《Kindred Spirits》Chapter 8

Chicago has been on Zola's bucket list, since they started this whole trip. And now she is here.
"Come on elskan" Elijah helps her out of the car and she looks around to see them in a warehouse.
"Welcome to Chicago love" Klaus says, opening the door of the warehouse so she can see the city from afar.
"What are we doing here Klaus?" Stefan questions, confused.
"I know how much you loved it here. Bringing back memories of the good old ripper days?" Klaus is having too much fun with Stefan at this point.
Zola, who was still staring at the city, turns around to listen into the conversation but she begins to get a headache. "Ughh" She holds her head, trying to stop the growing pain.
"Love, are you okay?"
Zola whimpers out and begins to fall, feeling faint, but Klaus catches her and Elijah isn't far behind.
Suddenly Zola sees Stefan feeding from someone's neck. She tries to snap out of it but the more she tries to stop whatever is happening, the more it hurts. She remembers this feeling. The same feeling happened that night at the masquerade ball.
Stefan then snaps his head up and looks in her direction, so now she sees blood covering all over his mouth and then the head of the person he was feeding on, falls onto the floor, scaring her.
She screams and screams, like someone is killing her, until eventually she blacks out. Klaus, who has her back against his chest and Elijah, who is holding her hand, tries to shake her out of it.
"Zola, come on. Please, come back to us"
Zola comes back from her black out, groaning.
"Ouch" She whimpers and immediately both her mates bite into their wrist, wanting to heal her. Seeing this, she holds their wrist to stop them.
"I'm fine, it's just a headache"
"Elskan, what happened?"
"I saw you" Zola points at Stefan and he raises his eyebrow, signaling her to continue.
"Well, I saw Ripper you. You were feeding on someone and then their... umm their head fell off"
"How did you see that? You obviously weren't there, matter fact you weren't born anywhere near that time"
"I don't know, it was like I wasn't living it just seeing it"
"Hmmm, well it's a good thing we are here then" Klaus exclaims, helping Zola up and letting Elijah check her over for any wounds.
"Why am I still with you? We had our fun, your hybrids failed. I mean, don't you want to move on?" Stefan asks Klaus
"We're going to see my favorite witch. If anyone can help us with our hybrid problem and Zola's little episode there, it's her."
After having gone to the hotel room Klaus compelled them, well mainly Zola. They went to Gloria's bar for some help.
Today was Klaus's turn to give Zola's an outfit, and she didn't mind it at all.
Zola's head still throbbed a little but she didn't want any of her mate's blood and instead took some ibuprofen.
Getting to Gloria's bar, she can see the shock in Stefan's face when he sees it.
"Looks familiar, doesn't it?" Klaus calls out to Stefan.
"I can't believe this place is still here."
"You gotta be kidding me." Gloria exclaims
Zola looks to see a middle-aged woman, looking at Klaus, Stefan and Elijah.
"So a hybrid walks into a bar, says to the bartender" Klaus tries to joke but Gloria stops him. Even Zola doesn't think he was funny but if she said that, he would become a whimpering little dog.

"Stop. You may be invincible, but that doesn't make you funny." Gloria stated
"I second that" Zola tries muttering low but everyone still hears her, even Gloria
"Is that..." Gloria trails off to which Klaus and Elijah nod at her. "Wow after all these years, and you finally found her. And must I say, you are very beautiful"
"Thank you" Zola blushes awkwardly, not liking compliments from anyone but her mates.
Gloria turns to Stefan "And you. I remember you"
"Yeah. You're Gloria. Shouldn't you be..." Stefan says, trailing off
"Old and dead? Now if I die, who's going to run this place, huh?"
"Gloria's a very powerful witch." Klaus states
"I can slow the aging down some. Herbs and spells. But don't worry, it'll catch up to me one day." Gloria says, nonchalant.
"Stefan, why don't you go and fix us up a little something from behind the bar?" Klaus demands to Stefan. He nods and walks over to the bar.
"Love" Zola looks to Klaus to see him pulling out a chair for her, and she sits in it with Elijah and Klaus sitting on either side of her.
"You look ravishing, by... Ouch love." Klaus attempted to say but Zola stomped on his foot, obviously disagreeing with his ways of trying to get things. "Sorry darling"
"I know why you're here."Gloria states "A hybrid out to make more hybrids? That kind of news travels."
"So what did he do wrong? He broke the curse" Elijah states
"Obviously you did something wrong. Look, every spell has a loophole, but a curse that old...We'd have to contact the witch who created it" Gloria tells them
"Well, that would be the original witch. She's very dead."
Zola knows that they are talking about their mother.
"I know. And for me to contact her, I'll need help. Bring me Rebekah." Gloria states pointedly.
"Rebekah is a bit preoccupied right now"
"She has what I need. Bring her to me."
"What is this?" Stefan exclaims, holding up a picture.
