《Long Story Short, The Condom Broke ✔️》It's Go Time ✔️

There are times when I think Everly is crazy. Then there are times when I consider the fact that she is crazy. Then there are the times, like now, when I know for sure that she is crazy.
Giving Chicka up for adoption? Not happening.
" Come again?" I struggle to find the right words to say to Everly.
" It's the only thing I can do to reassure her safety Liam. I have to give her up for adoption." Everly argues.
She's gone mad.
" Are you crazy?!" I think my patience has just run out.
" I'm not crazy! Don't ever call a pregnant woman crazy!" I think her patience have also run out.
" You definitely are crazy if you even consider adoption as an option Everly!" I yell back in response.
She pauses for a while. Her eyebrows are raised high. She's pissed. Dear Lord.
" Excuse me, but who's baby is this?" oh no, she did not just pull that card out.
My hands rest on my hips out of frustration. Everly is way too hot headed to have an argument but I'm not going to give up this argument. This is Chicka's life we are talking about.
" You can't put her up for adoption. Do you even know what happens to kids when they find out that they are adopted? She will hate you forever. She'll always live with the thought that she wasn't good enough. She'll never forgive you Everly. Why can't you understand how fucked up this is?" she just can't give her up for adoption. I won't accept it.
" Liam this is not your baby! You are not the father of the child growing inside of me. You don't own her. You don't have the right to make my decisions regarding my child for me! You are not her father!" she yells.

Her words fired back in my face. My heart is aching from the impact of her words. She's right, I know it. I'm not her baby's father. I don't have a say in it. I can't make her decions for her. I know I can't argue further on with Everly. She's over emotional and tired.
" You are not putting her up for adoption. That's final." I say and storm out of the room.
How can she be this stupid? How am I supposed to make sure Chicka is safe when she isn't even under my roof? How can I reassure her safety when I can't even watch over her myself? I can't let body guards follow around a baby.
Why do you care? My subconscious argues with me.
I don't know why I care. I don't know why I do everything in my power to keep Everly safe. I don't know why I've grown so attached to her and I sure as hell don't know how I'm going to be able to survive her leaving.
She's not your girlfriend.
That has never mattered to me. I still care for that hot headed girl no matter how insane she drives me.
As I walk back to my room I bump into Chase.
" Hey man. What's up?" Chase looks as if he's in a good mood.
Not possible. Chase is never in a good mood.
" Not now Chase." I'm on my way to walk past him but his hand grabs my arm and tugs me back slightly. This time he has his serious face back on.
" We need to talk. " he pulls me by the arm into my office.
I'm pretty sure I could've walked to my office without his help.
When I enter my office Stella and Ryan are both waiting for my arrival. What is going on with the universe today? First Everly freaks out on me and then my inner-circle decides to arrange a meeting without my consent.

" What's this about?" I ask confused.
Stella brings her laptop forward. Lucas's face appears on the screen. Lucas also has a serious look on his face. Something has happened. I just know it.
" Hey buddy." Lucas starts nervously.
" Cut the bullshit Lucas. What happened? " I snap. I hate it when people walk on eggshells around me. Just hit me with the truth and get it over with.
Lucas glares at my outburst. Yeah whatever.
" The Snakes have attacked again. They blew up your mother's house earlier this morning. Don't worry, she's fine but her dog isn't. " Lucas informs me.
Poor Rascal.
That bastard really had the nerve to attack my mother? What kind of psychopath is he?
" The last shipment from Russia also came in today. I think it's time we put this thing to a stop once and for all. " Lucas continues.
I've been waiting patiently for all my shipments to arrive these past couple of months. I knew there was going to be a war. A war that will be the cause of my uncle's death. A war that will bring justice for my father's murder. I know it sounds ridiculous. A war in the 21st century? Not just any war. A war between two of the most powerful gangs in the United States.
I have weapons from all over the world, specially made to match my gang's fighting techniques. Men who have come together with an absolute hate towards my uncle. Gangs who have collided with my gang just for the sake of their protection.
But it's dangerous. I know I'm risking a lot of people's lives with this upcoming war. But I have trained them, just like my father trained me growing up. Hopefully these past couple of months training has a positive outcome. It just has to. I need justice for my fathers death, even if it means that I have to go down.
We just have one more thing to do before this whole war can start. One last meeting with the whole gang. One last inspirational speach, that I yet have to work on, that can save thousands of lives. One last glance at my achievement. One last breath before the chaos erupts. That means that I have to go back to New York to arrange the meeting. I'm not going to take Everly with me. It's too dangerous for her to be around. I'll have to leave without her knowing because she's going to want to come along. I'll leave Stella with her just for a little more protection and updates. She's going to hate me so much for this.
I look at my inner-circle. They've come so far these last couple of months. Even though I've lost most of my family they always stood by my side and helped me through this dark phase. Stella isn't the type of loving sister but she's loveable in her own way. That's why she's gotta stay behind. I can't afford to lose more family than I already have.
" It's go time." I announce.
Stella, Ryan, Chase and even Lucas all share the same facial expression.
My bastard of an uncle has no idea what's waiting for him.

NOVA INTERIT.US
It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. I will be narrating a podcast version later this year there. https://novainteritus.substack.com/

The Other - a (man) called Ted
A figure, large and present through time in ways most would not understand. Seemingly uncaring about all except his own principles, the one we refer to as the Other (for legitimate reasons, lest some accidentally call upon his old name), finds his way through life. Though refusing to claim the title himself, this (immortal)'s projects have begun to leave him behind, awaiting some accident to move him back into the world. - - - - - - Initially intended to be a novella, then a project to keep me sane in busy times IRL, this will be considered the roughest of drafts. Also, IRL may prevent me from regular updates after the backlog is done. Tags with a grain of salt, items may be mentioned briefly in story so far, or in chapters already written but not published. Content warnings just in case. Some perspective switching in the first several chapters. Legitimately though, in the first chapters an explanation is provided for referencing to the MC as 'the Other.'
