It was hard living in the monastery, for the past 10 years I've spent my life within these walls. Living with my uncle after my mother dropped me off was hard enough as it was, he didn't mistreat me, but neither did he treat me like a child, in fact, I was trained more so as a student rather than his niece. I followed his orders fulfilling my job as a shrine maiden mainly, taking up the position of keeping the peace within the walls of the sacred grounds upon the mountaintop it stood on. Often, (more times than I would like) I was stuck taking care of the other three ninja uncle has picked out for the prophecy he's been rambling on about for a good few years now.

I didn't interact with them much due to my anxiety, but those three definitely made the monastery feel homier than ever. Zane was my favorite of the bunch, quiet, smart, and doesn't push me to do overstimulating things because I've lived in isolation almost my entire life. Cole was sweet as well, he has his own quirks including overworking himself a lot, I catch him in the training area more times than I can count. Jay was the newest addition to the team, only to have joined a few months ago, if I was the yin, he was definitely my yang (platonically of course), he's way too energetic for me to keep up and I swear he's always in front of the tv or cracking jokes every chance he can get. either way, they have made the place more lively and I'm grateful for that.

"y/n child, care to have some tea with me?" my uncle asked as I was cleaning up the mess the boys made earlier that morning. I nodded in response and placed the broom against the wall following my uncle into his meditation room, a small Chinese tea set all placed perfectly.

"What is there you wanted to speak about?" I asked quietly raising my cup to drink.

"I know I haven't been the best parental figure to you, but there are some things I wish to tell you now that you are of age." my head tilted a bit upon hearing this. "how much do you remember of your childhood before living here?" I stopped my hands trying hard to think of anything in the first 8 years of my life.

"I recall my mother...she was pregnant, right? she felt bad about having to leave me behind, and my father...I don't remember much about him. he left when I was even younger..." uncle nodded in response, knowing things I definitely didn't know. he sighed quietly, placing down his cup of tea on the small table.

"Your mother didn't abandon you as you might think, she left in order to find a way to defer a prophecy involving both of her children. Because of this, she left you in my care and sent your brother to boarding school as soon as she can in order to prevent an untimely fate. unfortunately, fate is something you can't prevent, therefore I have spent the past 10 years refining your fighting skills, I didn't want to burden you with such responsibilities at such a young age. I've made those mistakes before, so I decided it was best to take things slowly with you. a great battle ensues in your future, and it's now time to prepare you, and the others for it."

"may I ask...what is this great battle prophecied?" I asked quietly, trying to take things all in, I knew that there was something greater in my life throughout the years, knowing I was a spinjitzu master descendant, but I wasn't prepared for a grand battle, I knew that was tied to the four ninjas, and the green ninja.

I sat on the roof of the gate, is it even a roof? I sat on the top of the monastery's gate. My Uncle gave me the rest of the day off to process everything, but I didn't even know what to think about. my brain is numb thinking about everything, I vaguely remembered my brother but he wasn't even born yet as far as I can think. I didn't even get to see him before I got sent off to live here. I wondered how he is now, is he living fine? does he think our parents abandoned him? I hope I get to meet him soon, I want to tell him so many things and let him know that I wouldn't leave him even if it meant the end of the world.

other things bothered me, I knew about the legend about the green or golden ninja I suppose, and I knew I was tied into it somehow, I just wasn't expected to be the primary trainer for the said green ninja. Wu told me that the 4 ninjas are also his teachers, but that they were more so physical trainers, I was the emotional trainer, or whatever that means, sounds like a therapist to me.

the sun was starting to set, making me realize I'd been at the gate for who knows how long now. I jumped off quietly going my way into the dining hall, Cole, Jay, and Zane already settled down ready to dine.

"Good evening there y/n, how was your talk with sensei Wu?" Zane asked politely as I sat down next to him. The food he cooked was all laid out, it looked like it was hot pot night.

