《A Musician To Be Reckoned With》| Chapter 8 | Math AP

Lunch was amazing, and in honesty it was because the boys were interesting. They were so unique in their own ways. I also learned new things about them within that 45 minutes mark.

Brix loves the violin and wants to go around the world performing as much as he can. His family is based on actors and actresses but his mother was a pianist. Easily, I got along with him based on the violin music we both love.

Estton was a ball of disordinary, but in a good way. He had a lot of sass but also cheerfulness. It seems like he didn't exactly want to come to this school as he was forced by his parents to attend here. Even so, he has amazing ears as he can easily distinguish the sounds into categories. Hard to explain, but once you get the general gist of how he can even hear that single mistake in the music that professionals play, you'll understand.

Joseph had the hints of being the same still. Quiet, not very talkative, except with me. Back in our childhood, I remember he did the same to me as he only hanged out with a small group of guys. They used to taunt me about how a girl can't be in those competitions, but after getting first place without a sweat. I won. Peace sign. So, in conclusion, they apologized and became friends with me. And let's just say, us hanging out together caused me to find a lot of interesting traits.

Crow was still the same as usual. Always getting close up to me to see if it would annoy anyone else, like it does to Kafe. Though, I can guess he misses our middle school memories since we were all always having fun nearly every single day. We were also in the same class for one year. He always had a smile when he talks about the fun events we did back then, and I had to agree to him on a few of them.

"Do you remember when we had that Halloween party?" Crow smirks getting Kafe to smile as I shudder with a pale face.

"Crow. Don't." I hiss as the three of us walks down the hallway of the grand school.

"Why? You we so adorable! With that cat costume and all." He coos getting me to lightly glare at him as he winks back.

"I was forced into that costume. I can't believe that all of you guys pitched in to buy as many costumes as you can for me." I shudder again thinking of the horrifying memory.

"I still remember all of us heading over to your house. It was quite a night!" Kafe chuckles getting the whole memory to come back like a slap.

A yawn escapes me as I stretch on my bed. It was nearly night time as I can hear kids heading out of their house to collect treats. Me being lazy like always, stayed home.

Of course mom was depressed at how 'grown up' I've become, but she must have forgotten that ever since I was a child, I was always forced to go trick-or-treating. Normally, my brothers will have to drag me downstairs to go out, but they all caught a cold.

Don't know how though...it didn't involve me...Despite myself giving them slight food poisoning or other situations that will possibly get them I'll.

Snuggling to my bed, I hear the doorbell ring getting me to frown. Of course trick-or-treating has started, but how can any kid be brave enough to pass through the scary settings I did? Yes, decorating it the only thing I like about Halloween. It allows me to scare people with a reason and not get in trouble.

Suddenly, a scream emits from our front yard getting me to sit up and tilt my head from the familiar sound. Realization then hits me before I go slide my curtains aside to see a clear view of the front lawn. There, my friends stand there, a few in front of my front door talking with my mom while the rest all stand back not wanting to go through the small horrifying journey.

My face pales.

Why do they do this to me?

Crow notices me before waving while smiling like an idiot getting everyone to look up also. Before they could respond, I glare at them all before sliding my curtains to block my sight of those wretched things. Heading to my door, I make sure it's locked before moving one of my cabinets to stand in front of it blocking entrance for backup.

"Octave?" My mother knocks, "I want you to come down and eat some snacks!"

"Ha! No way, Mom. You're planning to sell me to those devils!" I shout back sitting on my bed with my blanket wrapped around me.

She 'innocently' gasps dramatically, "What do you mean?"

"They're here." I reply knowing she'll get what I'm saying.

Silence.

"Boys, you'll have to knock it down."

"Ha! I knew it! You're a traitor Mom!"

"Octave? Darling?" A familiar voice speaks getting me to narrow my eyes at the door, "Open up, will you?"

"Hell no. Go away. I told you guys I don't want to go and I refuse to." I huff wrapping the blankets more around me.

