《Danganronpa ocem》Chapter 1 Part 2

After hearing Crysty's brave words, We split up once again to explore, but this time our hearts were heavy. There were only a few shops on the fifth floor that had not been transformed into dorms, so Chloe and I took our time exploring those.
Chloe: If I knew this was going to happen, I would've come to buy my stuff tomorrow.
Ashlyn: I told myself this would be a short trip, just in and out, I didn't know...
Chloe: I guess we can worry about this Mastermind later, first we need to check out the other shops.
Ashlyn: Right.
Chloe: Look here's a clothes shop!
We walked into the clothes shop to see what was inside.
Sumana: Oh hey!
Miyoshi: Sumana get off me before I make you.
Chloe: You guys seem a little busy here so maybe we'll just go...
Miyoshi: No please don't or I might just set myself on fire.
Ashlyn: Did you guys find anything here? Maybe a body...
Sumana: Not yet!
Miyoshi: You weren't even looking around you just kept standing behind me and eating my hair or something!
Sumana: Jeez I wasn't eating your hair I was just looking at it!
Miyoshi: That's equally as creepy! I didn't consent to you being my partner anyway why are you following me?
Chloe: Maybe you guys should leave because Ashlyn and I need to search this shop too... If you don't mind, I mean!
Miyoshi: No it's okay, I'll go leave Sumana at daycare or something you guys search this place.

There's a changing room in the back, nothing out of the ordinary, just a mirror, hooks for the clothes, and a stool to sit on. Wait a second...
Ashlyn: Hey come look at this! There's a blood stain on the mirror. It's small, but quite noticeable!

Chloe: You're right... Could this be where the Mastermind killed the cashier?
Ashlyn: That's very likely, Monokuma probably already moved the body. Do you think Monokuma killed the staff from every shop here?
Chloe: I think he did, if not, the staff would still be here.
Ashlyn: I'll continue searching, we can tell the others about what we find tomorrow morning.
There's a bunch of clothes racks here, nothing I wouldn't expect from a clothes store. But in further inspection, these clothes kinda suck. Not that I'd know anything.
That's a counter, where the cashier used to stand before they got brutally murdered by the Mastermind.
There's a bunch of boxes over here, they're all filled to the brim with clothes. Nothing wrong here.
Ashlyn: Oh, there's something here.
( I'm sorry I just need the picture of the clip )
Ashlyn: It's a Monokuma hair clip, but it's the black side of monokuma only...
Chloe: Did the Mastermind drop this here?
Ashlyn: Probably, I'll keep this and show the others tomorrow. Anyway, I think we're done searching this shop. Let's move on.
Chloe: Alright.
We walked over to the next shop, which sold electronics and power tools.
Sophie: Oh, hey.
Chloe: Hey Sophie, you're searching this shop?
Sophie: What does it look like I'm doing? I'm microwaving my grandmother.
Ashlyn: Have you found anything yet?
Sophie: I've searched the physical shop, but I haven't checked what's on the computers.
Chloe: Aren't these computers new? Why would they have anything on them?
Sophie: After the Mastermind took control, they might have put something into these computers.
Chloe: That's right! You're the ultimate Programmer! Do what you can and we'll look around the shop again.
Sophie: Try not to bother me.

