《Interspecies. (Alien Fanfic)》The Finale

We walked through the halls, noticing that we were in the merchant area. We had been on our feet for an hour so far, getting a little lost here and there. The walls of the station were illuminated in red blaring lights, signaling it was an emergency. It was close to giving me a head ache. As we approached the end of the hall, right next door to a food shop, we noticed the large automated doors were closed.

"Shit." I sighed out loud, touching the heavy metal doors to see if there was anything I could do.

"What?"

"These doors close automatically and don't reopen until it's been established that there is no more emergency or evacuation." I explained, typing different codes into the keypad, knowing that even if I had the right code they wouldn't open. I just figured I'd try.

"So what do we do now?" James asked, as I stood still tapping my foot as I thought of a solution.

"Well... We could go all the way to the head of the ship and disarm the doors but that would make a lot of noise. Attract the Xenomorph's to this one location."

"Is there anything else we could do?" He asked and I snapped my fingers as I remembered.

"Yeah! Okay, so there's usually a few security guards in this area, to monitor the area. If none of them escaped or have died, we could snag their key card and use the smaller security door, that accesses to the back of the shops."

"Sounds a little morbid, hoping there are dead people on the ship but alright. I guess let's split up and search around?" He asked as I nodded, both going in opposite directions to search. I first ducked into a different food shop, the fresh smell of spices and cooked meat filling my nose. I gulped as I looked for any dead body of the security guard, hitching my breath when I did find a body but not the one I needed.

This man didn't get the chance to escape. An employee of the shop, his head suffering from a head bite. I knelt down to get a closer look, before hearing a loud CLUNK behind me. I quickly turned, seeing a tail drop down from a vent. I shook in fear as it dropped down with a loud screech. This wasn't Zerksis.

It raised it's tail and I snapped out of my frozen fear as I jumped out of the way, it's tail colliding with the dead body. It just pierced the man with ease, before pulling it out. The crimson red blood dripping from it's tail as it turned it's head to me and lunge at me. I barely made it away, only receiving a deep scratch from it's long and sharp nails. I hissed at the pain, before backing up against the wall.

My shaky hand aimed the gun in it at the Xenomorph. I closed my eyes as I heard it's large body lift off the floor. I didn't even look, my hand getting a bit numb as I shot it. I opened my eyes, hearing the sound of it's Exoskeleton cracking from the bullet. It's now lifeless body fell limp, straight onto an oiled up grill that was still on. It caused it's body to light up in flames, cooking it before the acid from it's bullet wound melted into the metal.

I sat there in shock, my hand shaking as it dropped the weapon as I heard loud foot steps. I instantly recognized them as James as he fell to my side.

"Helena! Helena are you alright?" He asked, before I nodded.

My heart was pumping as my body shook before he grabbed my arms and helped me to my feet.

"I know it's scary but come on we have to go. I found the key card and the gunshot was loud, we have to go." He bent down, grabbing the gun and giving it back to me. He grabbed my free hand as we ran out of the shop, screeching being heard behind us as the Xenomorph's grew closer. The run to the door was a blurry image, as we entered and slammed the door behind us. I took a deep breath as James bent down to my height.

"Helena, hey. I need you to focus okay? Where are we heading?" He asked before I refocused my mind, before pointing to the left.

"S-Straight down that way, until we uhhh..." I tried thinking as I ran behind him, my mind in shambles after the encounter. I killed the very thing I was fond of, what I loved studying.

"Until we see the large yellow pipes going left. We take the left when we get to them." We continued running, trying to put as much distance between us and the Xenomorph's. I sighed as we slowed down as we got to the end, approaching the large yellow pipes.

"Thanks for snapping me out of uh, out of whatever that was..." I gestured back to where we were, scratching my head.

"Don't mention it. Sometimes killing anything puts you in shock. It's normal." He reassured me, hugging me before he grabbed my hand and sped walk down the left. As we continued to walk, I stopped. My hand holding him back as I noticed something.

"You hear that?" I asked, as he looked in different directions.

