.
"Is something the matter, brother?" Klaus asks as he sits down with a drink in his hand. "Can I fix you a drink perhaps?"
"Strangely enough, Niklaus, I'm not into a mimosa mood." Elijah says to him as I drink my orange juice by itself.
"Fantastic! More for me." He says as I giggle.
"Let's discuss strategy, shall we, Niklaus." Elijah tells his brother. "Just wondering if you actually have one. We can begin with Mikaels ashes. Given that they are the main ingredient in our weapon against Dahlia, would you care to tell me where they disappeared to?"
Klaus sets his drink down as he begins to talk, "Elijah, I have compelled the city's finest pastry chef for your personal edification, and yet you ignore my efforts in favour of needless concerns."
"Can we stop talking so loudly?" Rebekah asks as she walks in hungover. She looks over at the tea and sighs. "Give me that."
"What's the matter? New witch body not up to last nights bender?" Klaus smiles.
"So I had a few. It's not everyday you lose your father at the hands of your brother again." She says and sits at the opposite end of Klaus.
"Who ever said opportunity only knocks once, eh?" Klaus laughs and looks up to Elijah who doesn't even crack a smile. "Oh, come on. We all fled Mikaels tyranny together for centuries. I would of thought the mood this morning might be a bit more jubilant."
"Under normal circumstances, the annihilation of our father would be rather commendable, Niklaus. Unfortunately, we have a greater threat to contend with." Elijah says as he sits down.
Right as Elijah sat down, Klaus stood up. "You know, for someone who's been invited to a celebratory breakfast, you're proving quite the buzz kill."
Elijah sighs, "Well, Niklaus if indeed anything has killed the buzz, as you say, perhaps it was because murdering father alienated the one person who truly knows how to defeat Dahlia."
"If Freya wants to be a part of this family, she should be willing to accept us, warts and all." Klaus grins and sits down after filling his glass once again.
"Elijah's right." Rebekah says. "Freya loved Mikael and you've likely ruined everything."
"Pity. Whatever shall I do?" Klaus asks bored.
"Whatever you please apparently." Elijah responds angrily.
"Well, I'm glad he's dead." I mumble and drink my juice making everyone look at me. "What? I'm sorry, okay? But let's not forget everything he's done. He almost killed Hayley and Hope, who is to say he wouldn't have came for me and my babies. Oh wait, he did come after me, he almost killed me while Esther had you, Elijah. And I have nothing to say about Freya because I don't trust her."

It was silent after I said all that making me sigh. Klaus looks to Elijah to get the attention off of me, thank god. "Do not mistake my high spirits for lack of clarity. I know full well the threat we face, and I intend to deal with it personally." Klaus pauses. "Someone's here."
Klaus stands up as the rest of us do and walk out by the entrance of the compound. "Josephine." Elijah says.
"Forgive me for calling so early, Elijah, but I've come bearing a message from your aunt Dahlia. She is owed a debt, and she means to be paid." Josephine says.
"She can writhe in hell first." Klaus says as I grab his hand worriedly.
"For merely taking what your mother promised her? If you must harbour hatred, isn't it better spent on the one who traded your child away a thousand years ago? Blame Esther if you must, but I seek only to fulfill a bargain, a bargain that consequently resulted in your very existence. Perhaps you should be thanking me." I furrow my eyebrows at her as Elijah steps forward.
"Dahlia." He says.
"My child, I prefer aunt Dahlia." She says as Klaus steps forward as well dropping my hand in the process.
"You dare enter my home?" He asks.
"I only came for what is mine. The time has come to add the child's power to my own, though I do not detect her here." Josephine's neck starts to bleed from under her choker. She looks behind Klaus at me as I grow uncomfortable. "If I do not get the child, perhaps, I'll have to take your two twins that are growing in your stomach."
I immediately bring my hand to my stomach and Rebekah takes my other hand in comfort. "I see you've used a spell to cloak her. No matter. Such spells will yield, as will you. Say your farewells. You have til nightfall tomorrow, and then the child shall be mine. Be a dear and inform the mother. No reason we can't be civilized about this."
Klaus looks away before looking back and slicing her head right off her body making me gag. I look at Josephine's body and feel bad for her before I look away.

"Out with it, Maddie. I know you want to say something." Klaus says as he paints angrily.
