《Coming together (Dramione)》Ch. 1

The sun shone high up in the sky with white fluffy clouds and a gentle breeze blowing Draco's blonde hair back. With a green leash in his hand, he walked along side with his dog Dexter, a Border Collie. They walked around the park calmly until Dexter started running for no reason and pulled Draco with him. "Calm down boy!" Draco yelled as the leash escaped his hand. Dexter knocked over a young lady to the ground spilling her paper everywhere. "I'm so sorry!" Draco exclaimed picking up the papers, suddenly he caught a glimpse of the lady's face,"Granger?"
The lady turned to him and squinted her eyes at him, "do I know you?"
"Granger, it's me, Draco."
Hermione scowled, "what are you doing here?"
Draco smirked grabbing the dog's leash, "I'm walking my dog."
Hermione, who was still on the floor, rolled her eyes. "I meant, why are you in the muggle world?"
"Oh that." He stretched a hand to help her up which she reluctantly took. "I was tired of the ministry constantly watching over my shoulder. I started a business here after I missed someone that I never thought I'd miss. I actually live on the building in front of here. You can always stop by if you need anything, it gets lonely. Even if I have Dexter here." He petted the dog's head as they walked.
"Why are you being nice?" Hermione asked curiously.
"Well, I guess I've changed. What about you? Have you changed? Are you still with the Weasel?"
Hermione shook her head lightly, "Ron cheated on me multiple times and Harry found out but didn't tell me because he thought Ron should. I moved to the muggle world and it's just me against the world now." She shuffled the papers on her hand sighing.
"What are those papers about?"
Hermione hugged them close to her, "it's nothing important."
"They have the St.Mungos stamp on them, are you sure it's nothing important?" Draco kept eyeing the papers curious to see what they were about.
"I'm sure Malfoy." She began to walk faster but Draco grabbed her shoulder for her to slow down.
"Sorry." He mumbled. "Hey do you want to go grab a bite? That truck sells some pretty good pizza."
Hermione shrugged and followed him to the truck. She got her money out to pay but he payed for her, "Malfoy, I can pay for myself."
He turned to her giving her te pizza and her water, "Granger, it's fine. I'm still rich you know." They went to sit down at a picnic table with Hermione following right behind. Draco took off his backpack taking out a two small bowls for his dog's water and food.
Hermione took a small bite of her pizza and smiled, "this is great pizza!"
"Told you." Draco chuckled winked at her playfully.
"You're not as bad as I remember." Hermione pointed out before taking another bite of her pizza.
"Yeah but that's because I got tired of people like me. Everyone, even some of my friends, started criticising me and blaming me." He shook his head and looked down at his pizza then at Dexter. "Dexter here has kept me sane. Isn't that right buddy?" Dexter looked over at him and licked his cheek, "Dexter is my best mate now."
"What happened to Zabini?"
Draco sighed sadly, "Blaise stopped visiting a while ago. It's hard to find people to talk to nowadays. Dexter is great company but sometimes I just want someone to talk to."

Hermione nodded in agreement, " I get it. After I left to come here, I didn't have anyone. At least I have my neighbour Cindy." Hermione looked over at her watch and frowned with disappointment, "I have to get going. I never thought of saying this but it was good talking to you." She took her papers and stood up.
"Granger?" Draco called. She turned around, "it was good talking to you too. See you around?" Hermione nodded politely and left without another word. Draco turned his attention to Dexter who stared at him with his head slanted to the right. "Come on, let's go walk around." He started picking yo his stuff when he noticed a paper left behind by Hermione.
Bucket list for the next two years:
-see my parents again
-own a library
-go on a normal muggle date
-fly a broom
-travel to Paris
-try to talk to my old friends again
-go camping with a friend
-sleep on a rooftop
-go to a concert
-get married
Draco stared at the paper for a while figuring out why it was a bucket list. This girl was completely healthy as far as he knew. "Come on Dexter." He folded the paper and put it in his pocket and grabbed the leash to walk with Dexter. "You know Dexter, we're going to make this list true. I don't care about her though, don't get the wrong ideas. First, we need to become her friends again. Make her remember how I was before everything happened."
~~~~~~
For the following week, Draco saw Hermione at least one time each day. One day, when he bought her ice cream he noticed something on her arm. "Granger, did you go to the hospital?"
