I open my eyes to someone hovering over me. My eyes shoot open

"Wake up!" Payton shouts

"I'm up!" I snap back

"Good, you have school in an hour"

"Wait what—" he has already left my room

I roll out of bed and find an outfit in my wardrobe.

I wouldn't normally wear it but what the heck

I walk downstairs after washing my face and doing my hair. Most of the boys were sitting at the lunch table.

"Good morning" Liam politely says while smiling

"Morning" I manage to say, still half asleep

"You excited for school?" Liam asks

"Who gets excited about school?" Payton half asks, half laughs

"I didn't even know I was going" I answer

"Max didn't tell you?" Liam seems surprised

Max walks into the room with a bag on his back

"It's not something that came up in conversation" Max shrugs

I sit down next to Payton. Liam pours me a bowl of cereal and then places it in front of me with a spoon.

"Do you all go to school?" I ask

"Of course, we hate it but it's something we have to do I guess" Payton says while taking a mouth full of cereal

In the corner of my eye, I see Zed. He walks into the living room and then walks back out 3 minutes later. His hair is pushed back, his leather jacket shows a few of his muscles but not all.

He walks into the kitchen where Max was and then enters the room I'm in.

"Good morning Zed" Liam is so happy in the morning

"Yeah whatever" Zed mumbles

"Someone's happy" Payton says

"It was a rough night... okay?" Zed says as he sits down next to me.

Me and Zed share a glance before looking in different directions

"Where's Cole and Zack?" I ask

"Still asleep" Max answers as he walks through the room.

Still asleep?

"Oh okay" I haven't really got anything else to say

We finish our breakfast before Cole and Zack walks downstairs

"Why are you all ready to go somewhere?" Zack says while yawning

"School idiot" Zed responds

"I hate that place" Zack groans

"We will go get ready now" Cole says, he grabs Zack and they walk back upstairs

After everyone is ready, we leave for school. The school looks big... really big! We walk inside and all eyes are on me. I hate this already.

"Zed will show you to your locker" Max says

"I will do no such thing" Zed snaps at Max

"Just help her out Zed" Max pleads

"Fine but you owe me" Zed says before grabbing my arm

We walk down the hall while everyone stares at us. We stop at a locker

"This is yours!" Zed says trying not to look at me

"Thanks? But you don't have to be a jerk to me"

"You don't understand" he mumbles

"Then enlighten me"

"You don't want to be seen with me in school, it's better if we keep our distance" he says into my ear

I nod once, he leaves really quick. I try to open my locker but it doesn't budge. Then a guy walks up behind me and opens the locker for me

"Umm thanks?" I say with an uncertain voice

"Don't mention it, your new aren't you?" He asks

"Yeah"

"I'm chase" chase? CHASE?

Dang it

"I need to go—" I try to close my locker and run but he pins me to the locker next to mine

"So they've told you about me" he says into my neck before moving his head back to meet my eyes

"N- no they haven't" I stutter

"What have they said?"

"Nothing"

He hits the locker passing the side of my head making me jump a little and squeal

"Tell me!" He demands

"That your dangerous and you want to hurt me" i spurt out

"Is that all?"

I nod once

"Good" he moves closer to me "they aren't wrong" he steps away from me "be carful... Whatever you hear about me, is always true" he smirks and then walks away from me

Some girl runs up to me and looks worried

"Are you okay? What did he say? Did he hurt you?" Her worried voice makes me uncomfortable

"I'm fine"

"I'm hazel" she smiles

"I'm Maddie"

"Nice name"

She's very happy

"Thanks..."

Hazel looks to the side of me and then back at me with a scared look

"I need to go but I'll see you around" she says before running off

Liam and Payton walk up to me

"Are you going to scare off every friend I try to make?" I say as they look at the dent in the locker next to me

"Who did that?" Liam ask's

"Did you not hear me?" I question

"Answer my question" Liam demands

"C- Chase" I stutter to say his name

"Chase found you? He knows!" Payton sounds worried as hell

"We need to tell Max" Liam says

"No! Please, don't tell Max!" I beg

"Why not? He needs to know" Payton asks

"He'll be really protective and won't let me out of his sight" I sigh "I can't have him looking over my shoulder all the time!"

"Fine, but if chase comes back, we will tell Max" Payton and Liam look at each other before leaving
