《The Other Nikiforov》'We are not dating!'

"I'm telling you in the 1960's the CIA did have a spy cat," Katrina protested, taking her strawberry frappaccino from the counter and over to their normal sitting spot. "It's code name was 'Acoustic Kitty', google it."

"You watch too much Tv sometimes," Yuri rolling his eyes, admittedly he thought the idea of a spy cat was pretty cool but he wasn't going to tell her that, taking his own drink.

Katrina eyeing the black coffee in his hand, "your going to spit that out 5 seconds after taking a sip."

"Am not," Yuri snapped back at her, the image of JJ calling him a girl thorough out the senior world championship made him want to rip the Canadians head off - although a gold medal turned out to work just as good - but he definitely didn't want to be called a girl again...even if it mean drinking the horrid black liquid.

"Are so," Katrina not even blinking at the blonde boy snappy attitude, she just smiled, resting her chin on her hands as she watched for the expected result. Yuri spitting out the bitter drink as soon as he took a sip just like normal, she laughed at his contorted face reacting to the strong black substance, it reminded her of when his cat tried a lemon - all scrunched up and cute. "Yuri if you like frappaccinos, you like frappacinos, it's no big deal."

"whatever," Yuri looking away from her, trying to salvage his reputation as the 'russian punk' just a little. He didn't just want JJ to stop calling him a girl, he also wanted Katrina to see him as a guy who could be a much better protector than-

"I heard Viktors back," Yuri turning his head slowly back to see Katrina slowly stirring her drink, her eyes looking down at the white and pink substance as she watched the swirls, the high whipped cream pyramid folding under the weight of oozing pink liquid. She didn't exactly sound happy to have her brother back in Russia but it wasn't the same tone of voice she had right before she was going to cry, it sounded solemn and serious, emotionlessly forcing the words from her lips to fill the quiet .

"Yeah..." Yuri not exactly sure how to talk to her about such a subject, for the last year Viktor had been a sore subject which resulted in very differing results - her throwing things, her crying or her ignoring it completely. She had spent a good few days just staying in bed, she didn't go to practice for a week, which was unusual for a girl who would always seem to be the first one on the ice and the last one off it - unless literally dragged off by Yakov, and when she did return it took a while for her to return to her bubbly self. She wasn't the same girl that had been left behind.

The day she came back was the day after he had returned from Japan after trying to get Viktor to come back himself, to lose to the Japanese piggy and come back empty handed. He'd been so frustrated at himself that day, that he lost to the piggy that had came last in the worlds, that he couldn't feel agape in the moment he needed to, that he had come empty handed without Viktor. Yet, he also remembered her standing at the airport arrivals area for him, she didn't look like herself just yet, the scars were still fresh and he could see it in her eyes, tired and lost in a world that seemed a lot more monochromatic as colour was yet to return to her, but she smiled at him, looking as if some kind of weight had been taken off her ever so slightly. 'Thank you for trying Yuri.' As bad as he felt for losing that stupid competition, he didn't feel completely angry about it.

"Yuri," he felt something very warm and soft touch his hand, he looked up through his loose blonde hair that had fallen over his eyes to see Katrina giving him a relaxed smile with her hand on his, "I'm ok," she broke into her regular relaxed smile, "I have the ice tiger of Russia protecting me after all."

Yuri smiled back at her, ever so very slightly and if you called him on it he would deny it completely, with his hair covering his face, "da."

"Oh my god," Mila muttering to herself out of ear shot, frustrated at the teens lack of progress in their relationship - despite that fact that it was very clear to anyone, bar the 2 skating prodigy's, that they liked each other. Come on they hung out all the time, coffee after practice, shopping trips just because, studying together - pretty much what you would expect teen couples to do except they weren't a couple (or so they claimed). Even when they were at different competitions they seemed to be glued to their phones messaging each other. When Viktor left, Yuri was the one to console her in her time of need.

"Oh Yuri," Katrina holding back tears in her beautiful blue eyes as she clung to the chest of the blonde Russian prodigy, "my brother he has left me all alone in this world, no trophy or medal could ever fill such a aching hole in my heart," she dramatically looked away from him, "I do not know how to go on."

"Do not cry my princess," Yuri lifting her chin up to make her timid blue eyes look directly into his strong green eyes, "I hate to see you in pain like this, such beautiful eyes should never be made to shed tears of sadness. I shall set out and bring your brother back to Russia if that is what you wish but for now, let me heal your heart with not trophies nor medals but with something more precious."

He leaned down, bringing his face closer to hers, his lips closer to hers, as they lost themselves in each other's eyes, letting the world slip away from them, parting their lips ever so slightly as they edged closer.

"Oh Yuri."

"Princess."

Mila getting a little caught up in her soap opera-esc day dream, man she needed to find a boyfriend, as she watched from the other side of the cafe, "just freaking kiss already." She had watched those two dance around each other for the last year and it annoyed her so freaking much to watch as they almost cluelessly acted so much like a couple when they were alone - it was like a real life American tv show of her constantly wonder if they would finally get together in the same will they or won't they tv drama formula. And she was super hooked on it.