Hermione pulled down her sleeve to cover the hospital bracelet, "it doesn't matter."
Dexter put the tennis ball on her jeans and leaned on her legs. "Dexter thinks it matters." Draco pointed out.
Hermione smiled at the dog and petted its head gently. "I did."
"What did the doctors tell you?"
Hermione swiped her tear away, "I'm sick. I have gone to St. Mungos to see if they could do anything but they can't. I have a disease it's not contagious but if the treatment fails, I will only be alive for so long." She pressed her hands to her face to hide her sobbing.
Draco, after much consideration, put his hand on her back and began rubbing her back up and down. "How long?"
"With the treatment constantly done, at least a year or two."
Dexter stood up and put his head on her shoulder whining. "Is there anything you want to do to make it count?" Draco asked carefully.
"Yeah, I have a bucket list. I doubt that I will complete it." She hugged Dexter gently.
"Is it this list by any chance?" He handed her the paper and she nodded not even caring that he had it. "I have tickets for a concert for this band my worker recommended. Do you want to come with me?"Hermione nodded slightly, "good. I'll pick you up at 8:30."
"Thank you Draco." She whispered softly.
Draco nodded, "It's good having you around. So let's enjoy this friendship whilst we can. Anyways I should go back to my flat, I have papers to sign." Dexter followed Draco to their flat. Draco sighed remembering his 7th year at Hogwarts.
"You know Draco, I'm glad we're friends now." The brunette said smiled as she threw a rock at the lake.
"Yeah well, living in the same dorm was going to be complicated with us being enemies." The blond chuckled slightly.
"Oh my look!" The brunette pointed at dog-rose growing on the grass.
"A dog-rose?" The blond raised an eyebrow at her.
"It's my favourite!" The brunette exclaimed.
Draco smiled at the memory, "Dexter, do you think that if I bring her a dog-Rose, she'll like it?" Dexter tail swayed from side to side happily and he stoop up putting his front paws on his chest causing Draco to fall down. "I'll take that as a yes. You mister need a shower. Come on."
The dog followed his owner to the restroom and got in the bathtub without complains. "You know Dexter, it's 5:30 meaning I have two hours and thirty minutes to get ready. Meaning I have to leave you at 7:00 to go buy her the flower. You have to behave, please buddy." The dog licked Draco's cheek again.
Two hours later, Draco was well dressed for the occasion wearing white converse, black jeans with a white shirt and he had a leather jacket just in case. He sprayed cologne on and got the tickets and his keys. He drove in his car, a grey mustang that had a snake painted on the back, to the flower shop picking up a small bouquet of Hermione's favourite flowers. He turned the radio on as he headed to pick up Hermione.
He knocked on her door just loud enough for her to hear and kept the flowers behind his back. Hermione appeared wearing a white crop-top with black high-waisted shorts. He hair was pinned back with a red pin. "Hi Draco, I was just getting ready." She looked down, "I haven't seen you wear converse ever since-"
"I know. Oh here." He handed her the flowers.
Hermione bit her lip taking the flowers, "Look I'm sorry for what happened that day. I just-"
"Don't worry about it Granger." Draco stepped aside and offered his hand which Hermione took, "m'lady, your carriage awaits."
"The car is very Slytherin of you." Hermione pointed out with a small laugh.
Draco chuckled opening the door for her, "yeah well, that was my house." He closed te door and headed to his side.
"So," Hermione started, "I'm glad that I could see you again."
"Me too Granger. Hopefully this time nothing will happen." Draco sighed, "I get you loved or love him but why did you let him come between us? Even after he stood you up, you still did what he asked."
Hermione looked at him biting her lip with guilt. "I don't know, he got in my head and I....... I regret my decision everyday. I don't love him, not after what he did. The day I found out, I wanted to run back to you. I wanted to find you and cry and I just wanted to hear 'I told you so'."
"I did miss you a lot. I'm sorry of wha I said when you stopped being my friend."
Hermione gave him a sincere smile, "I deserved it. I'm the one who should be sorry."
Draco looked at her quickly, "let's just enjoy this." He parked into a free space and smiled at her. "You look beautiful by the way."
