Jordan's laugh filled the cafe. She never felt this happy for the past three years. She forgot how to smile, she forgot how to laugh and she forgot how to live. But Kate's presence brought back memories to her. Her silly college life, Kate's drunken state when they used to attend parties a lot in college and many more.
Gabby smiled behind the counter, she never imagined Jordan would laugh so freely like that but she was also sad because she wasn't the reason of it. She had no idea why, but deep down inside her, she wanted to make Jordan happy again.
Brandon saw sadness in Gabby's eyes when he glanced at her. He elbowed Gabby lightly, Allie was back to her own spot after Gabby told her to play alone, Gabby turned her head to see Brandon.
"Yeah?" Gabby asked.
"They're best friends." Brandon told her.
"I know." Gabby forced a smile.
Brandon snorted. "You're sure you're okay?"
Gabby nodded. Brandon studied her more. He wanted to ask a question but he didn't want to push Gabby if she didn't even know herself.
"I heard Kate's voice. Is she here?" Emma came into view.
Brandon pointed at where Jordan and Kate were. Emma gawked, she didn't realize that Jordan was laughing uncontrollably. It had been quite a while since they heard Jordan's laughter.
"What's up?" Cassie asked, she wrapped her arm around Emma's shoulder.
"Kate is here." Emma informed.
Cassie peeked over Gabby and Brandon, her eyes lit when she knew Jordan was smiling so pure. The four of them were happy that Jordan was smiling again, the three of them knew what happened while Gabby was still wondering what was the story behind. Maybe she would get the answer tonight since Jordan asked her to talk.
But when the coffee shop closed, Jordan wasn't home. Jordan and Kate went to the mall at four in the afternoon to catch up about the things they didn't talk for almost a month.
Jordan told Kate everything who Gabby and Allie were, how they ended up living with her and their situation. Kate's eyes watery when she knew deep inside Jordan's heart, she had moved on, but Jordan didn't realize it because she wasn't the one who always expressed her feelings.

Kate didn't comment anything. She believed Jordan had moved on because when Jordan told her about Gabby and Allie, Jordan's eyes lit like they were alive again, like when Jordan was in love with Olivia.
Surprisingly, they didn't talk about Olivia because Kate wanted to know more about Gabby and Allie so she intentionally dragged a conversation about them. Kate wanted Jordan to move on. It had been three years since her best friend was like a zombie, living a monotone life every day.
She knew Olivia was also her best friend but she didn't want Jordan buried her heart to someone who already died. Jordan's journey in life was still long and she didn't want Jordan took it for granted just because her fiancée was dead. She knew it was hard at first, but it had been three years so she asked Jordan to talk about her own future.
"Allie loves you." Kate said.
Jordan smiled. "I know, she told me one time."
"She respects you more than she respects her own mother though." Kate responded as a matter of fact. "And she is smart for a five years old kid, though. Damn, she even told me the process of photosynthesis!"
"I know, right?" Jordan laughed. "Her knowledge about the world is big, she doesn't like math, she likes science a bit, she likes to eat pancakes and ice cream a lot."
Kate gulped her beer. "You seem so close to her."
"Her mother is busy behind the counter, and I'm the one who have so many free time so I teach her." Jordan replied. "Every night she sleeps with her mother, but in the morning I always end up with her snuggling with me."
"For real?" Kate asked.
Jordan nodded. "Every single day."
"Wow, she really loves you so much for sure." Kate said.
"Yeah." Jordan replied.
"And how about her mother?" Kate asked playfully.
Jordan rolled her eyes. She just smiled but then she remembered something. "Shit."
"What?" Kate furrowed her brows.
"I told Gabby this morning to talk about something." Jordan looked at the time, it was already 10pm. "I need to go home. I promised her to talk after the shop is closed though and I totally forgot."

"Well shit, I'm sorry." Kate said sincerely. "You must be occupied with me today."
"It's okay, you're barely here, Kate." Jordan said.
"You're sure? Do you want to go home?" Kate asked.
"Is it okay?"
Kate smiled. "Of course, babe. We can catch up tomorrow or whenever. I'll come to the bar."
Jordan nodded. "Where are you staying?"
"Le Grande Hotel, it's only fifteen minutes from here." Kate replied.
"Need a ride?" Jordan offered.
"Nah, you need to drive back home immediately, maybe she is already asleep and you don't want to postpone your talk, right?" Jordan nodded. "Then go. I'll take an Uber."
Jordan smiled for her best friend's understanding. She kissed Kate on the cheek and waved her a goodbye before telling her that she would text her about the conversation she was about to talk to Gabby.
Jordan drove home in a slight of panic. She forgot that she needed to talk to Gabby about their previous encountered and she needed to clear the things up between them. She didn't want to live in awkwardness with Gabby, the younger woman made a lot of changes in her life for good and Jordan was glad she met her.
She parked her car, made her way up to her house and made sure that she locked the door. She opened the door, the light was off which meant Gabby was already asleep. Jordan sighed, she should've known better, but she couldn't help it. Reminisced the old times with her best friend she didn't see for three months was her favorite thing.
She walked inside, the TV in the living room was on, Jordan felt there was a hope that Gabby was still awake. She grabbed a beer from the kitchen then she walked to the living room.
But she found Gabby was sleeping peacefully on the couch. So, she was waiting for me. Jordan thought. She felt bad, she never had the intention to make Gabby waited for her this long. Gabby must be exhausted, today was hectic at the coffee shop. Jordan sighed, she sat on the edge of her large couch.
She studied Gabby's feature and she found some familiar feelings like a couple years ago when she felt something towards someone, something inside her sparked. She shook her head to forget what those feelings were, she didn't want to make any guesses which would lead her to something she was afraid to say.
Gabby stirred her body, she curled like a ball. She didn't bring a blanket which meant she really fell asleep when she was waiting for Jordan. Jordan put her beer on the coffee table, she took a blanket and wrapped it around Gabby's body. She didn't want to wake Gabby up because maybe she was too tired and if she woke her up, she would feel tired more.
"Jordan?" Allie's voice brought Jordan to life because she zoned out when she looked at Gabby's face intensely.
"Yeah?" Jordan's voice was husky.
Allie rubbed her tired eyes. "Mommy isn't in room. Where is she?"
"She is here, princess." Jordan smiled.
Allie made her way to the living room while hugging her teddy bear. "I want to sleep with you and mommy."
Jordan was taken back. She didn't expect that at all. Her heart pounded, she didn't know why but she couldn't say a single word. At all.
Allie jumped to her lap, wrapped her small arms around Jordan's neck and let her teddy bear fell onto the coffee table. Jordan stroked Allie's back slowly and humming a lullaby.
They ended up sleeping together in the living room. Gabby's head was on Jordan's lap, Allie's body wrapped perfectly on Jordan's body and Jordan slept in sitting position, her left hand held Allie's body and her right hand laid on Gabby's body freely.
And what had Allie been requested was done. She slept together with Jordan and her mother even though in a weird position.
And yeah, they definitely would wake up with a massive aches all over their bodies.
