She began laughing.
And then she stopped.
"Oh, you're serious."
"You know, it's a good thing you're pretty."
"Are you saying I'm stupid?"
Again; a kitten who thought she was a lion.
"I'm saying you should get on this bike right now if you don't want a detention."
Terror washed over her face, "I'm not getting on that."
"Scared are we?"
A moment of hesitation passed by, "No."
"Prove it."
She looked at me, then the bike, then her watch, "Fine." I watched her walk behind me. She lifted her right leg and gently slid up onto the seat.
With that, her skirt moved up a bit, showing off her prefect tanned legs.
What? I'm a guy. Get over it.
"You're going to want to hold onto me."
"You're enjoying this aren't you." she commented as she slid her skinny arms around my waist.
"Please, I bet on the inside, you're the one who's enjoying the intimacy. Try not to touch me too much."
I could just imagine her rolling her eyes, "Don't go too fast."
"Don't kiss me next time."
"Then don't kiss me back."
Aw Chloe, what is it about you?
I chuckled, "Alright, hold on tight Chica."
With that, I went off.
Fast, really fast.
~*~
"Okay Chloe, you can let go now."
Nope. No use.
"Chloe?" I had managed to get us to school in less than five minutes. Every time Chloe would loosen her grip on me, I'd accelerate...and now, well, she's not letting go.
"Chloe? C'mon, we're at school now." She had her head lying against my back; her soft breaths leaving warmth.
I slowly untangled her hold, grabbed her bag and helped her off my bike.
Oh God, I was being a gentleman.
I made a mental note to smash a mailbox later.

"Eaaaasy tiger," I grabbed Chloe by the waist seconds before she was about to collapse in her weakened state. She hadn't said a word for ages now; instead, she rested her head against my chest.
A moment later, she began hitting me.
"That was so mean of you! How could you? You jerk...I begged you not to go so fast!" She tried pushing me away but instead, she lost a little of her balance.
Again, I caught her just in time, "Woaaaaah, easy killer."

I avoided him the whole day.
I avoided his adorable head-nods, his cute smirks...his whole presence.
Maybe that's why I was feeling depressed.
"Okay that's it," Gabby suddenly cut off my thoughts, "I have to ask you something that's been on my mind all morning."
"Yeah? What?"
"Odette said that she saw you and Reece riding to school on his motorbike this morning. Is it true?"
Allie stopped picking her food and Charlie looked up from the text he was sending.
Awkward.
"Yeah, so?"
"I thought you were scared of motorbikes?" Charlie commented, sounding a little bothered.
"I am."
"Wait; is this the same guy who's your neighbor? The Hot one?" Allie asked.
"Yeah."
Gabby's shock still wasn't over, and it was beginning to irritate me, "What?!"
She blinked, twice.
"What do you mean what? Didn't I already tell you about Reece Carter? Didn't I already say that he's NEVER seen with a girl? Reece has NEVER, EVER let a girl ride with him on his bike. Hell, he won't let anyone go near it; he loves it more than anything."
A moment of silence passed by; I was as confused as a....
Okay, I've got nothing.
"Am I supposed to feel... special?"
She gave me that look – the one that says: You're kidding me right? Well no shit Sherlock.

Gabby threw her hands up in defeat, "I give up."
The number of times I wanted to say that when I was dealing with your problems with Oliver.
Which reminded me, "How are things going with Oliver?"
Gabby's lips formed into a smile. She handed me her mobile phone.
7 New Messages: Oliver
Miss you babe
Hey babe, where are you?
Call me
Gabby, pick up?
Call me when you get this baby
Babe, are you okay? Are...we okay? Please call me back, miss you
Gabby, I wanna talk to you, I love you, miss you baby girl
"Oh my God, what the heck are you doing here? Go find him!" I practically yelled.
"What? But you said - "
"- Yeah, but that was before he said HE LOVES YOU! Blonde much?"
"Oh."
"Yes, oh. Now get the Hell out of here."
I sighed, what would she do without me?
~*~
"Do you think Cindy May likes me?" Charlie asked as we lay in the grass. I was too busy ripping the autumn leaves piece by piece.
"Charles, she's been in love with you since third grade."
"Really?"
"Yes, really. Anyway, name a girl who isn't in love with you." I remarked as I pinched his cheek.
God, he's just so cute.
"Yeah, okay, I know I'm lovable, don't need to state the obvious."
"I thought you were going out with Ciara?" Allie asked.
"Yeah, she dumped me." Charlie answered as if he were talking about the football game.
"What?"
"She said something like, Charlie, we never talk! All do is have sex." he said in an exaggerated girly voice.
"Charles, don't ever do that voice again." I laughed.
"I thought after all the girl's you've dated, she'd know better." Allie commented.
Charlie sat up in excitement, "I know right! I mean, she said something about me not spending enough time with her, or not talking to her enough...what the hell does that even mean?!"
"Did you get her a birthday present?"
Charlie nodded, looking very proud of himself, "I certainly did."
"What did you get her?"
"Macadamia nuts."
Allie sighed, "Charlie, she's allergic to nuts."
"Oh."
I chuckled, "Did you spend the weekend with her?"
"Does giving her a text with heaps of x's and o's count?"
~*~
After school, Allie and I went to the shopping centre.
When I noticed how silent she was, I nudged her, "Hey, are you alright?"
"Yeah..."
"Sure. Now let's try that again. What's wrong?"
"Really, it's nothing."
"Allie, I'm your best friend, you can tell me anything."
Her eyes began to sparkle. She looked down at her hands and spoke in a small voice, "But it won't make any difference, it's not like I have a chance."
"What do you mean?" we both sat down on the plush sofas. Allie was still timid – I could tell, so I gave her hand a little squeeze, "C'mon Allie, what is it babe?"
"I'm in love with Charlie." I could feel my eyes widen. When did this happen? Wait – was it there all along, and I never noticed? I thought back to the way Allie would smile when she said she was happy for Charlie every time he'd go out with someone new – it was a sad smile wasn't it? Damn.
"Okay, that's great, isn't it?"
"No, it's not."
I was confused, "Why? I could help you guys get together, it's what I do best."
Allie looked the other direction and quickly wiped away a single tear that had managed to escape, "You don't get it Chloe, you just don't see it."
"See what Allie?!"
"You just can't see that I'm in love with him...and you just can't see...that Charlie's in love with you."

