《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Training 4

They were now on their final day of training before heading out. Jeff had made some serious progress in flying around. Too bad that had cost him a lot of aluminum. He had made progress in not burning and wasting too much of the metal. But he was low enough that he kept the rest in reserve. As for iron, it didn't burn as fast, so he had made leaps with using iron. The metal could be used for killing easily since it could vibrate through about anything except Jet's sword and Kayley's.
Kayley's sword was interesting. Apparently, it had been made out of a dragon's bone. It was her brother's sword that she had stolen. She did not go into details. The sword had the name Poecilia Reticulata, nicknamed Poe. The sword looked deadly. It had a curved blade with two points on the end. The blade was purple, and the hilt blue and yellow. But it all looked to be one piece.
"Sir Jetsford, you ready for practice?" Kayley asked.
Jet wished he had not told them about his past. Ever since he had told Kayley about being knighted, she has called him Sir. No matter how often he has tried to get her to stick with Jetsford. He would prefer Jet, but that wasn't going to happen. "Yeah," Jet groaned out. While walking out the door, Jet noticed one of her missing earrings. "What happened to your other earring?"
"Oh, I gave it to Jefferson to use. So he didn't need to hold all that metal." Kayley hurriedly explained.
Jet was certain he saw a blush on her face. "Makes sense."
"So, are we really skipping morning sparring today?" Kayley changed the subject.
"Yes, I want to go hunting. We need to get some supplies ready so when we leave in the morning, we don't starve a day out." Sure, Jet could hunt on the way. But he figured they could at least smoke some food for the trip. Possibly even store some water.
Kayley was learning not to use her style of fighting anymore. But she still would get into her old rhythm, and Jet would take advantage. Either hitting her with the wooden sword or tripping her up. "Do you have to hit so hard? I'm covered in bruises." She complained, rubbing her hand.
"Better to have a few bruises and learn than to be dead." Jet smiled. "Now I need to get breakfast done. I've got too much work to do today."
"Sir Jetsford, what are Jefferson and I supposed to do until this afternoon?" Kayley asked.
"Pack, practice. I don't care. We should be back by noon for our last bit of training. Don't forget I'm going all out on you two." Jet waved back at her as he went into the house.
After breakfast, Jet set out with Hogan and Tulle to gather ingredients, or so he said. "All right, you two, we need to talk." Both of them froze when Jet spoke.
"About what?" Hogan asked, and Tulle nodded.
"When we split up tomorrow, you have to forget us." Jet said flatly.
"What, why?" Tulle blurred out.
"Because we are about to become wanted. More than we are, of course. What I'm about to do will probably make us the most wanted people in the world. So that's why once we separate, you two forget about us. Don't ever even mention what we look like. Not even our names will be safe to use. That includes your own names." Jet explained.

"It makes sense." Hogan agreed with Jet.
"So we will have to come up with new names." Tulle thought aloud.
"Yes, and you can't tell us what they are. If things don't work out and one of us gets captured. They would be able to get that information from us. When we split up tomorrow, you two can never talk about us. Not ever, even when you are alone. Do you get what I'm saying!" Jet looked at Hogan for confirmation. When he nodded, he looked to Tulle. It took her longer to nod her head. "Also, when we part, make sure we're out of sight before you leave. Best if we don't see which way you go."
"This all happens tomorrow. Sometimes I wish I'd change my mind and go with you guys." Tulle said sadly.
Jet walked over to her and crouched down. "Go live your life. Be happy. Find someone precious to you." He patted her on the head. "The path I walk is full of blood."
Hogan's eyebrow raised at Jet's statement. "Only if you want it to be that way. Remember, a person always has a choice."
Jet sighed and closed his eyes. "I've lost count of the bodies I've left behind. But something is pulling me to that tower." He had not told anyone about the pull he felt.
"Which way is the tower?" Hogan asked.
Jet pointed in the direction of the pull. "A two-week walk in that direction."
Hogan looked in that direction, frowning. "You really can feel the tower. It should be in that general direction. But Jet, do you know what you're walking into."
"No idea." Jet smiled.
"Well, I'll explain it later. Might as well tell Jeff and Kayley as well." Hogan said.
"You know, we should have probably talked about that sooner. But Kayley has mentioned the Alteras Games. I'm assuming it has to do with the tower." Jet added.
"So what do we do now?" Tulle asked.
"What we come out here to do. Get supplies." Jet was not kidding about the supplies. If there is one thing he learned over the last year, be prepared.
They got back a few hours early. Jet had them go to the barn with the dead deer while he went to get Jeff and Kayley. It wouldn't hurt them to get a few more hours of training. He walked up to the house and opened the door. There were two naked people on the couch with their backs to him. Shutting the door quietly, he walked to the barn. "I've decided we need to collect some more stuff. Leave the deer there. I'll get to it when we get back." Jet didn't even wait for an answer before walking into the forest.
"Jet, I think we got too much stuff." Tulle frowned.
"There's no such thing as to much stuff." Jet lied. They most definitely got too much. But he figured Kayley could put more in her earring. Maybe, he had no clue what one could even hold. Now he was a bit curious about what she kept in them. 'I hope they're done when we get back.' He complained internally.
"Maybe I'll open a restaurant." Hogan thought aloud.
"That was random." Jet said.
"Yeah, I've been thinking of what to do. Some of your recipes would go over great." Hogan smiled.
Jet laughed. "I'll write down some recipes before we leave. Now, remember to experiment and make some new recipes."