Hermione's cheeks got rosy, "thank you Draco." She looked around noticing they were at a park she'd never seen before, "it's a concert in the park?"
"Yeah I guess it is. I hope you don't mind, we can walk around for a whilst. There's also a small carnival if I can see correctly." He opened his door grabbing his jacket and exited the car.
Hermione followed him out the car to the entrance of the park. "Thank you for bringing me here." She put her hands over arms rubbing them up and down to keep warm.
"No problem. Oh umm here." He handed her his leather jacket which she put on fitting her big. "Are you hungry? Do you feel alright?"
Hermione smiled at his caring personality, "I am hungry, let's go find some food at the carnival. At what time does the concert start?"
"10:00 and it's," he looked down at his watch, "8:45. We have enough time to have fun and eat." He smiled at Hermione who smiled back in happiness.
"This is going to be fun." Hermione's gentle hands held onto his arm as they walked so she wouldn't get separated from him.
"Do you want some pizza or do you want something else?" Draco asked bringing her closer to him.
"Pizza will do. Thank you."
Draco smiled lightly, "my pleasure Lioness. Why do t you go get us a table?"
Hermione nodded getting around the large labyrinth of people towards an empty table. A guy with brown hair came over to her putting a hand on her thigh. Hermione swatted his hand away but then he grabbed her hands with one hand. "You're beautiful, alone, just for me." The guy gave her a wicked smile.
"I don't think that's a good idea buddy!" Draco growled behind her putting the pizzas down. "How about you leave and learn to respect ladies?"
The guy stood up angrily, "is this whore yours?"
Draco punched the guy, "DO NOT CALL GER A WHORE YOU FILTHY COCKROACH!" The guy ran away quickly afraid of what Draco would do next. "Did he do anything to you?" Hermione shook her head, "good. I would hunt him down if he had."
Hermione let out a soft laugh, "Draco, it's alright now. Come on, I'm hungry." She grabbed her pizza and began eating.
"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself." Draco grinned at Hermione who was beaming with happiness.
A few minutes later after they finished their pizza, both went on to walk around the carnival. Draco laughed as Hermione tried to shoot small hoops at the bottle necks and failing. "It's not funny!" She complained crossing her arms across her chest.
"Au contraire mon amie! It it very funny!" Draco exclaimed receiving a small slap from Hermione on his shoulder. "You wounded me."
Hermione rolled her eyes slapping him again. The man tending the game next to them smiled fondly, "aren't you two adorable? How about you young lad win a prize for the fair maiden? All you have to do is shoot these darts to those balloons and pop 'em!"
Draco examined the prizes and smirked, "I would love to win something for m'lady."
The man gave him four darts, "pop four and you'll win a big prize."
Draco nodded and began shooting the darts popping a balloon every time. With his final dart he bewitched it to pop two balloons instead of one. The man looked surprised at Draco who had a wild smirk plastered on his face. "I would like that lion right there!"
The man nodded giving him the stuffed lion which Draco then handed it to Hermione. "A lion for the lioness." Draco had said playfully with a wink. He glanced down at his watch, "we should get going to the concert lioness."
Hermione smiled dragging him to a corner to reduce the size of the stuffed lion to put it safely on the jacket's pocket. "Let's go!" Hermione giggled as she heard Draco chuckling to her dragging him excitedly to the concert.
Hermione kept jumping happily all throughout the concert making Draco wonder how she had so much energy. Finally the concert ended at about 12:00 or so. "Thank you so much Draco! This was an awesome experience!"
Draco chuckled lightly, "I'm glad you enjoyed it lioness. Let's get you home. By the way, are you free tomorrow morning?"
Hermione nodded happily, "why?"
"I just want to take you some place you'll love." Draco grinned keeping the mystery alive. "Now let's get you back to your house."
Hermione nodded getting in the car. She hugged the jacket close to her slowly drifting off to sleep.
Draco smiled boyishly at her soft audible snores. He drove smoothly to not wake her up. Once they got to her house, he used his wand to unlock her door before carrying her in. He carried her to various rooms as he didn't know where her room was but successfully reached it soon enough. He drove off to his flat with a grin still on his face. "Granger, I can't believe I'm this happy to see you happy. Damn woman, you've always made me wonder if what I believe was right."
