Hermione, as excited as she was to be part of a magic world, was also sad because she never really had friends. She arrived at the platform 9 3/4 crossing the barrier that was explained to her in the letter sent to muggle borns. She quickly said her goodbyes to her parents before crossing after that she took a deep breath and ran right in. "Excuse me, have you seen my toad?" A small boy asked. "No sorry but I can ask others is they have. Im Hermione Granger, what's your name?" The boy looked at her with hope in his eyes, "Neville." He responded quickly and left asking other people. Hermione ran to the train scared that it was going to leave her even though not everyone was not on. She sat in an empty compartment quickly changing into her robes and put her stuff up, "excuse me Hermione." The small boy was standing behind her, "can I sit with you?" She nodded her head, "sure but let's go asking if people have seen your toad." Neville told her that he would stay behind so no one took their place and because he was tired. She gladly agreed.

Hermione walked around the train asking people. "Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one." She asked two kids in a compartment. One had raven color hair with glasses wearing clothes a bit too big for him and the other one had red hair and freckles. They seemed to be doing magic, "we've already told him we haven't seen it." The red haired boy answered but she didn't pay much attention and asked if they were doing magic. The boy said the spell which didn't work and she commented on that. They introduced each other and she speaks too much about how Harry is in a lot o books. She decided to get up and continued on her search telling them to change to their robes.

A few compartments later she over heard a boy talking about his parents riches and blood status. "Has anyone seen a toad?" She asked again. A boy with platinum hair turned to her, "no I haven't." "What's your blood status?" A girl asked in his compartment. "Pardon?" Hermione kindly asked. "She's a mudblood." A boy who looked extremely rude and think spatted. "Mud what?" Hermione was still confused. "Means that you're never going to be a real wizard. You're just a stupid muggle born. And muggles are really stupid." The other thick boy said. "Oh really? I'll have you know that a lot of technologic advancements are thanks by the so called stupid muggles. I advice you to know your stuff before you open your mouth." Hermione responded while turning around and exiting angrily. Little did she know that the pale boy with platinum hair was intrigued by how she was.

"I'm sorry Neville but no one's seen your toad." Hermione tells Neville. He frowns but tells her it's ok. They soon arrive at Hogwarts and Hermione goes around telling people interesting facts about Hogwarts. Soon enough she noticed that no one was paying attention to her so she walked slowly behind everyone. Not even Neville was interested. She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around to face the platinum haired boy. "Hi I'm Draco." He greeted kindly making Hermione smile that someone was finally talking to her. "I'm Hermione, wait weren't you with those mean boys?" He looked down, "yes, I'm sorry about them. They're gits and purebloods. So am I but I like to believe I'm different. Now what was it about Hogwarts you were saying." Hermione smiled and explained everything there was to know about Hogwarts to Draco while he listened attentively. Soon they went they're separate ways since they were sorted into different houses.

The next day she found out that they were having double potions with the Slytherins. She was really looking forward for it because that meant she could talk to Draco. On her way to the Great Hall to get some breakfast she bumped into him, "hey watch where you are- oh hi Hermione." He looked up at her. "Hi Draco." They walked in silence for a moment, "listen Hermione, I want to be your friend but it has to stay a secret because if my father hears about this he'll be furious. But every time we have class together let's sit next to each other by 'accident'. I hope you're okay with that." Hermione took everything in and nodded, "of course, plus our houses hate each other so that's not good. But I'm glad we're friends now."

And since that day they became friends even after Harry and Ron became hers, their friendship stayed secret.
