《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Chapter 15

Jet was getting around to leave for Alteras Tower. Along with other pit stops, he had to get Amanda's engagement ring back. That would be the hard part since he had no clue where to start. Next, he would go to the tower, which he had planned on destroying unless he couldn't. The more he thought about it, the more he realized there was a chance he couldn't. That was a thought for when he arrived. The AI thought she could help fix the Tower now if Jet could figure out why he cared so much.
"Sir Jetsford, why are you carrying your supplies? I could put them in my earring as well, or if you don't trust me, Jefferson has room." Kayley asked.
"Has nothing to do with trust. I'd feel better hauling my own stuff." Jet gave her a small smile. "Speaking of your earring. I've been curious about what's stored inside?"
"Oh, Jefferson asked that a few days ago." With a thought, Kayley emptied her earring, which filled the entire living room with clothes until Jet noticed the boxes of stuffed animals.
'Wow, she is a typical girl underneath.' Jet thought as he looked around. "What's with the clothes for men?"
"Some of these belonged to my father and mother. I keep them as a reminder of them." Kayley had a far-off look.
Jet knew that look. She was thinking of her parents. "I'm sorry."
"You got nothing to be sorry about," Kayley said.
"These are your father's clothes, and I've not taken care of them." Jet was sorry. He still had all his parent's stuff stored in his house.
"I got more." That is all she said.
"I'll have them fixed back up when I get to Earth." Jet promised.
"You're not going to forget me, are you?" The AI complained.
Jet walked over to the computer. "Nope, I didn't forget." He unplugged the disc putting it in his pocket.
"I don't know about you guys, but we're ready to go." Hogan and Tulle come into the house.
"Alright, we will all go out to say our goodbyes." Jet walked over to the kitchen where Jeff had been. But on the way, he grabbed Jeff's coat and slipped a letter into it. "Hey Jeff, you get all the metals you could find?"
"Yeah, but I left the electrical stuff alone. Along with the solar panels, which Hogan and I put up so they wouldn't ruin." Jeff looked at Jet and frowned. "Jet, is something wrong."
"Nope, meeting in front of the house to say goodbye." Jet threw Jeff his coat.
Jet watched as everyone else said their goodbyes. He was not one for goodbyes and stood to the side. However, he would tell Hogan and Tulle goodbye after Jeff and Kayley. "Hey, Jet, why aren't you joining us?" Jeff called out to him.
"I hate goodbyes." Jet said, walking over to them. Jeff and Kayley were close together. Jet grabbed Kayley's shoulder and slightly pushed her. "Catch you both later." Jet said just as the two touched. Then he forced a World Jump on them both. Kayley tried to stop the Jump, but she was too late. They both vanished from sight.

"What just happened?" Tulle looked at Jet in horror.
"I sent them back to Earth." Jet shrugged.
"I thought you all were going to the tower?" Hogan asked.
Jet sighed. "Jeff is new to his magic, and Kayley is too nice." He was sure the second part worked for both of them. "It would be better for me to go." Jet smiled at them. "Guess this is goodbye then. I wish you both the best of luck."
Tulle hugged Jet tight. "But now you will be alone."
"That's fine. It will be easier to move around alone. Hey, Hogan, have you ever heard of someone called Lord Joy?" Jet wanted to get the ring back, but he would need a direction to go.
Tulle let Jet go and backed away. Hogan had about the same reaction. "How do you know Lord Joy?" They both asked.
Jet shrugged. "He is the one who imprisoned me." He gave a quick explanation of what had gone down at that house.
"Jet, you do not want to get that ring back. You'd best get a new one. Lord Joy is the most powerful man in the world. He runs this entire world." Hogan tried to explain.
"I see. So where is his house, and is it close to the tower?" Jet didn't want to give up on getting the ring back. Of course, the odds of the man still having the ring were slim since it sounded like the guy was rich.
"If you want to know. Lord Joy lives in Delon city. It is near the tower, so you'll be going through it along the way. But Jet, I'm telling you, forget about the ring." Hogan pleaded.
Tulle grabbed Jet's hand. "Please be careful."
Jet smiled and laughed. "Me, be careful? That isn't too likely. But don't worry, if anything happens, I'll teleport out."
Hogan facepalmed. "Lord Joy has people with those abilities and more."
Jet waved his hand, almost hitting Tulle. "You two take care. I will handle whatever comes my way." He patted Tulle on the head. "Remember what I said. Forget about us." He didn't give them time to answer, teleporting far enough away they couldn't see him. "I'm sorry, Jeff. I hope you'll forgive me."
Jet walked in the direction he felt the tower for two days straight. "I'm so bored." He complained as he kicked a small rock into a tree. "Alex, would you wake up, so I at least have someone to talk to." After a few minutes, he sighed. "What about teaching me how to make a magical arm?" Jet stopped and looked around. "Hey, when did a road show up?"
When Jet got to the road, it was obviously old and not maintained. But it was going in the direction he was. As he walked, he tried to make a magical arm. It wasn't going too well. The magic wouldn't hold together without extreme concentration. So every time he tripped on the dirt road did not help. "Why is this so hard." He screamed. "And what's with this horribly maintained road." Using his magic, he smoothed the road out. Then an idea sprung on him. "Forget learning how to make a magical arm. I'm going to learn how to use two elements at once."