"Well, I told you, Stefan. Chicago's a magical place." Klaus says, being vague
"What is it?" Zola asks
"It's a picture of me and Klaus in the 20s" Stefan states.
They get back to the warehouse to wake up Rebekah.
"This doesn't make any sense. Why don't I remember you?" Stefan exclaims
"You said it yourself, that time had a lot of dark holes." Klaus says
"No, if you knew me, then why haven't you said anything?"
"I'm a little busy right now. Memory Lane will have to wait."
"What the hell is going on? Answer me." Stefan snaps, grabbing ahold of Klaus's arm. Klaus snaps his head up to Stefan and grips his hand.
"Let's just say we didn't get off to a brilliant start. To be honest, I hated you."
"Nikki, please even I'm confused, and it's giving me a headache" Zola mutters out, groaning a little because her head is starting to hurt again. Elijah grabs her hand, pulling her into his chest.
"Is it hurting again Astin?"
Zola nods her head a little, not wanting to increase the pain even more.
"Just drink my blood, it will heal it for you"
Zola sighs and nods her head. Elijah bites into his wrist and goes to pull it in her mouth but she suddenly tenses and grips Elijah's arm.
Again, all Zola can see is clips and, once again, it wasn't her memory she was seeing.
She sees Klaus and Stefan sitting at a booth back at Gloria's bar with a beautiful woman.

She sees little snippets of them talking, killing and having fun.
Finally, it stops. She comes back to reality and sees Klaus and Elijah in front of her, just like before, but this time she is standing.
"Are you okay, love? What did you see this time?"
"I saw you and Stefan with this gorgeous woman. Who was she?"
"Ahh, you must've seen Rebekah, our sister" Klaus states, caressing her cheek.
"But I didn't see you Lijah, where were you?"
"I was in search of you elskan. We didn't know when you would be born so we took turns searching the world for you. At time, me and Klaus would switch off but when I had came back, he had already daggered our sister"
"And you were okay with him doing that?" Stefan asks
"No but with the matter at that time we were dealing with, and we also didn't know how it would affected our mate, I left it be but still tried any chances I got, to help my siblings"
"So you aren't any better than Klaus himself huh?" Stefan grits out
Elijah tenses up, not liking the comparison, Klaus sees that and turns to Stefan "Be careful Stefan, one might think you are trying to sign your own death sentences. But anyways, let's get going. I undaggered Rebekah and now we need to go somewhere first before we go back to the bar"
Klaus grabs Zola's hand and helps her walk outside, letting Elijah compel the guard to tell Rebekah to come to Gloria's before letting her feed from him.
----------------------------
While Stefan and Klaus went to Stefan's old apartment, Elijah took Zola back to Gloria's to see if they can get any answers on her weird memory thing, that keeps happening ever since they got to Chicago.
"All I need you to do is give me your hand and I can try reading you to see if I can sense anything, okay?" Gloria explains to her, after agreeing to help her.
Zola nods warily, giving Gloria her hand. Gloria goes quiet for a bit, having closed her eyes.
And then she gasps "I figured out why this is happening to you. Do you know anyone in your family that was a psychic by any chance?"
Zola laughs "A psychic? That's what you think I am"
"Not think, know. A psychic can see into the past, and future. They get a sense of bad and good. That is what you are sweetheart. Those pains are from you trying to resist it, you gotta let it in or it will keep hurting you. Among other things as well"
Gloria gets up, nodding at Elijah, and Klaus, who Zola didn't even realize came back.
"Well our little mate is a psychic. Wonderful." Klaus says, smiling softly at Zola knowing she is still processing things.
"Elskan, was your family into those types of things? Being psychic?"
Zola shrugs "I only ever met my mom's mother once when I was like 2, but she never visited again because my dad didn't want her to. So maybe, but the only way to know is if I asked my mother"
Klaus sighs "Well let's try not to worry about it love. Now let's order you some food, you must be hungry" Right after he said that, Zola's stomach grumbles, making its presence known.
Elijah and Klaus laugh while she blushes.
While she was eating her food, she notices Stefan leave and not even a couple of minutes after, Damon takes his spot.
"I see they've opened the doors to the riff-raff now." Klaus mutters annoyed
"Oh, honey, I've been called worse." Damon says jokingly, winking at Zola, who just shakes her head.
Klaus puts his glass down "You don't give up, do you?"
"Give me my brother and little Saltzman back, and you'll never have to see me again."
Klaus grew tense with his offer as does Elijah "Well, I am torn. You see, I promised Stefan I wouldn't let you die, but how many freebies did I really sign up for? And clearly you want to die, otherwise you wouldn't be here"
"What can I say? I'm a thrill-seeker." Damon jokingly says but Klaus doesn't like it so he switches to violent ways. Klaus reaches out and grabs his throat, ripping him from his seat.
