《Dear Happy // Fantastic Beasts》Seven

Mercy stayed in bed all day, her locket still pressed against her chest. Last night's conversation with her grandmother still rung through her head even though Alice could've been lying. But, Mercy knew that her grandmother wouldn't lie to her, or at least not intentionally. Even if she was telling the truth, would Newt say that? Would he tell a woman he's only met once something so big, considering the first time they met, she wasn't exactly as friendly.
'Are you ever going to leave your room?'
Mercy sat up staring at Alice as she peered in from the hallway, she smiled slowly approaching Mercy's bed.
'I know it's a lot to take in' Alice spoke
'Did you really talk to him?'
'Yes'
'Did he really say what you said he said?' Mercy whined
'Would that be so bad?'
Mercy frowned laying back down, she held up her locket as she opened it, revealing a photo of her and Newt.
'Not really' Mercy whispered
'He really likes you, you know? He looked like he was going to breakdown when he talked about you still begin mad'
'I... I'm not mad, anymore. I don't think I ever really was'
'You can tell he knows he made a mistake' Alice whispered placing a warm hand on Mercy's knee, she faintly smiled.
'But, why wait four years? I told him where to find me and we agreed we were still friends--best friends'
Alice just sighed before standing up 'have you seen anyone since you two departed?'
'Yah, I've been out once and awhile' Mercy said
'I know he was your only friend, you said it yourself back at my apartment in New York'
'Yeah, so?'
Alice just smiled before walking out of the room. Mercy frowned letting out a loud sigh, Newt wasn't the only one who made a mistake.

Mercy got up, getting dressed quickly she ran downstairs. Alice was sitting in the living room drinking a cup of what Mercy assumed was coffee, she smiled at Mercy before taking another sip from her cup.
'I'm going out'
'Good for you!' Alice shouted 'wait, going out where?'
'Not sure'
Mercy yanked open the door and jumped out onto the snowy sidewalk. Running down the empty streets she realized she had no idea where she was going but it felt good to run, it felt good to be outside. Mercy felt alive running down the snowy side walk, she smiled trying to catch some snowflakes as they fell from the dark sky.
Eventually Mercy stopped playing around in the snow like a five year old, she calmed herself down and began walking towards downtown London. Getting closer to the middle of the city it slowly got busier, people were everyone trying to purchase items or just have dinner. Mercy walked into her favourite cafe, it happened to be empty with only employees wondering around the small space.
'Mercy!' A cashier yelled smiling
'Hey, Adam'
'Your usual?'
'No, can I get a peppermint latte?'
'Of course' he grinned turning around and began making her drink, 'haven't seen you in awhile'
'Well, lots of stuff happened'
'When was the last time you were here?' He asked turned around placing a lid on the drink 'you were with that man'
'That was forever ago, it feels'
'Yeah, it's amazing how time flies' he smiled handing Mercy her hot drink
'How much do I owe you?' She asked digging through her pockets
'It's on me'
'Are you sure?'
'Positive. Have a great day, Mercy. See ya around' he smiled grabbing a cloth before walking behind a door marked -Staff-.

Mercy rushed out of the small cafe and began walking down the cold streets taking small sips from her latte. Quickly she passed many building and shops before ending up in front of the London Eye. She thought hard for a few minutes about going on but heights were never her thing, they never would be. Mercy turned on her heel and walked across the street into a small shop, she wanted to get something for Alice. Wondering down multiple isles, she still couldn't find anything she thought Alice would like. Besides, Mercy didn't even know her well enough to know what she would like as a gift. Instead, Mercy decided to walk towards the pet section to by more things for her kitten, Archie.
An employee handed her an empty basket for her shopping, she smiled and thanked the woman before setting her attention back onto the wall of cat toys. Mercy picked out a small squeaky mouse and a laser pointer, she thought Archie would enjoy these, at least for now. She smiled to herself as she turned around, walking back to the cashier desks the door whisked open and a small bell sounded. Now Mercy wasn't the only person in the shop, she stepped on her tiptoes to get a better look at the stranger.
A relatively tall man walked in, he immediately looked at the floor and headed to the other end of the shop. Mercy payed for her things, as she turned around she noticed the man was staring at her. He looked away as she turned, Mercy felt strange, on some levels scared. She headed for the doors as she felt eyes burning at her back, she stopped and turned around once more before marching over to the man as he headed deeper into the store.
Mercy shook her thoughts from her head as she approached the man, he was focused on a dairy sign.
'Excuse me?'
The man didn't turn around, move or make any noise.
'Excuse me?' She asked again as she slowly turned around 'why were you staring at me?'
'Er... is that wrong?'
She stared at the man, astonished. It was Newt, he was actually standing in front her, he really was back in London.
'W-what are you doing here?' She stuttered
'Nothing' he mumbled walking out of sight as a loud crack sounded and he was gone. She stood there shocked, why was he avoiding her? She frowned before following his actions, she needed to get home and she didn't feel like walking.
Mercy landed in the living room, Alice was still sat on the couch. She jumped seeing Mercy.
'Another rose came' Alice said
'I saw him' Mercy shouted rushing to the kitchen, she picked up the rose and searched within the petals. This time not caring about putting the flower with the others, she needed answers. The note was folded tightly, it took her a few seconds to unfold it.
Mercy frowned, a tear slid down her pale cheek. She laughed at the thought of her crying over this, maybe she really did want him back in her life.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

System Supervillain
I was there when it happened. When the walls of reality came crashing down upon us. When everything changed. I was there. I watched it happen. There wasn’t anything I could do, of course. When two veritable demigods are fighting to the death, getting caught in between is a great way to end up very dead. Or worse. That’s when it happened. Raw time crashed with pure paradox, and the universe itself screamed in torment. Night turned to day turned to yesterday and tomorrow and blue and yellow and whale and petunia, and then it snapped back, all at once, with a thunderous roar that was not heard but felt. And then I saw the blue box for the first time. ------------ A System Apocalypse event happens in a world of superheroes, like you would see in the comic books. What happens when the world changes, and heroes and villains are now bound by a System that limits their powers? What will change, and what will remain the same? This story will incorporate Champions/HERO System 5th Edition rules. There will be dice rolls determining the action, and blue boxes with lots of crunchy numbers. If you're not down for that, there are plenty of other stories on this site that you'll like. But if that sounds fun to you, then welcome aboard, and I invite you to see what happens when someone becomes a System Supervillain.
