Have you ever looked at someone and just couldn't keep your eyes off them? They just grasped your attention in the most amusing ways possible?

That was Thea or at least at the moment that was Thea. Instead of pissing me off she was very interested in a photo of a former president.

"This is the most attractive president we have had Damien. I mean- look at him. Rutherford B. Hayes, more like Rutherford B. Hey how you doin'," she called, dragging on the hey for a while before she finished the sentence. I sat in her chair with a small chuckle, shaking my head at her stupidity.

"I mean look at him Damien," she called, getting up from her bed so she could show me an old photo on her phone.

Her birthday was in two days and everyone was out getting her a present while I made sure she stayed at her house.

"Ya great," I quietly mumbled watching her big eyes send me a glare. Her glares weren't as scary as she thought they were, it just looked like she was having a hard time blinking or she couldn't see that far away.

I will admit, Thea was growing on me. She still found a way to piss me off at some point every day which was an amazing skill.

Neither one of us brought up the ice cream trip that happened last week. I was happy she didn't because I don't know why I said it. Someone like me isn't supposed to like anyone, not even as a friend. But here I sat trying to move the bright iPhone screen from my face as Thea brought it closer to me.

My parents were starting to wonder where I spent my waste of a life at. They never noticed I was gone before and I don't understand why it's a problem now.

"Are you alright?" I heard her gentle voice question, finally bringing the phone away from my face.

No

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I gave her a cocky smirk that only made her roll her eyes.

"Fine don't tell me," she said quietly, tossing her phone onto the bed. Thea swung her feet off the edge of her bed, sitting in front of me. Her bright eyes watching me before I caught her, then they adverted quickly to her feet. I noticed she tended to stare a lot, her eyes would just lock on one thing and you could see the thinking that was going on in her head.

"You wanna know a secret?" She said quietly making me raise an eyebrow, intrigued. I knew I had tons of secrets but Thea was like an open book if you flipped to the right pages.

"You're the first guy to talk to me like a person, ever- well besides my brother." I leaned on my knees as I watched her bite her lip.

God, she kills me sometimes.

"Thea that's not possible," I told her, looking annoyed. She shrugged her shoulders and kicked her feet some more.

"I have never had a conversation with a boy until you." She stated again, making me shake my head in amazement. A small laugh came out of her as she stared at her toes. "I mean I got a hey loser a lot but that's not a conversation," she was actually giggling at her shitty joke.

"You look insane right now," I said with a small smile that I was desperately trying to hide. After that time she asked me about my family I was terrified to be around her. I didn't want her to know anything about me, I wanted her to hate me quite frankly. I wanted her to never look at me the way she does like I was fragile and I think that's why I fight with her so much. It's like she sees right through me and I hate it. I wanted to hate her with every fiber of my being but when I tried I couldn't bring myself to fully do it.

My friends don't even know about my family because they never come over. I'm always at their houses or here. My family was a mess of problems that I didn't want to burden anyone with.

"Well Looking insane and being insane are two very different things," she smiled, leaning back onto her bed with a thump.

Something about her was calming, she just had this way of giving you a chance to breathe sometimes. I've never met someone who had that ability and could still piss me off at the same time.

She's like a fucking Rubik's cube.

I fixed my hair with my hand for a moment before going to sit beside her. She had a strand of hair twisted between her fingers as she stared at the ceiling. "Now you're acting insane, is that better?" I chuckled, leaning against the head board as she turned around on her stomach to face me. I heard her gasp, her hand colliding with my bicep. It felt like a tap, just like someone trying to get your attention, but I would never tell her that.

"I was just thinking butt! I'm tired!" Thea laughed, her head going to the pillow. Her hair sprawled across her back as she faced away from me.

It was somewhat late, around nine o'clock. I had came over after school to find her singing a Britney Spears song while eating strawberries and who would want to leave after that?

Without thinking I had brought a hand up to her hair, just running my fingers through it gently. She had made it clear we were only friends, plus I had a reputation to uphold and she was making me weak.

"Ya know, I would love to go get ice cream again but after that painful bush accident I don't want too." She mumbled out making me chuckle at the memory. It was a pretty great thing to see, her literally bouncing off me and into a bush. When we got back to her house I had to help her get all the leaves and twigs out so she could lay down without being stabbed by something.

