《Knights, Nobles, and Cannibals》Stuck in the Middle

Trapped deep in the core of the planet Tenare this group of unlikely allies had collided into place.

“OOh” said Ned.

He was a wizard being stabbed in the eye with a necromancy crystal and coming alive.

“Wake up dead. I suspect this will be the first case of a living corpse more useful than his living counterpart” laughed Nancy, the necromancer who had just completed the resurrection.

She had revived Ned from the dead, and herself was nothing but a skeleton in her previously forged by a love interest royal plot armor.

“Ha ha no fear for I have long ago fortified myself from the ill effects of death with crystal vitamins” said Ned rising.

“Nonsense I can see by your slack jaw death has sent you back to the basics mentally” said Nancy.

Ned dusted the frozen snow off his body. A piece of his frozen wizard robe broke off shattering on impact with the floor. He looked at his arms light blue, and his fingers a dozen shades darker hue. One thumb had broken in half, and fallen somewhere lost. If being dead had numbed the pain receptors in his mind to this degree what other ways had he been impacted?

“It is what it is. What do you plan on getting home for that I'm still waiting” stammered the dead wizard.

"Useless frigid brains over here if I knew I wouldn't have revived you” said Nancy smacking the corpse in the back of the head.

He didn’t react. Both of them stood next to a long extinguished fire pit that the wizard had frozen to death beside. The rest of the room was a large cavern in the mountains of the core of Tenare. A frozen landscape where even the dead didn’t like living here for very long.

On the other side of the cave stalagmites and stalactites formed a maze of spikes. Inside of this the two leprechauns hid. Micky watched the dead from a distance. Ratom shivered, and quivered hiding under a blanket he had unfolded out of his hat.

“We will be like them soon. Ghouls. I'm afraid Micky bbbbbbbbb'' said Ratom under covers.

“I will fix us a way to get some heat brother. You just stay under cover, and I'll be right back with it” said Micky running away.

“We're doomed!” cried Ratom.

He had formed a ball under his blanket, and convulsed around to find the best fold to conserve his heat.

“Ahh so cute a little green guy” said Nancy fawning over Micky as he ran by.

“I need heat dead provide it before I start slicing, '' demanded Micky.

“Behind me there's a whole lot of little crystals. What you need to do is find my flint on the floor, and get some baby magma to stay warm” said Ned.

“Good info corpse my thanks” said Micky who had already retrieved the flint.

He walked backwards to where the wizard had pointed, not taking an eye of either dead. The cavern was dimly lit, and it was hard to tell what crystal varieties he had picked up. Micky cradled an arm load and sprinted back over to his brother. He dumped their lifeline in a pile. A few sparks from the flint let him do a quick sort. It was a lucky moment at least with so much magma he had picked.

Ratom stuck his head out of his blanket like a turtle upon hearing the first crackles of fire. Micky sparked the flint over and over before the rocks caught on fire. The heat quickly spread its embrace, keeping them alive; the Magma was their savior.

“I hate to be the doomsayer here, but the problem with surviving this place alive is that there’s no food” said the dead wizard approaching from behind.

Ratom jumped from where he lay still using his blanket as a shield from the world. Nancy put her hands into peace signs where she stood behind him. Ned backed off pushing her skeleton over to a crash of metal. Micky laughed, and his brother let out a small smile.

“Nancy, watch out where you're going, what's wrong with you” said the wizard joining in.

“Ha ha ha” he laughed.

“I’m the one who's going to go out and catch the living food so don’t laugh to hard at me unless you want to join team dead” said Nancy knocking dust off her skeleton.

“Then I'm afraid it is already too late as I was waiting on you to feed me originally” laughed Ned.

“Nonsense I was caught by the queen, see here a hare I have stashed for the first feast” said Nancy heading to the door.

Ned followed her a short distance where she started throwing rocks off the cliff edge. As he got closer she picked up a frozen rabbit that had been hidden. Ned shook his head.

“This entire time I starved to death and my cure was just outside” he cried “Now my once brilliant mind is fried”.

Nancy cackled.

“I think if you were so brilliant you probably wouldn’t have been such a dependent on me in the first place” said Nancy feeling her way along the cave wall.

“Wow look at the fancy feast she got us Rotom. We will eat well tonight” said Micky.

Nancy approached sticking her bony hands, and the hare directly in the fire. The meat quickly cooked, letting off a mouth watering sent all throughout the cavern. Being nothing but bone Nancy had the leprechauns be her eyes while she adjusted the meat in the fire with a firm grip.

"So we got any kind of plan yet?" asked Micky.

"Revenge is the main course, consider yourself lucky if I can manage to keep you alive" said Nancy.

They both gulped, while the wizard shook his head from where he watched.

"Yeah don't depend on this one she isn't a team player" said Ned.

"I play for team dead" said Nancy smiling her empty eye sockets showing no light.