"I have nothing to say." I look down at the book I was reading and continue with it. "Maybe you just want me to say something."
"What is that supposed to mean?" He asks me.
"It means that your aunt Dahlia is basically giving you a choice. Either Hope or our babies. I don't know what you want me to say, Klaus, but she isn't getting anything much less our children, including Hope." I tell him as Elijah walks into the room.
"You do understand there is no time." Elijah says making Klaus shoot him a dirty look and continue painting. "Niklaus, if Mikaels ashes are the key to ending Dahlia, then surely you must see the need to share their whereabouts."
"I see nothing of the sort." He responds.
"It is no secret that you often strategize while painting. I assume you have a plan here." Elijah says while walking around him.
"You ask that I share my strategies so you can run straight to Freya and bring her into the circle of trust. I think not." Klaus tells him.
"It is too dangerous for you, brother. You cannot do this alone." Elijah says.

"And whom should I trust to protect Hope? Our newfound sister with duplicitous motives of her own? Hayley, whose allegiance to her husband grows stronger by the day," Klaus stops painting and goes towards other paintbrushes before making his way back to his painting. "Or how about Jackson, the self-declared king of the wolves?"
"You need only trust me." Elijah tells his brother.
"I would love to, Elijah. Now more than ever, I need my brother, my closest ally, my blood..." my eyes soften at Klaus' words. "But you have not been the same since mother got inside your head. Your judgement is not what it was. You are not what you were. The Elijah I know would never have clung so desperately to the word of a duplicitous stranger, telling him what he wants to hear."
Elijah turns towards Klaus quickly. "Freya is our blood, brother. She also has every reason to want Dahlia's demise. We have no cause to distrust her."
"Which is a far cry from being trustworthy." Klaus argues with Elijah. "She vanquished Finn, Yes, But only after she herself resurrected him, and though lauded for saving Rebekah from Eva Sinclair, how do we know she didn't have a hand in waking that demon in the first place?"
"Niklaus, if we cannot trust one another, we can't work together." Elijah says walking up to him.
Klaus paints as he responds. "No. We cannot." Elijah makes a face causing worry to grow in me.
Klaus seemed to have got some visitors today. First Aiden, who snuck the witch shackles, which Klaus didn't even realize. And second, Cami, Elijah sent her here to talk to Klaus. How fun.
"Anything else, Maddie?" I hear and look up.
"Just another water please, Sarah." I smile as she nods and leave to get me another drink. After I heard Cami show up I left the compound and went to the same cafe me and my dad go to. I originally found this place with Thierry.
He would play here a lot. I would sit in one of the booths and just listen to him play all day and night long. Sometimes I'd even sneak out of the compound. Sarah puts my water down and a donut as I nod in thanks.
I finish my things and then go to the cemetery. I haven't seen Davina really since Kol died. With everything happening, I haven't really seen her at all and even though there's times when I was hurt by her actions I still love her. I walk down the secret tomb thing and she her with her hand up ready to attack.
"Whoa. It's just me." I say making her sigh and put her hand down.
Davina chuckles. "You should know better than to sneak up on me."
"I wasn't sneaking." I say and walk towards her. "Just haven't talked to you in a while."
"What do you want, Maddie?" She asks distracted.
"Look. I know you've been going through a hard time, held up in here since Kol died, but I never want something from you. Ever. You know that. Any progress with trying to bring Kol back?" I ask her.
"What do you care? You hated him anyway." She says.
"I didn't hate him. I mean, he wasn't my favourite person at first. And to be honest, I didn't really like him for you but seeing as I'm having twins with Klaus, I can't say much. And besides, you know I can be a little bit protective." I tell her.
Davina cracks a smile. "Yeah. Understatement of the year." Davina walks to a shelf to get something. "You never once bothered to ask me how I felt after Kol died. And even after all the crazy things that I've been through, that was the worst. That's when I needed you the most."
I walk towards her after she turns towards me. "You're right. I should've been there for you. And I'm sorry, Davina. I am but I was also there when he died. I saw you, and I should've asked how you were feeling, but I guess I assumed you didn't want to talk about it. I thought you would've needed time to heal which is why I haven't came around. I'm sorry." I put my hand on her should before walking out of the tomb.