"No... Why?"

"I don't hear anything either. This vent has a fan in it at the end. It should still be going, even in an emergency." I turned to the vent in the wall to our right. My heart sped up faster, as well as my breathing. I began to shake as my head steadily went to my headset, clicking a button and shining a flashlight down the vent.

My heart and stomach dropped, seeing multiple Xenomorph's climbing their way towards us.

"Move!" James yelled as he grabbed my hand, running down the hallway. We were being ambushed and hunted. I took in deep breaths as I kept my head forward as I ran. I had to regain my focus and help James out.

"Follow me!" I yelled, letting go of his hand as I took the lead. He turned around, running backwards as best he could. He began shooting his rifle, hearing bullets connect to the Xenomorph's. I got to the end of the hall. The right being a dead end, the left connecting to a door. I grabbed the key card as we entered the door but we knew the small metal door wouldn't hold back the numerous amounts. We held it shut with our bodies, but looked around for solutions. I gulped, knowing we weren't in the right place. It shouldn't have taken us this long to get to a safe house or something.

"Hey, I got something." James said, turning to me. He went through his pockets before pulling out a hand grenade.

"What the fuck?"

"Trust me! Just, open the door when I say and then run. Like. Hell." He said, looking me firmly in the eyes.

I only nodded as he pulled the key from the grenade and yelled to open the door. I nodded, opening as he rolled it into them and grabbed me and ran to a corner behind a wall. A large explosion went off, the metal door flying and connecting to the wall in front of us.

The sound of sizzling acid against walls and the floor filled my ears as I looked out from the behind the wall, the Xenomorph's disposed of, the only thing remaining was the acid blood eating through everything.

"We need to go somewhere and fast. That was loud, louder than the security doors would've made." James said and I shrugged.

"I don't know where we are. We should've been at a safe point now! We took a detour!"

"It doesn't matter where it is! We just need somewhere that we can hide out at."

I stood there thinking, trying to remember where there was a place.

"Some vents have... Dead ends that we could hide in, maybe fit two of us?" I suggested and he nodded. We didn't have any choice at this point. "I'll look for one."

We ran around, looking for a vent that could hide both of us. I came across one that was the shape of a circle, unfolding at our motions coming by. I looked inside, before nodding. I stepped in, attempting to turn on my flashlight. It flickered, but wouldn't stay on. I wasted the damn batteries as we ran away from the horde. How stupid am I?

I sighed, taking my chance and looking for the end of the tunnel vent, but before I knew it I slipped and started going down at an unreasonably fast. I heard my name from James mouth as he jumped on after me, before I fell forward against something that made a wet and squishy sound, but everything went black after that.

-----------

I furrowed my brows as a slamming head ache throbbed throughout my head. Everything was dark, and wet. I opened my eyes, trying to get my bearings. My breathing began to pick up as I looked around. I was embedded into a wall. A Xenomorph nest wall.

Everything was sticky. I was stuck, sticky and wet. I struggled under the weight of it all, trying to free myself. I looked around, seeing an sign of James but not finding one. I whimpered at the egg in front of me, wiggling violently in any attempt to free myself.

It wasn't working.

The egg began to move as it's four entrance folds began to open.

I took a deep breath.

Was this how I was going to end? A host for a Xenomorph that would burst through my chest and kill me?

It wasn't a good death. I know it is painful, excruciating and slow. I saw the tiny legs crawl as the face hugger emerged from the egg, it's tail wiggling as it prepared to pounce me. I closed my eyes, awaiting my fate.

I heard a loud shot ring in my ears, my body flinching.

Was that the sound of death, I wonder?

I still felt alive. I opened an eye to see James pointing his hand gun, my heart jumping with joy at the little hero act.

"James! Get me out of here!" I yelled as he ran to my side, grabbing his hunting knife and cutting me free. I fell against his chest as he caught me, before kissing me softly.

"You smell and feel awful." He chuckled as he pulled away. Our moment was short lived.

The walls began to move.