Silhouette
WARNING: THIS STORY HAS A SLOW START. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. We all grew up hearing stories about heroes and villains, but what would we do if we were to be part of one? One night, a bioweapon escaped from its laboratory in Zalcien, only to die in a dark alley. One night, a young man lent a helping hand, only to die alone in the dark. One night, a deity of death saw two lost souls and offered one a second chance in the other's body. Now a strange creature made of darkness, James has to deal with his new form in a strange new world where superpowers, heroes and villains are commonplace, far away from his home. Watch as he learns how to use his powers, as he meets allies and enemies and how, when facing the paths of heroism and villainy, he chooses a third way somewhere in between. Follow the story of James, a lost Earthling soul, as he becomes Silhouette, the mysterious power in the shadows. Greetings fellow humans. This is my first story on Royal Road and my first long-term project written in English, so I do hope you will have some mercy in your heart when reading. So, as you may have understood, this is a story with super-heroes - which is quite ironic for my first story considering all of the other ones planned are fantasy - and as such will take place in a modern-like setting. Despite dark themes and gory scenes making their way into the story, it is still a super-hero world with the logic that matches, so expect characters to survive nuclear explosions without a scratch and yet to get defeated by a rubber ducky - as well as similar dark humor, thus the comedy part.

Myth of The World's Trees
And Simon answered their call with a single statement that nobody understood "Et super mos absit hoc hodie!" "Yah!" "WWWaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!" "AAAlllllaaaaallllaaaaallllaaaa!" "EeEEellllleeeeeelllllleeeeeeuuuuuuu!" I, too, yelled a battle cry at the top of my lungs. I had no idea what Simon had just spouted but from Camilla's giggling, I could guess that Simon thought that spouting nonsense was his way of getting out of the earlier predicament. "I forbid death upon this day," Camilla said. "What?" I answered a bit at a loss. "Ancient Latin," she replied smugly, "He said 'I forbid death upon this day'." I laughed aloud "Then he is gonna be really disappointed in everyone here," Camilla did not reply and instead took a deep breath. I did the same, zoning out everything in my surroundings. The environment became a world of electrical pulses traveling across several networks. I perceived the world through my lightning and sped my heartbeat to inhuman levels. I was present now, at this moment, at this point in time. I could feel the electrifying air saturating my lungs, the electrified ground vibrating at the rhythm of the approaching enemy. Then I took a step forward, everyone followed in tandem. Camilla the first, and then the others. Then I took a second step, and this time everyone followed simultaneously. Third step… Fourth step… Fifth step… Then light jogging… Speeding up… Running … Running faster…. Then suddenly, everyone disappeared into motes of light particles that re-constructed itself hundreds of feet above the horde, dozens of miles away from our initial position. We were literally 'diving' into battle.-------------------------------------------------------------------Despite a rough childhood in the slums, Omari had everything a guy could want - a loving girlfriend, an understanding sister, a wonderful teacher, and his dream job. Still, the scars from his childhood made Omari unable to live a dull life. He dreamed of something greater... something beyond the reaches of what humankind could achieve in the current era.Like always, Omari should have been careful what he wished for. In the year 2046, the World was thrown into chaos as the apocalypse came in the form of massive trees that shot up out of the ground one day. These trees towered over the tallest of buildings and had thicknesses that spanned kilometers at a time. They grew everywhere, in homes, businesses, and cities as they formed a complex network that overlayed the old world. The cause of the apocalypse was unknown, but Omari's workplace was believed to be the origin point of the unfortunate events.Fifteen years after the start of the Apocalypse... after all the pain and suffering... after losing everything he cared about, Omari sent his memories back in time to make sure that the future he lives in, never came to be.Will he be able to uncover the mystery of The Trees? Will he be able to protect all those he has lost? Will he succeed, or will his attempt be washed away by the currents of time? Will Omari be able to learn the truth about 'THE MYTH OF THE WORLD'S TREES'?
