《Remember Me... Please》Chapter 12

You hummed leaning back on the ship watching ratchet work.
"When's the new 'captain' coming?" You asked adjusting the setting on your visor
"He should be here soon, wrench." Came his reply as you kicked said tool under to him
"You think he's gonna be as annoying as the other bots?" You asked looking over at yellow and green mechs
"Well he was an academy bot, so let's home he has more a little more class. Welder." You kicked said tool
You turned your helm as the door opened to see Ultra Magnus and a young mech. You watched Magnus leave and raised your helm in greeting at the mech who looked skeptical. You hummed and walked up to the red and blue mech.
"Designation's (y/n)." You greeted, "Your the new captain?"
"I-I um. Yes, I am Optimus Prime." The mech spoke, "Isn't there supposed to be four of you?" He asked pointing a digit
You hummed and looked behind you spotting the green and yellow bots being idiots, "There is."
"Where's the forth bot then?" He asked
You chuckled and looked over your shoulder where ratchet was working, "RATCHET!" You snapped causing the mech to jerk and hit his helm on the place he was working
"WHAT (Y/N)!?" He yelled as he pulled himself out from under the ship
"CAPTAIN'S HERE!"
~
You grunted as you were ejected from Omega Supreme. Ratchet and Sari soon following. You landed on your aft.
"I will absorb all of the transwarp energy." You twisted your helm around hearing the massive bots voice
"No! I didn't bring you back just for you to sacrifice yourself!" Ratchet shouted
You stared as the massive bot began to fold in on himself. Your words lost you as you watched him disappear. You blinked a few times and looked over at Ratchet dermas parted slightly. He walked over to you and offered you a servo up.

"Come on. Let's get out of here." He spoke as the others began to get up as well
~
You sighed stroking the mechs helm on on chassis. Finally this solar cycle was over after finding out Sari was some sort of techno-organic and the lose of Omega Supreme and coming back online and getting your memories back all with in a short period of time it was nice to wind down like this. You smiled softly at the mechs warmth.
"Long solar cycle huh?" You spoke softly in a teasing tone
"The longest." He muttered pulling you closer, "Out of all the things to miss when you were pledged offline, I missed this the most."
You chuckled breathily, "Are you sure it's not the way I give blow jobs."
"Don't ruin the moment with your perverted comments." He spoke in a warning tone
You smiled tracing his helm, "When I was technically sparkless one of the things I felt I was missing was a feeling of warmth of home."
"Well did you find it?" Ratchet asked nuzzling closer
"Ratchet you are my home." You chuckled
"My spike says the same thing about you." Ratchet muttered softly causing you to snort
"What did you just say!?" You laughed happily, "Now you went and made a dirty joke too. Ha!"
He chuckled and placed his chin on your chassis to watch your face, "Hey, what can I say? You've rubbed off on me."
"Several times if I recall.~" you chuckled causing Ratchet to raise his brows
"I've missed you." He spoke sincerely
You trailed your servo down to cup his helm, "I've missed you too."
He nuzzled into your touch causing you to smile and stroke your thumb digit over his bottom derma, "As anyone told you your very handsome Ratchy?"

He chuckled, "I believe you have on more than one occasion my dear."
You smiled, "I only speak the truth Ratchy."
He chuckled and reached forward to detach your visor causing you to blink a few times to get used to the dark. You chuckled.
"Why?"
"I didn't want a thin piece of glass separating your optics from mine." Ratchet spoke
You rolled your optics, "Original play write right there."
"At least pretend to be complimented." Ratchet scoffed
You chuckled, "OOOHH! How I swoon of the loving words and poems my mate tells me!" You placed the back of your servo to your forehelm about to go on when a digit over your dermas said otherwise
"Ok over dramatic much?" Ratchet chuckled
You chuckled and took the digit in your intake suckling on it causing the mech laying on you to shiver. You pulled away with a smirk.
"You and your sensitive servos~"
"You stop that right now!"
"Or what? You'll spank me?" You asked with a cheeky grin
"Stop."
"You're too much fun Ratchet."

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