"It was...good...I think. I'm not sure, to be honest, there was a lot to process and I'm still heavily thinking about it. due time though, I'll be fine, let's have a good rest of the night shall we? whos up for games after?" I raise my chopsticks smiling at the others. the others cheer on as we began to chow down on that Zane has set up. we ate in joy celebrating the young night.

"Do you guys hear that?" Zane said silencing everyone. the group quiets down the chatter hearing the singing of an unknown voice, coming from one of the bathrooms.

"Someone broke in," Cole said quietly, Jay and Zane nodded and immediately ran off to the changing room leaving me alone in the dining hall.

"We didn't even finish dinner guys..." I said quietly watching them run across the hall decked out in their black uniforms running towards the suspicious room. I sigh placing down my chopsticks and followed suit after them. standing not far behind, I caught the group chasing after a brunette in the courtyard, having a standoff.

"Boys..." I whisper to myself, before I can even do anything, uncle has walked out of nowhere shushing the group in their dog pile fight.

"Ahem. boys, this is your new teammate, not an enemy." The boys groan and slowly get off the new guy, dusting off his clothes the brunette looked up with a distasted look glaring at the others. "This is Kai, the elemental master of fire, he'll be joining you guys from this day onwards. please, refrain from causing more problems. Shall we finish dinner now?" Uncle giggled a bit as he waltzed towards the dining room. The others shrug and followed after leaving me and the new guy alone.

"Didn't know they let girls be ninjas." he scoffed a bit, I tilt my head a bit in disgust at his attitude, I couldn't believe this guy was an elemental master.

"Can't believe they let misogynistic asshole be an elemental master." I retort back, immediately turning around to head to my room instead. the gall that guy had! the gelled hair and charisma leaking out of him were insane. the only good thing he had going on was his good looks, oh I can't wait until I can-

"I am so sorry! Are you okay?" I look up from my spot on the floor to see another girl, hair pinned up into a high, short ponytail standing in front of me. Se had similar features to that Kai guy from earlier.

"It's alright, my name is y/n, mostly the shrine maiden here at the monastery, and you are?" I ask taking her extended hand out, and getting myself up from the floor.

"Nya, I honestly thought I was going to lose my mind since this place reeked of a boys club. wasn't expecting a girl here at all." she gave me a warm welcoming smile.

"boys club...you mean that by there being all boys here?"

"Girl we need to get your vocab updated."

The room was quiet, just me and Nya alone in the momentary as the others went on a mission to gather the golden weapons or something. Wanting to pass time and find secrets, I sat by the small table set in the middle of my room reading the few scrolls my uncle gave me to read. The years of him making me study and understand ancient languages made it a breeze to read through. Besides ancient scrolls, Wu gave me a small family picture book of what were supposed to be family pictures of my family. There was barely anything, just some pictures of me as a baby, next to my mother 'Misako' and some along with my father Garmadon. There was a single photo on the last page, hidden away from the rest, a small girl asleep next to a baby basket, a finger being held b the baby fast asleep. I took the picture out to look at it more closely, flipping the picture t see words written on the back.

"To the day, they will reunite in peace."

I felt a tear slip out of my eye as I look at the picture again, my brother didn't look more than a few days old as far as I could tell. I wonder how he is right now, I do hope I can see him soon. wiping the tear away, I place the picture onto the main pin board I had on the side of my bed, admiring the few pictures I had placed up, for achievements throughout the years.

"It's just going to get more difficult isn't it..?" I whisper quietly to myself.

"knock knock y/n!! the guys are back!! They got those shiny gold weapons Sensei Wu told them to get or whatever." Nya said outside my door.

"Give me a moment, I'll be right out." I respond back, I can hear the shouting from the team in the courtyard. giving one last glance, to everything scrambled around my room, I left closing the door behind me and heading towards the courtyard. The halls were quiet per usual, as I approach the courtyard, shards of ice and rock were thrown on the side of the door I slid open.

"You guys are insane," I say quietly staring at the thrown pieces stuck to the door, that'll take some time to fix up.