"Come on! It'll be fun?" Another voice joins.

"No. Now get your treats and head out, little kids. No need to stay in the witch's den." I frown wanting them to leave.

The first voice sighs, "I'll call Leon."

"It's okay boys. Don't worry about it. I've got an idea." My mother's voice reassures before she speaks towards me, "Octave! If you're willing to come out right now, I'll bring you over to Uncle Kim's concert!"

Que the perked up ears.

Slamming the cabinet aside before smashing thebdoor open, I face the person who raised me and my two classmates,"Fine. But I'm not wearing a costume."

Mom smiles, "Boys."

"Sorry Octave." The first voice speaks.

"Don't hate us." The second boy nervously smiles.

And before I knew it, I get tackled to the floor. With an aggregating voice escaping me.

"Guys. Just stop. It may be a good memory for you guys. But it was horrible to me. You got it? I was betrayed by my own mother. So no more talking about that." I shudder even more getting them to whine.

"Well, that sucks. Anyways, we should head to class." Crow pouts, suddenly they stop and face me.

"Your class is here," Kafe nods over to the classroom beside us, "see you later, don't get into more trouble."

"Those sneaky bastards." I mumble as they tricked me into walking me over to my next class, "They think I'm a full on troublemaker. Great."

Not like they didn't think so before.

Huffing, I enter inside the class to look around my surroundings. My eyes catch over to Maki who sits at the window seat as he waves at me. I silently wave back before finding Sung Gun appearing through the doorway.

He looks over to me before a simple nod and heads over to his seat where it was right behind Maki.

"You must be Miss Reiner. Octave Reiner." A voice speaks behind me getting my head to spin back.

A smile rises from my face, "Mr Teach."

He cringes slightly, "I knew it'll sound weird hearing that coming out of your mouth."

I let out a soft laugh, "Of course it would. Who knew that my cousin would be my teacher? It's creepy."

"Oi. You be quiet now. Anyways, since you're already well-known now, there's no need for me to introduce you. You can sit at the back beside Sung Gun Hwan. He's -"

"-in my Chorus Choir. So I know him." I interrupt getting him to chuckle while shaking his head, he does not speak another word while he heads over to his chair.

Smirking, I head over to the seat beside Sung Gun but before doing a stop at Maki's desk.

"Hey." I greet getting him to nod back.

"How were your other classes?" He asks.

"It should already be flying around the school." I sigh getting a chuckle from him.

"You already became so popular within a few minutes. A new record." He sarcastically claps getting me to roll my eyes and slightly slap his arm.

"Whatever." I head over to my desk sitting down before facing Sung Gun, "I'm Octave. Octave Reiner. I hope you'll take care of me here in this class as well!"

"She's talking with Sung Gun!"

"Does she have a death wish?!"

The boy just glances back at me but doesn't respond back as he then ignores my introduction. This causes a tick mark on me as I look over to Maki who has a grim look while shrugging. Sighing, I stand up and check that we still have a few minutes before class begins.

Walking to the front of his desk, I slam my hands down getting eyes to our way as Maki seems like he's praying.

"Hi, I'm Octave Reiner. You can just call me Octave! You're Sung Gun Hwan, right?" I smile as he looks up at me before looking down again to his book.

"Leave me alone. It's better for both you and I." He finally speaks.

"Why should I? I would know what's better for myself than anyone else. And I choose to talk with you." I argue getting him to look back up, with a blank face, "If you give me a chance, I make a decent friend."

He stays silent before sighing, "Do what you want."

Guessing that's the best answer I can get from him for now, I smile brightly before heading back to my seat. Maki catches my attention as I place a thumbs up towards him which he shakes his head at.

Confused, he just faces back to the front before the bell rings signaling the beginning of class.

Time passes by with ease as I didn't have to exactly pay attention to this class. I already knew everything needed in here, because of my parents. I was forced to learn more advanced classes in a young age, and I'm glad I did.

