I laid in bed, unable to move. My head was aching but my throat was aching even more. Ashtray was already up, surprisingly. He was up and ready to go and deal with Fez down at the gas station and later on, they were gonna sell at a party. But i was too unwell to help today, Ash just thought i was being lazy.
"Y/n! Ma, come on, we have to go!" He called out to me, but i had no energy to reply, plus my throat was absolutely killing me. He walked into the room and his impatient look disappeared when he saw me snuggled into the pillows, blankets all over the place. "You're actually sick? I thought you were being dramatic" he spoke in a monotone voice.
"It hurts..." was all I managed to say but it came out croaky, like a frog...making me sound funny. "Oh baby...i wish i could stay here to look after you but Fez needs my help today" he spoke, sitting on the bed and stroking my warm cheek. He then felt my forehead. "You definitely have a temperature" he said with a frown. Ashtray leaned down and kissed my forehead before walking off.
A few minutes later, he came back with a warm, wet flannel and laid it across my forehead. He left again only to return with some ice water and soup, he knew i often had that when i was unwell. "Some stuff for you and tablets over on the bedside table incase you need 'em, okay ma?" My boyfriend spoke with a gentle tone. I frowned as he stood up, i was gonna be left alone, in Fez and Ashtrays apartment...sick.
"Ashtray, please stay!" I sniffled, am i getting the cold now too?! "Y/n i-" "Im sure Fez will understand, please just stay until i fall asleep at least..." I whispered, not wanting to raise my voice in the slightest, thinking it might trigger the pain in my throat. Ash sighed and nodded. "Okay, i'll stay for awhile" he replied, giving in with a slight smile.

He took off his shoes and got into some comfortable clothes before messaging Fez and leaving him a voice message to explain why he wasn't going to show up, as Fez was not answering his phone.
After all that, Ashtray laid beside me and we laid face to face. He stroked my cheek with his thumb, soothing me, making my eyes slowly shut and a smile to form at the corner of my lips. I fell asleep with a now cold flanney on my forehead and Ashtray slowly soothing me to a peaceful sleep.

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.