She knew Yuri was a little, as the Japanese would say, tsundere so openly expressing emotions off the ice wasn't exactly a strong characteristic of his but she thought Katrina was a lot more in tune with her emotions, on and off the ice, and open with her feelings - maybe she was just holding back so she didn't frighten Yuri off by being too touchy. Yuri could throw as much shade or as many unflattering names at her as he wanted, acting as if he hated Katrinas touchy feely actions, knowing she'd just laugh and smile instead of being put off by his abrasiveness that drove a lot of people their age away from him but he also knew the lines not to cross - he never resorted to calling her Viktrina, like some skaters teased/bitched about her with. Yuri knew exactly how he could hurt her if he wanted to truly be mean to her but he ever crossed that line with her.

She sighed - teenagers.

Oh well she could get some blackmail material at least as she took covert pictures of the two, to anyone who didn't know that they weren't dating it sure looked like it from the picture. Two 15 year olds looking at each other from across the small coffee house table, seeming to be holding hands and looking into each others eyes with faint but honest smiles. It was very tempting to post such pictures, although Yuri's fan group known as 'Yuri's Angels' may end up being not be so happy - although there was a chance that on the flip side they could find it as adorable as she did. The Royal Couple of Russia - she laughed at the thought but then again what else would you call them? Hmmmm...Maybe the golden couple because of their medals....or she could do that thing of putting their names together like Yurina or Katri.

Maybe she could send it to Otabek though and see what he thought...

Katrina was friends with Chris too so maybe he'd have some good ideas too...

So many good options but the last person she'd send it to was -

"Oh hello Mila."

Viktor.

CRAP.

Mila grabbed the silver haired man, shoving him abruptly behind the sofa she was using as a cover to hide from the two teenagers. If Viktor saw he could end up going all protective big brother on her like Michele did to Sara and this was too good of a situation for it to get ruined by him - god dammit they were so close to admitting their feelings.

"Wait what is going on?" Viktor being very confused as to why he'd been dragged behind a sofa, he'd just been wanting to get a hot cup of coffee for himself, to be shushed by the red haired female.

This was definitely not going to end well.

"Are we playing some kind of game?" Viktor asked still very confused, "oh are we playing hide and seek? Do you know they play hide and seek in Japan differently to us? You see they-"

Muffling Viktor with her hand seemed justifiable to Mila - also Viktor had to be the worst at hide and seek if he talked the entire time. "Shhhhhhh," Mila checking round the sofa for a brief second to check if the teen skating prodigies had caught onto them. Luckily they seemed too preoccupied with something on Yuri's phone, 50% of the time it was some kind of social media or texting and the other 50% of the time had to be cat videos or something if she had to guess. So all she had to do was somehow sneak Viktor out without any of them seeing each other and make up some weird trend or game to satisfy Viktors curiosity, easy right?

"Viktor why are you hiding behind a sofa?"

Mila forgot about his Japanese fiancé who was probably attached to his hip for all she knew.

"Viktor?" Katrina whipping her head around at the sound of her brothers name, Yuri for a second definitely saw red in her eyes, her whole body posture changing in a second from an electrified hopefulness before relaxing into her previous cold and solemn state.

Mila and Yuri thinking the same thing, 'crap,' as Yuuri fought his flight instinct to run like hell from the situation.

"Katrina," Viktor seemed immune to the atmosphere in the room as he jumped to his feet, smiling and waving, "I've been looking all over for you."

Katrina didn't reply, she didn't look him in the eyes and she didn't smile. Inside she burning but her exterior was cold. She hastily grabbed Yuri's wrist, some how thinking that would make her feel stronger when all she felt was weakness in front of her brother, and walked past Viktor, ignoring him completely, dragging Yuri behind her and leaving the drinks on the table, completely forgotten about.

"Katrina?" Viktor looked like someone had shot Makkachin in front of him from the face he was making, he didn't know he had hurt her so bad for her to coldly brush him off like that. After seeing her practice he knew she hadn't broken down and quit like he feared, she gotten better and so he thought she was ok for them to make amends but clearly there was more hurt there than he had anticipated - emotions weren't his strong point ok. "Printsessa."

That made her stop.

Yuri could feel her grip tighten on his wrist, her body screaming like it did on the night he found her curled up in the dark.

It seemed like the whole coffee shop froze in reaction.

"You don't get to call me that," her words were just as cold as her glare, cutting the 27 year old champion down with that one sentence, before she continued to walk out of the shop with the equally stunned blonde haired boy in tow.

'Was that really the same girl that helped me this morning?' Yuuri watching her leave, not knowing what to do in the situation, he wasn't quite sure to react; Katrina as been so helpful and smiley just this morning, like a little ray of sunshine, and even through Yuri had told him about what happened between Katrina and Viktor, to see her completely switch to such a cold demeanour seemed out of character.

Mila was just awkwardly looking away, nervously rubbing her arm as if she was just as uncomfortable with the atmosphere created, this was so not what she had wanted to happen but she knew something like this was bound to happen at some point.

Viktor was just completely silent. Looking down at the floor in front of him.

"Viktor?" Yuuri edging closer, trying to see the look on his face since it was being covered by his silver hair, "Viktor?"

Yuri had only seen Viktor cry once. That was when he had tried to end things between them at the last world championship. When Viktor thought he had lost him. Until that moment, he didn't think he was capable of making Viktor cry. Wide smiles and grins of delight, puppy dogs eyes wanting his own way, the occasional lecturing when he flubbed a jump - but he never thought he could bring Viktor Nikiforov to tears. Despite the numerous times Yuuri had cried last year in front of him, Viktor had only cried once.

"Hey Yuuri," Viktor looking up slightly towards him, "am I a bad person?"

This was the second time Yuuri saw Viktor cry in front of him.