Hiding my phone behind my textbook, I head over to YouTube before going to one of my uncompleted watching videos. Smiling as I hear the melody of the music from my ear buds in my ear, I follow attentively to the dance moves shown.

Right foot down, left arm up while swinging to the side. Quickly switch from left then back to right foot.

The moves were trying to be remembered in my mind as I continue to watch. Feeling a stare on me, or my phone in exact, I look over to Sung Gun to find him watching the video too. He catches my look at him which he responds with a flinch and turns away, with his face looking away from me, but I could clearly see his red ears.

Quickly glancing over to Mr Teach as he doesn't notice me not paying attention, I nudge Sung Gun's foot with mine. This gets him to look back as I begin mouthing to him, close to a whisper.

"You like K-Pop?" I ask getting him to slowly nod hesitantly as my face brightens, "Who's your favorite artist?"

Sucking his lips in, it takes him a few seconds before he finally answers, "Ailee or SNSD."

Wanting to gasp so bad, I didn't, I bring my fist towards him ready to cry as I finally found a friend to talk about K-Pop with. He silently fist bumps me back before I continue our conversation.

"Bias?"

"...Taeyeon."

Just when I was about to ask another question, the sound of a throat clearing appears behind me getting me to look back and up to the unimpressed face of my cousin.

"Yes, Mr Teach?" I innocently ask placing my face on my hand to support it upwards.

"Miss Reiner. This is your first day of classes, I suggest you pay more attention to the class." He replies back hiding the smile on his lips getting me to fake laugh nervously.

"Sorry."

Wanting to play with me, he smirks.

"As a punishment, I will like you and Mr Hwan to perform a duet. It seems like you both have an interest to...the same kind of music. So why not?" He challenges me, once again.

Like always, he wants to challenge me in everything ever since our childhood. Just because I beat him once at his most favorite game, Othello, he's been so competitive since then. I don't know if it's sickening or tiring, possibly both.

"Okay. I'm fine with that. Sung Gun?" I look over to the boy who in return just shrugs.

"Sure."

Gasps.

"He - He talks!"

"What the -"

Smiling, I look over back to Mr Teach, "If you'll excuse us, we'll need a minute to prep."

Standing up from my desk, I grab hold of Sung Gun's hand before rushing out of the room. Closing the door behind us, I take out my phone once again.

"So what song do you wanna sing?" I suddenly ask.

He shrugs, "Your choice."

"No way, buddy. It's going to be yours. I finally found a friend that I can talk about K-Pop with, you do not know how long I've waited."

He frowns, "You too?"

"Me too, what?"

He flinches, "Well. I was also trying to find someone to talk with about... K-Pop."

"Destiny has intertwined us." I wink getting him to stiffen, "Anyways, you're choosing the song. Anything in mind?"

"What's your favorite band?" He randomly asks, but I still answer.

"Hard to say, since there's so many. But depending on the music, it's either VIXX or INFINITE. In honesty, I wanna say like 50 more like PENTAGON, BTS, SEVENTEEN, EXO, BTOB, BTS, NU'EST and so many more. How can I only love one?" I dramatically sigh.

He chuckles at this while shaking his head, "Then why did you ask me the same question?"

"I like torturing others to choose one." I playfully shrug, "Just joking. I just do."

He looks at me weirdly before shrugging it off.

"Anyways, what song?"

He thinks about it, "How about Eyes, Nose, Lips from Taeyang?"

A smile comes onto my face, "Great choice, my dear friend. Let's do this."

Heading back inside the classroom after we decide which parts we each sing, I tell my cousin what song we're singing, so he places the instrumental music at the background.

Doing a quick warm up before the music begins, I hum in different octaves. Looking over to Sung Gun, we both nod to each other before we begin.

When we were done, I didn't realize us looking at each other the whole time. This catches me to smile as I see one on his own face, without him realizing. And when he does, he blushes slightly before looking away.

Knowing this is the best reaction I can get from him so far, I look back go the class.

Looks like there's gonna be another thread of gossips.