"Nik!" Zola yells out, going to get up from her seat to try and stop him but Elijah catches her, pulling her back into her seat.
"Niklaus must you do this in front of Zola" Elijah questions
"Sorry dear, but this will only take a minute or some. Because I'm boozey, you'll forgive me if I miss your heart the first few tries." Klaus stabs Damon with an umbrella toothpick. "Ohh! No, that's not it. Hmm. Wait Almost"
Damon grunts out in pain "You want a partner in crime? Forget Stefan. I'm so much more fun."
Klaus throws him, sick of the games. Damon crashes on top of a table, breaking it, and lands on the ground on his back. Klaus walks over, rips a part of the chair off as a makeshift stake, and crouches over Damon. "You won't have any fun after you're dead."
"Klaus!" Zola yells, at the same time Gloria lifts her hand towards the stake in his hand, setting it on fire. Klaus throws it away with a grunt. "Really?"
"Not in my bar. You take it outside." Gloria demands
Damon tries to sit up but Klaus pushes him back down and looks at him.
"You don't have to negotiate your brother's freedom. When I'm done with him, he won't want to go back. And for Zola, you tell her father that she will be back when she wants to go back"
"Klaus, let him go," Zola says, upset. Klaus takes his hand off of Damon, letting him get up.
Damon goes to leave but turns around "He misses you kid. Call him soon will you"
Zola nods and then he leaves. She turns around to Klaus and glares at him a little.
"What?" Klaus asks, not liking the glare he is receiving.
"You don't have to be so violent when things don't go your way"
Klaus sighs and pulls in her "I'm sorry love, please forgive me" He does puppy eyes to her and Zola laughs.
"You look stupid, now let's go. Maybe Rebekah is up"
She grabs Elijah and Klaus's hand and starts to pull them towards the door.
They meet up with Stefan at the warehouse, Klaus tells him to stay by the door until further notice, but when they go in, the guard is dead on the floor and Rebekah is missing.
"Rebekah, It's your big brothers. Come out, come out, wherever you are." Klaus whispered into the air, trying to get her to come out. Which she does.
Rebekah rushes over and stabs him in the chest with the dagger. Zola gasps, feeling a slight pinch in her chest as well.
"Go to hell, Nik!"
Klaus takes the dagger out of his chest, holds it out beside him, and drops it.
"Don't pout. You knew it wouldn't kill me."
"Yeah, but I was hoping it would hurt more." Rebekah says, turning around to see Elijah and Zola
"Lijah" She says shocked, rushes over and hugs him.
She then turns to Zola "I'm guessing this is food. Good I'm still starving"
Rebekah goes to jump at her but Elijah catches her arm "Sister, she is most definitely not food so please control yourself"
"Who is she then?"
"She is the one Rebekah. This is Zola"
"Hi" Zola shyly waves
"She is so adorable Nik, Lijah. I can't wait to get to know you" Rebekah goes to her, hugging her. Zola, confused, hugs her back. How can someone change that quickly with such a small piece of information?
"Yes, yes, you can do that later. I brought you a little peace offering. You can come in" Klaus calls out and Stefan walks in.
Rebekah turns around to see Stefan
"Stefan"
Klaus moves over to him and lets him remember everything. Stefan now remembers everything.
"Rebekah." Stefan whispers out, shocked.
He goes to walk over to her but then Klaus calls out to him. He turns around to face Klaus.
"I remember you. We were friends." Stefan says, recognizing him,
"We are friends. But now the reason you're here" Klaus moves over to Rebekah "Gloria tells me you know how to contact the original witch."
"The original witch?"
"What do you have that Gloria needs?" Klaus asks
Rebekah touches her neck but nothing is there.
"Where's my necklace? What did you do with it? I will never take it off!"
"I don't know. I didn't touch it. Tell me that's not what she needs, Rebekah!" Klaus yells, grabbing her arms.
Rebekah gets out of the hold and moves to the coffin. She searches it but doesn't find it so she throws it on the ground, upset.

QQQQ
Have you ever noticed that the letter Q is unnecessary? It doesn't provide any function to the language. Any word spelled with it could just as easily be spelled with other letters. Does that mean it shouldn't exist? Of course not. In this universe, everything has a place. Cosmic balance, Karma, God's plan, the laws of physics—they're all trying to describe the same thing. There is nothing that exists without purpose, and nothing without purpose that can exist. You can take solace in knowing that, just like the useless letter Q, you have birthright to exist in this world. Nothing can take that from you. Unless a creator God breeds technicolor angel-beasts hellbent on ripping you out of reality, of course. When Mina learns that she was a cosmic accident—a being accidentally created without purpose—what was once an easygoing life starts to entwine with conspiracies, impossible occurrences, and deadly occult mysteries. Not to mention friends so dangerous and unpredictable they make the cosmic horrors look normal by comparison. When the questions never stop piling up, it's hard to know where to begin.