There's a shelf on the right side of the store packed with big cameras. I think I should check if there's any pictures on these, since Sophie's busy with the computers.
Ashlyn: Oh I found a picture
Ashlyn: It seems like some sort of control room...
Chloe: If it's on the camera and not on the computer, I don't think it was photo-shopped. And it has to be a real place...
Ashlyn: And since this was a camera that came from a shop, the picture had to either be taken in the mall...
Chloe: Or this shop...
Chloe and I decided to look around searching for some sort of hidden room and...
Chloe: Hey I think there's something behind this mirror.
Ashlyn: Mirror? Why would there be a mirror in an electronic store?
Chloe: That's what I was asking myself, and I decided to check it out and I found...
Chloe pulled the mirror with all her strength and it came right off, revealing a big metal door with a thumbprint scanner on its front.
Ashlyn: Woah... What do you think's behind here?
Sophie: Hey, what's this?
Chloe: We found a secret door behind the mirror. I think it has a control room behind it. But it has a thumbprint scanner.
Ashlyn: There has to be a reason this door was covered up. Maybe this is a secret room only the Mastermind can use.
Chloe: In that case, the thumbprint scanner should only let the door be opened if it scans the Mastermind's thumbprint! I think we should all scan our thumbprints here, and if it lets us in, it means we're the mastermind. Come on, scan your thumb!
Chloe and I took turns scanning our thumbs, but the door denied them.
Chloe: Sophie, it's your turn. Come scan your thumb and prove you're not the Mastermind!
Sophie: Why should I?
Ashlyn: What do you mean 'Why should I'? To prove your innocence!
Sophie: But what's the use of that? To ruin the fun?
Chloe: If we find the Mastermind, we can leave this mall! We're not ruining the fun when there was no fun in the first place!
Sophie: I'm not scanning my thumb.
Ashlyn: WHAT?
Sophie: Don't you guys think that finding the Mastermind when it hasn't even been a day would be pretty lame? Don't you guys want to feel the real pleasure this killing game can provide you?? Don't you guys want to experience the Adrenaline rush? The heart pounding excitement? The utter DESPAIR??? DESPAIR THAT CAN BRING YOU THE MOST PLEASURE THAT NO ONE COULD EVER GIVE YOU????
Chloe and I looked at Sophie, who had now brought herself up to us, close enough that we could hear her even if she whispered.
Sophie: Don't you?
Sophie's face returned to normal, and she began to walk out of the shop, giggling a bit with every step she walked, as if she hadn't returned to her original state.
Sophie: And by the way, there was nothing on the computers.
My mind felt all messed up. What just happened? What did we just witness?
Sophie, who was the calmest out of all of us when it started. Who did she become? Is this what it's like?
Is this despair?

Adventurer Book II - Dawn of an Empire Short story prequel- The Lurking Lair: An Adventuer Series Short Story Summary for the LitRPG savvy reader: Looking for a LitRPG that is more tabletop traditional role playing game and less MMORPG? This is probably your cup of tea. Long term progression with a heavy slice of life element. Strong mix and inclusion of ancient Greek life, values, and myths. Hence, the world can be a bit more harsh and brutish than modern sensibilities. The system is tangible and knowable beyond the MC's insights. The MC is more of an everyman than someone specifically chosen for the experience. Author's Note: This is my debut novel. Up until this point, the only thing I have written of comparable length has been non-fiction and related to history. I am immensely grateful to all the folks who have given me feedback and helped me improve my writing.

MANTIS: On Hiatus
Two young adults who were childhood friends are killed amidst a pandemic worse than our own. After many years apart, Rihelah was on her way to see Michael, hoping to rekindle their friendship on the day they would both lose their lives. The pair are unwittingly selected to represent Earth in a test set forth by godlike beings who are intrigued that our world gave rise to complex life without having been intentionally seeded by their kind. Michael and Rihelah are reincarnated as predatory insects upon a distant planet called Edon. Elves, Dwarves, Dragons and their kin, Goblins, Ogres, Humans, Lizardfolk, Orcs, and sapient arthropods known as Enkelyn all inhabit this beautiful world touched by magic. The tiny mantids must survive terrified and very much alone upon arrival, while neither is aware that the other has also been reincarnated upon the same island. Naked in their new chitinous exoskeletons, they must now brave the terrors of an alien world's food chain. Each will benefit from their years of experience on Earth, but they must somehow find a balance between old lives and new. Moderate mindsets and peaceful values from a mostly safe and privileged life on Earth must now contend and somehow coexist with the strange physiology of a new and unfamiliar body as well as the violent aggressiveness of a predator's mind. To top things off, the pair are about to find themselves struggling with their inner turmoil while swept up by terrible conflicts they know nothing about. Both endure the hardships of their new lives while attempting to understand and make proper use of a mysterious and terse video-game-like System that pops status notifications into their vision from time to time, but initially has no useful interface. Some of the options they are presented with sound enticing, but as with everything else in life, each choice has benefits and drawbacks... Author's Note: This story makes many changes to the original version, and readers of Mantid will find that many things in Mantis are new and different; especially after the first few chapters. I've learned a ton from writing like a madman, and also from the RR community. I appreciate you guys! :)