While Jet walked, he fixed the road and threw wind blades around. It turned out that he figured out how to use two elements at once in less than ten minutes. "Now I'm bored again. Maybe I should have sent them back after we got to the tower." Without even a thought, Jet kept fixing the road as he walked.
Jet stopped when he heard something coming up on him. He turned around to find a car or something close. It looked like a cross between a standard small car, a pickup, and a van. "Wow, that looks so stupid." It pulled up beside him and stopped.
"Yo, you lost, kid?" Some woman looked out the window of the vehicle.
"No, I'm headed to Delon City." Jet wasn't too sure what to make of the young woman. She had some colorful hair as if she tried for every color.
"Hop in. I'm going the same way. There's a small town up ahead I plan to stay. Then Delon city is a day's drive away." She opened the passenger door.
Jet's eyebrow raised. "You don't even know me." He wondered who in their right mind would pick up someone with a sword on their back or a gun holstered at their hip.
"Oh, my name is Tija. What's yours?" Tija asked.
Jet was about to respond, then stopped. Thinking that his name might be a bad idea. "I'm Ford." He didn't think anyone would know him by that name. The only person that uses his real name didn't know it before they ended up underground. Jet was too risky since Lord Joy may know.
"There, now that we know each other, hop in." Tija smiled.
Jet used magic sight on her and frowned. Tija had the same soul magic as everyone he had seen. But it looked much weaker than even Hogan's. "Ok." Jet hopped into the vehicle.
"So, why are you heading to Delon City?" Tija put some sunglasses on and started to drive.
"I plan on doing the Alteras Games." Jet didn't see a point in lying.
"Oh, you seek fame, fortune, or magic?" Tija looked at Jet curiously.
Jet thought that her question was weird. "I don't know."
"So you're a lost soul. Wish I was brave enough to try the games. Having a magic power would be awesome." Tija looked off into her own world.
"Please pay attention to the road." Jet broke her out of her thoughts. "You have magic if you practice."
"Oh, you can see magic in me?" Tija grinned.
"Everyone has magic here. You need to find how it works." Jet explained.
"That's sweet. I like the rockin hair color." Tija run her hand through Jet's hair.
Jet was not sure what to think of the Tija. He reached up and touched his hair. "I should dye it another color."
"Yeah, if you want, I can help." Tija's eyes were glittering.
"Tija, why would you help me?" Jet was curious about what she would say.
"Well, because there isn't enough good in the world." Tija had a faraway look on her face. "And because I made a promise. Someone saved me once and asked me to do the same."
Jet was about to point out that he didn't need rescuing. But he didn't. "I could use a makeover. But, I should warn you, I'm broke."
"So you are going to the games for fortune. Ford, you should just get a job if you need money. You could even sell your weapons there to make a start. Most never come back from the games. Either because they die or because they can't stop." Tija had a tear roll down her cheek.
"Well, I'm not going for the money. Honestly, I shouldn't even bother with going." If it hadn't been for the nagging feeling in Jet's mind, he wouldn't go. He also had nothing better to do after force-jumping Jeff and Kayley to Earth. Now he needed time to recharge before he could go back. It used far more power to send them back that way.
"That's the spirit. I could help you find a job." Tija offered.
Jet smiled at the offer. "Know of any that would take a one armed man?"
Tija's smile faltered. "Ok fine, that may be a slight problem. What are you good at?"
Killing was at the top of Jet's list. "Hurting people."
At this point, Tija's smile was gone. "Ford, this may be out of line. But how did you lose your arm?"
"Lost my arm while saving someone." Jet felt the trade wasn't too bad after getting to know Tulle.
"I'm guessing fighting is what you're good at." Jet didn't think this was true but let Tija continue. "Ford, you should wait and not go to the Alteras Games next weekend. If you can wait a month."
"Why?"
"Well, because these games are going to be criminals mostly. So they don't mind killing each other. Next month is just for the honor of going into the Tower. So no killing will be involved. Criminals tend to enjoy the games." Tija explained, gritting her teeth.
'Of course, that's just my luck.' Jet complained inwardly. "I'll knock them all out. Any way I can get to the Alteras Tower and skip the games?"
"Sure, just have to get Lord Joy's approval." Tija winked at him.
Jet knew that would never happen. Maybe he could try sneaking into the tower. "What happens if you sneak into the tower?"
"Oh, once you see the place, you will understand. Look at that, the city of Borough. We have made some good time. It's about time they worked on this road." Tija smiled at Jet. Who just realized he had still been fixing the road as they had been driving.