"Oh, there are some apples in this tree." Tulle stared up.
Jet looked up and was certain they were not apples. But words have been off before in this world. Before he could ask what they tasted like, Tulle was already standing on a Soul Plate, picking them. Then he remembered it was pointless asking what stuff tasted like because, in this world, everything seemed to be wrong. "Thought we had too much already?"
"As you said, we can't have too much." Tulle hummed while picking them.
Once they got back, Jet noticed Jeff and Kayley doing warm-up exercises. He walked right by and opened the door to the house. "I'm starting lunch."
"Jet's been acting weird ever since we came back the first time." Tulle explained.
Both Jeff and Kayley stopped stretching. "You guys were here earlier?" Jeff asked.
"Yeah, he went to the house and came back saying we needed to collect more stuff." By this time, Kayley was blushing while Tulle talked.
"I'll go talk to him." Jeff walked to the house, went in, and went to the kitchen. Jet had already got stuff out to make lunch. "So, do you want to talk?"
Jet froze, 'did I let my plan slip at some point?' He rubbed his chin. "What about?"
"About what you saw earlier," Jeff said.
Jet, confused, looked at Jeff. 'What is he talking about?' He had completely forgotten about what had happened. But it didn't take long for him to remember. "Oh, that, no, I don't. None of my business what you two do. Just try to do it in your room next time."
"Tulle acted like you been silent since the incident," Jeff explained.
"Yeah, I have a lot on my mind right now." Jet flipped the burgers he was making. 'I'm sorry for what I have to do, my friend. But after what I saw, it has to be done.'
"Jet, are you alright?" Jeff asked.
Jet smiled. "Yup, just fine. Hope you and Kayley are ready for our match after lunch."
"Don't worry. We have been working on a way to get you." Jeff said.
"You got me last time." Jet added.
"We feel like you weren't trying." Jeff pointed out.
"I wasn't. If I had, you would probably be dead. That's the biggest problem with fighting. It's either you or them. So when it comes to training, you can't learn everything." Jet finished up with their lunches. "Go get everyone. Lunch is ready."
Jet stood in front of Jeff and Kayley, debating just how much magic he should use on them. His body felt better now, so he decided to go all out. The first time he wasn't quite up to the task. However, his all-out would be a quarter of his magic. If they made him use more than that, he would give them the victory. Jet didn't want to be low on magic, considering what he was about to do.
"So how we doing this, Sir Jetsford?" Kayley looked at him.
"Come at me with everything you got, of course." Jet waved his hand.
Jeff looked a bit worried. "Is that why we're so far away from the house?"
Jet nodded and gave a signal to begin. Kayley had the shadows surrounding him, but Jet didn't teleport away. The ground shook and cracked. The shadows did as well. He had wondered if he moved the shadows she was using what would happen. Now he knew the shadows she was using were shattered since the shadows used had changed. This did not get rid of all her shadows, but enough that he could dodge the rest of them. The earthquake had also knocked her off balance. Too bad for Jet. Jeff was already flying his way. Jeff was expecting Jet to teleport behind him to take him out early. That was not what he had done. Jet used his magic to leap into the air directly at Jeff. Before they got close, Jet made a Soul Plate to kick, making him go just above Jeff. He placed a hand on Jeff's back and used wind magic to shoot him at the ground.
Kayley had to dodge to the side so Jeff wouldn't land on her. She got enough shadows around, making a cage to block Jet in. Now that Jet was trapped, he would have to use his teleport. Which is what they were after. But Jet didn't use his teleport. Instead, he used several wind blades, knocking down the forest. The shadows around them bent and twisted, Messing up Kayley's cage. It didn't completely mess the cage up, but enough for Jet to use another Soul Plate to kick his way out. Jeff had sent several iron balls at him at some point. One hit Jet in the should, which numbed his whole arm. Using Overdrive, he quickly dodged the rest of the balls. Jet frowned. He had already used ten percent of his magic. Not only that, if he used three more Soul Plates, he wouldn't be able to teleport.
Jet noticed Jeff getting ready for another charge at him. The air around Jeff froze, locking him into place. Kayley made sure to move away not to get frozen as well. Jet had actually moved all the water in the air around Kayley to use it on her. But Jet had accidentally knocked Jeff into the way. He could make and freeze the water, but it would use more magic. That had been getting him into trouble lately. He was using far too much magic. While Jet was distracted, the ice shattered around Jeff. He had used iron to vibrate the ice to pieces.
'Ok, screw it.' Jet thought and sent an extraordinary amount of magic into the ground. It cracked in places as he stole the soil for spikes. Both Jeff and Kayley become surrounded by hundreds of spikes. Neither got stabbed by them, but Jet could see he scared the crap out of Kayley, who raised her hands in surrender. Everything around Jeff blew apart, and he flew at Jet. He raised and hand in, ready as Jeff came closer and closer. Jet grabbed Jeff's armor-plated hand and sent a lightning charge through it into Jeff. Who collapsed onto the ground unconscious.
"Did you kill him?" Kayley asked in horror at what Jet had done.
Jet didn't think he had put too much magic into the attack. But to be sure, he checked Jeff's pulse. His heartbeat felt strong, so Jet sighed in relief. "Don't worry. He is just fine." Jet looked down to see something sparkling falling out of Jeff's pocket. It had been the ice he kept with him. Then a memory struck Jet like lightning. "Crap, I had Amanda's engagement ring on me."

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic. All the while as she fatten herself up. So yeah, progression fantasy. But there's Litrpg! Numbers! Magic! Spells! And of course! There's something more. But read on ahead, please. Oh yes. Plot! There is, too. Disclaimer: The cover isn't made by me. Just layered it with a text. I got it from a free website, if I correctly recall. I'll see to it. (Haven't worked on it.)