To MOVE. Crawling with Xenomorph's. We were in their hive, their nest. I looked around before seeing in the distance.

A large black figure with a beige sac attached.

The Queen.

I kept still, not moving before I grabbed his gun and shot a Xenomorph. James began to shoot from his rifle as we made our way to an exit. The Queen began to shriek and scream at the gun fire, as we got to the door.

"This is the last one I have." He grabbed his last hand grenade, handing it to me as he covered the both of us with gunfire. I pulled the key and through it into the nest, numerous unhatched eggs exploding after a second, but I didn't throw it far enough.

Curse my weak arm.

She began to move and shake, before pulling away from her sac. Her large and impressive crest began to shin in the dim light as she stood behind her small army.

A small army of intelligent organisms, killing machines.

We ran out of the door, up a flight of stairs as we left the nest in flames. This place was falling apart, that fire will destroy the ship eventually. The water extinguishers won't put it out, and it will eventually explode this ship.

Time was against us.

We ran as fast as we could, the small army behind us.

We rammed through the next door, stopping to look around.

"There! Right there! The Escape pods!" I screamed.

Looked like our detour actually did help us in the end. I ran towards them, my hands shaking as I tried to open it. I only knew a few codes that could open it, and this was the last one. The last escape pod and our only lifeline.

James stood behind me, letting out a yell when a large crash sound came and debris flying at us. I looked at the source, my eyes trailing from the floor up to the ceiling.

The Queen was standing before me.

She was surrounded by her hive.

James stood up, attempting to aim a gun before the Queen screamed and aimed her tail at him. It flew at him, impaling him and throwing him against the wall.

"James!" I screamed, running towards him but something hit me. Something strong and hard, as I hit the wall and slumping down against the wall he was at.

I felt a copper taste in my mouth before spitting, blood splattering at the floor. My ribs were broken, shattered even.

The Queen threw me.

Everything was so... Hazy and blurry. I must've hit my head.

I closed my eyes, feeling the blood rush down my ear as I waited once again for my ending. Maybe a head bite, maybe a chest burster.

At least it wasn't something boring, like old age or cancer.

I heard a splatter, making me open my eyes as I knew it wasn't me who died.

It was a drone in front of me, it's head impaled by a jagged Xenomorph tail, the acid blood melting into the floor that was in between my legs.

It BARELY missed me. I shook my head, regaining my senses as I followed the source the tail towards my right.

"Zerksis!" I yelled in joy as he bumped his head against mine softly, greeting me as his tail slid out of the Xenomorph's skull. Our greeting was short as he turned his attention to the horde, that instantly went to attack him.

Why wouldn't they?

He was a traitor.

He ran through them all. Dodged them all like the apex and deviant he was. He lunged at the Queen, mounting her back as he began using his inner jaw to puncture several weak points. She screamed at the hindrance on her back. She used her arms and tail to try to get him off. Her army began to assist her in tackling her to the ground. I took this as my queue to get to the escape pod. I grabbed James by the arm, noticing her tail only hit him in his right shoulder.

It did serious damage but... He was breathing.

I quickly crept behind the frenzied horde, attempting to get the traitor off their Queen as he jumped and bounced around, dodging them all as they trampled their Queen. I entered the last remaining code I knew, before it opened.

I smiled in relief as I practically threw the behemoth of a man, James, into it. I stepped in as I typed in a code.

"Zerksis!" I yelled out, as I grabbed his attention, the doors slowly beginning to close. He looked towards me, before crawling on the ceiling towards the pod, and lunging forward to jump in.

But a large tail wrapped around his neck, the Queen's tail as she stood up, recovering from the trample she endured.

My body froze as the doors closed, the Queen pulling Zerksis back towards her. I ran at the door, slamming my hands against it.

"No!!! Zerksis!" I screamed, as it launched.

I pounded my fists against the door, tears falling down my eyes as James wrapped his arms around me and pulled me away from the door.

"No, no, no, no!! Zerksis!" I screamed, my body going limp as I fell to my knees.