*
"Freya objected to us making a single weapon because it spoilt her plan." Klaus says as I'm sat down. I was at the safe house where Klaus, Elijah, Hayley and Hope were and listening to their conversation.
"Klaus!" I hear Jackson yell and we all turn to see him running in with Aiden's body and another wolf. Jackson puts his body on the table as we gather around.
"What happened?" Hayley asks. I look to Klaus seeing the shocked look on his face.
"Klaus made Aiden spy on us. Instead, he told me everything, so you killed him!" Jackson yells at Klaus.
"You killed him, one of the wolves sworn to protect our daughter?" Hayley asked him. Klaus looked around at everyone as they held anger.
"So what if I did?" He asks. "This is what happens to anyone who dares cross me!"
I sigh and try not to lash out. Klaus didn't kill Aiden. He has claw marks on his chest, Klaus may be half wolf but he wouldn't kill Aiden this way or anyone this way. At least not in his human form.
"Just give us the word, Jackson." One of the wolves say.
"Yes! Come and have a go, but you'll be putting your life on the line for one who was all too willing to betray you. Perhaps this never would have happened if he'd have had a real alpha." Klaus says just as Jackson punches Klaus. Klaus pushes Jackson away and Hayley pushes Klaus back. Klaus gets angry and pushes Hayley out of the way making Elijah stand between Klaus and Jackson, and looks to my brother.
"Do you wish to die?" Elijah asks him.
Hayley stands up and speeds towards Elijah, pushing him. "You want to kill me, too, Elijah?"
Elijah walks away from Hayley and beside Klaus. "If you come at him, you come at me." I almost smile at Elijah's words.
"You lot should make better use of your time. I suggest burying your dead." Klaus says as I sigh and grab his arm, leading him out.
*
"Tell me you didn't kill Aiden. You didn't kill him, right? Please tell me that everyone else is wrong and you didn't kill him." I beg of Klaus once we arrive at the compound.
"Maddison..." he trails off.
"You admitted it to all of them." I walk up to him.
"Then why even ask?" He asks me. "Morbid curiosity? If I tell you who I am, and you refuse to believe me, then I can hardly be blamed for your disappointment."
"I do believe you, Klaus, and you know what? Maybe you were right, maybe about everything, about Freya. Maybe she is not what she seems. Maybe she is out to get you and twisting everyone against you, and maybe she is an evil person, but you know what she didn't do, Klaus? She didn't just kill Aiden." I ranted to him.
"And neither did I!!" He yells and turns towards me.
"Why did you tell them that you did then?" I ask as a tear drops.
"If I have spilled crescent blood, then Hayley will be forced to question her packs loyalty to Hope, and she will not run." Klaus explains.
"But if they don't protect her, then who..."
Klaus interrupts me, "Only I can save her, and I need them to fear me!"
"Are we supposed to fear you, too?" I ask putting my hands on my stomach watching him look down.
"It would be better for you if you did, for you to believe I am the monster they would paint me as. And then one day when all of this was past, I would find you and profess my innocence," he says walking up close to me with a smile, "And because you are you, you would believe me. And we would pass a perfect morning in our bed together." Klaus puts his hand on my cheek as I cry. "And I would wish for nothing more." I lean my head against his as we stand there for a few moments.
Klaus and I went upstairs to his room, he went to the bedroom as I grabbed a glass of water before making my way upstairs. I walk through the door and look up before I drop my glass with a gasp. "Elijah..."
Rebekah, Freya and Elijah look my way as I start to sob. Elijah looks guilty as I drop to the ground looking at my babies father. Daggered on the ground. "What did you do?" I whisper. Elijah walks towards me but I stand up and snap his neck with my magic and gather my things. I know I can't undagger him, I wouldn't even be aloud to get close. The only person that can keep me and my babies safe is daggered.
I leave the compound with all my things and go to Thierry's apartment. I sit on the couch and cry. Once again I was betrayed by Elijah and Davina. Davina was the one with the means of the dagger and Elijah just did the work.
So many emotions fill my body making the candles in the room light up. Stress, betrayal, heartbreak...My eyes flutter as I gag. I run to the bathroom and throw up, not stopping. I look down at the blood and my eyes widen. I fumble with my phone before dialling 911. "Klaus..." I whisper before I pass out.
"911, what's your emergency?"