"My apologies y/n." Zane said dropping his shurikens on the floor. I laugh a bit at his joke, I think, I'm not sure what to make of his humor it's very confusing.

"Shall we rest for the night?" Uncle declared, the others nodded off and continued to their private rooms leaving me and the new guy alone.

"Look I'm sorry for the other night, my sister let me have it after hearing about it from Jay. I was being an ass and I shouldn't base your abilities on your gender. I'm sorry y/n." Kai bowed his head down in respect for his apology, Glad to know his sister is not one to mess with.

"You've been forgiven, shall we start over?" I give him my hand to help him up.

"Names Kai, Kai Smith."

"y/n, y/n Garmadon."

Funny, I never noticed the dimple he had.

Months have passed since then, and I've spent more time training with the boys, refining my skills whenever I can since my uncle wouldn't let me rest at all. There had been calls for help regarding serpentine rumors which have been a big concern, so many unknown things are riding on the group, and it's starting to stress me out.

The biggest problem was when a serpentine tribe burned down the monastery while the others were out fighting, and I was attending to matters in a village nearby. The burnt building I came up the mountain to, was a pure shock to me, it stood on this mountain for three generations (definitely more time than that for sure though). the worst problem at hand was that Zane wasn't with them.

"Guys...where is Zane..?" I Ask the group seeing ice covering what's left of the fire burning down the building.

"He left and it's my fault.." Kai scoffed at himself.

"He will come back, for now, our job is to recover anything we can, and search for a new home t reside in." Uncle Wu declared, the others sighing at no longer having a home.

"Uncle, are you sure we can find another place?" I whisper to him in question as we head to his room, retrieving any scrolls we could find that didn't get burned.

"Fate will always help in need, in due time, hopefully."

"reassuring uncle.." he giggled at my response, pulling out the green ninja scroll he had tucked away in a secret compartment.

"You should go grab anything from your room, I know you don't have much but anything is good to keep now." I nod slowly, realizing the family photobook was left in there. The room was see-through, walls burned off, leaving ashes covering the floor. I saw the book tucked under my bed untouched thankfully. my pin board broke in half with most of the pictures gone or burnt, except for the sole picture of Lloyd and I, the broken board must've prevented the fire from reaching it.

"We'll guide you back Lloyd..." I say quietly, after all, the group was loud speaking about a 'Lloyd Garmadon' and not Lord Garmadon freeing the serpentine. It was a little bit funny knowing they had to fight an 8-year-old.

"Niece dear, did you get everything?" Uncle walked through the open walls to see me on the floor holding the picture. "The sun is starting to rise, the others are packed and ready to set foot."

"I'm done, shall we head out?" I stood up throwing the rest of my things into my satchel, following my uncle to the others in the courtyard. All essential items are packed and ready to leave.

I don't know why, but everyone insisted on traversing into the desert, the scorching sun was running down on my skin as we settled down to have dinner. Kai used his fire power to cook some...I don't even know what it is. Must be some scorpion found in the sand.

"That's it!! I want some real food! not, whatever this is!!" jay screamed out loud throwing his food onto the firepit, followed by throwing a stone into an empty can nearby. "Haha, new high score!!" He laughed out loud, sounding so defeated.

"I miss Zane and his cooking." Kai gasped out hitting his head on the rock we sat behind on, hard. Everyone else groaned in agreement. And yet, miraculously, Zane popped up out of nowhere supplying exactly what we needed.

"Zane! I'm so sorry about before, I hope you aren't mad!" The others begged.

"Mad? Why would I be mad? I followed the falcon out here." He smiled, starting to list off an oddly bunch of pies he baked. I looked behind him, and not far in the distance, stood a massive ship perched between the sand dunes. "I also found us a new home, I present Destiny's Bounty." The others immediately ran off toward the ship smelling the delicious feast that Zane has prepared, I giggled and bit and followed suit.

The feast was massive, I don't even know how Zane got all of the food here to even cook all of this but I am glad that he did. The others started to chow down the food as Nya and uncle walked in, enjoying the young night as we filled our bellies.