"I think we should do it again, for experimental purposes," I said quietly watching her laugh and shake her head on the pillow.

She slowly turned over to me, her big gray eyes scanning my face before they checked my chin. "Thea it's gone, I promise," I grumbled out, knowing she was looking for the bruise that shit face gave me. I was annoyed about her worrying, it was something my mother never did and Thea does it enough for the both of them.

My body sunk down into the bed until I was eye level with her. She had a hard time looking me in the eyes, I noticed it since the first day I met her. I mean she would look at me, but not for too long or she won't look at me again that night.

Xavier was very persistent on getting us to make up. Persistent enough that he told me we were going to a club but I ended up at her house instead. I wasn't that mad but I doubt Thea would let me throw one dollar bills around her house, so I was disappointed.

"Hello? Damien?" She called, waving her tiny hand in front of my face to snap me out of my thoughts. Thea gave me a thin frown, her full bottom lip pouting out as I finally looked at her.

"Yes, little flower?" Her eyes questionably watched me, knowing something was wrong.

"I was talking...Are you sure you're alright?" She said quietly, her hand going to move my dark hair back into its spot. I gave her a glare causing her to quickly retract her hand and looked away from me.

Here she goes again.

"I'm fine Thea, please. Just go get dressed." I said slightly annoyed, watching her jump up confused before looking at her clothes.

"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" She questioned, her eyes going back to me as her hands went to her hips.

I scanned her body before looking back up at her with a 'you're joking right' look before I answered.

"Considering you have on a shirt that says Damn it's cold in here outlining your boobs. Then, like that isn't bad enough, They even gave you dots where your tits should be," I mumbled, looking at her gasp.

"I'll have you know these are my favorite ones and they are funny." Her body slowly went to the closet with a giggle as she picked out actual clothes.

She grabbed a pair of shorts and just a regular loose fitting t-shirt before she glared at me. "You're supposed to look away now Or go out of the room!" She hissed making me look at her with a smirk. She got embarrassed really easily and it was cute watching her cheeks heat up. Not to mention she would get a bad stutter for a good five minutes afterward.

"Why?" I questioned, watching her eyes widen at me. I could tell she was shocked because she bit her lip. Her mouth opened and shut for a moment before I finally gave in, putting my face into her pillows.

I could hear rustling for a moment before she let out a happy sigh, "okay, you can look now." Her hands went to her hair, pulling it out from underneath her maroon shirt.

"Where are we even going?" She questioned me, trying to keep up as I exited her room. I couldn't stand being locked up in a room with her for longer than an hour. She asked too many questions that I didn't want to answer.

"Just going to drive around," I grumbled out, watching her look to the ground again as I led her downstairs.

"Have you talked to your mom yet?" I whispered, checking to see if her mother was downstairs. When she wasn't I walked to the front door, pulling it open for the small girl who trailed behind me.

Thea shook her head, her long hair moving in sync with her as she skipped. "No, she hasn't talked to me for a few days now..." I could tell she was upset but her mask of a smile was almost perfect.

Almost.

She never failed to amaze me at her way of emotions. She had so many, while I had mostly none.

"Why do you act like that?" I questioned her as we got into the car, her eyes glancing at me for a moment before going back to the window.

"Like what?" Her voice was kind of sharp toward me like she already knew the answer.

"Like you're always happy?" I questioned again, making her head whip over to stare at me as I drove. Thea was almost like a ticking time bomb and I just wanted to know when she would blow.

"Um, why not?" Her voice was different now like she was annoyed at the conversation but I didn't care. I didn't understand her, she was different. Her eyes watched me through the window as I drove, occasionally glancing her way.

"Because you don't seem happy,"

"It's not that Damien," She whispered, her eyes watching the road we turned onto.

"Then what is it Thea because you can't just keep putting a fake smile on an-"

"You don't know what you are talking about so just drop it or drop me off. You're the one who's been acting off all night," her voice was venomous making me shut my jaw in annoyance.

We were quiet for a long time until I decided to lighten the mood. It felt weird when we didn't talk, I couldn't put my finger on the feeling.

"So," I dragged out, watching her now darkened eyes look at me.

"Is that a birthmark on your left butt cheek or a mole?"

"Y-you looked?"
