《Whatever It Takes | Rosekook ✓》01: ghost

Roseanne Park watched a hundred influencers move to Psy's New Face, their phones raised in the air, lighting up the ballroom. Multicolored laser lights flitted across the room while swirling clouds of purple smoke danced around the dj's booth and the dance floor. Two women wearing animal print bikinis were shooting bursts of rainbow-colored confetti into the crowd from oversized confetti guns.

Roseanne shook her head as she pushed the sweating, half-naked bodies, watching as they took selfies with one another in an effort to gain more views.

She exited the ballroom to enter an entrance hall decorated in black and purple balloons.

Posters stating cameras were not allowed outside of the ballroom hung along the walls and in standing billboards.

Tables packed with snacks and wine glasses gestured to her growling stomach. The sugary frosting from the chocolate and vanilla cupcakes set in a tier beside an ice Ststue of the verified social media icon tickled her nose.

Roseanne glanced around before adjusting the strap of her black bag and making her way to a tray of orange chicken. She was about to grab another one when a screeching voice stopped her.

"Stop right there!"

Roseanne turned to see Chou Tzuyu, a popular youtube star known for her makeup tutorials, pointing a black, manicured finger at her. Tzuyu's black hair was curled. She wore a crimson velvet dress much too fancy to a party and around her neck was a silver heart-shaped necklace she wore daily. A heart-shaped diamond was in the center of the necklace.

Roseanne recognized the jewelry piece because tzuyu had made an entire video about it being a custom-made gift from her boyfriend, Jeon Jungkook. The video caused everyone to refer to Jungkook as their internet boyfriend for weeks.

"That food is for guests," Tzuyu said before wobbling on her heels. "Who are you, anyway? You don't look familiar," Tzuyu took an unsteady step forward as she hiccuped, her eyes narrowing.

"My name is Rosé," Roseanne told her.

"Rozay?" Tzuyu repeated, confused.

"Yeah," Roseanne nodded.

"Doesn't ring a bell."

"That's probably because I'm not famous," Roseanne bit the inside of her cheek as she smiled. "Five-hundred thousand subscribers."

"Wow," Tzuyu chuckles. "What is an irrelevant youtuber like you doing here? Did you sneak in? I'm going to call security."

"This might sound surprising but I was actually invited," Roseanne snorted.

Before Tzuyu could respond, a male voice called out.

"I've been looking all over for you," Jeon Jungkook approached them in his signature black attire. He was the leader of the vlogging squad known as the Trinity. His dark hair was ruffled like some Instagram model just ran her fingers through it and roseanne would bet good money one probably did. Tzuyu and Jungkook had been dating for months, but the two of them had stopped collaborating on videos a few weeks ago. He grabbed Tzuyu's wrist. "We need to talk."

Tzuyu rolled her eyes and pulled her wrist from his grasp. "Don't touch me."

Jungkook let out a frustrating sigh and pointed at Tzuyu's necklace. "Why are you still wearing that? We-"

She gave him a wide smile. "Why would I stop wearing something that my boyfriend gave me?"

"You're unbelievable. You don't care who you hurt do you?"

"What?" Tzuyu said in a baby voice. "Is Kookie angry?" She then began to laugh, which caused her to tip forward.

"Are you drunk?" Jungkook growled, grabbing her arm to stop her from falling. "Get yourself together before someone sees you."

"Who's going to see me? Her?" Tzuyu pointed at Roseanne, giggling. "No one is going to believe her. She's a nobody."

"Wow," Roseanne muttered. "She's not only a diva, but also cruel."

Jungkook's eyes landed on Roseanne and examined her. Roseanne felt uncomfortable by his gaze and stepped back.

"Not if she takes a video of you," Jungkook reminded her. "You don't need words when pictures speak for themselves."

Before they could pay her any more attention, Roseanne took another step away from them. She waited a few seconds as Jungkook and Tzuyu argued before quickly making her way up the winding staircase.

She switched on her iphone and faced it towards herself, wishing her friend Mark had skipped work. Mark Lee was usually Roseanne's camera man when she made videos. He didn't want to miss work so she opted to use her phone's camera to make her videos.

"Hi everyone. Welcome back to my channel. I'm Rosé and today's video is a ghost hunting video that takes place at the Park Mansion. For those of you who don't know," Roseanne said, staring at her camera. "Ten years ago, Park Jihyo was a bride-to-be who was murdered in her bedroom. After her death, the family moved out and began renting the home to anyone wealthy enough to afford the one-hundred thousand dollars a month price-tag. Over the years, there have been accounts from women living here that they've seen Jihyo and have felt like someone has tried choking them in their sleep."

She pulled out a small flashlight from her shoulder bag. She opened a door, looked in it, and closed it. She did this a few more times until she opened a door and was greeted with a room decorated in varying shades of red. There was a bed in one corner. A set of french doors leading to a balcony was against the back wall.

"I think this one is it," she whispered. She stepped inside, the wooden floor squeaking under her weight. She pulled out her k2 and her spirit box, both tools she used when she ghost hunted.

The spirit box used radio-frequency waves to allow ghosts to communicate with roseanne. Basically, it was a robotic translator for the dead. She set it down on one of the bedside tables along with the flashlight. She flipped it on and the sound of radio waves twisting back and forth surrounded her.

She grabbed the k2 emf meter and turned it on as well. The emf meter had a rainbow of colors at the top which lit up. When the red lights glowed, it indicated a supernatural entity was close by. When the green bulb on the device lit up, it indicated no spiritual activity was present.

"Park Jihyo, my name is Rosé. I'm not here to do you any harm. I just have a few questions for you."

Roseanne picked up her flashlight and moved it around the walls to see a large painting of a woman wearing a stern expression.

She cleared her throat. "Jihyo, there's a theory that your fiancé was the person who killed you? Is that true? We're you about to marry a murderer? You can tell me. He won't know."

She faced her phone towards herself. "Two months after was found dead in this room, her fiancé, Kang Daniel, married an actress and you guys may know her as Kim Sejeong. Later, it was discovered the two had been having an affair behind Jihyoms back. Police suspected Daniel was Jihyo's murderer but couldn't pin it on him because his best man was his alibi at the time of Jihyo's death. Also, there wasn't really a motive for Daniel. He wouldn't get any of Jihyo's money until after he married her."

She looked down at her emf meter and noticed the yellow bulb light up followed by the orange bulb.

"Do you see that? It's lighting up," she faced the camera to her emf meter. "She's here. I just know it," Roseanne licked her lips in anticipation. She placed the meter on the table so it was standing on one side.

"There's a party going on downstairs," Roseanne said loudly. "Does that make you angry? Does it bother you? talk to me, Jihyo."

Footsteps scurrying across the wooden floor startled her. Roseanne gasped and stood still. She could hear herself breathing in the dark.

"Was that you, Jihyo? Are you trying to scare me?" She whispered.

The squeaking of the floorboards being stepped on was her reply.

"Talk to me," Roseanne said, pointing the camera at the spirit box. "Say what you want me to hear, Jihyo."

"Run-"

Roseanne cursed under her breath. "Say that again, Jihyo. I didn't quite catch that."

"Run."

Three loud bangs broke the silence of the room followed by a piercing scream that echoed around her. The spirit box shared a garbled whisper. "Run. Now."

Another feminine scream from outside caused roseanne to drop her phone. She cursed again before pushing the french doors open and running out to the balcony overlooking a big pool occupied by three people.

She stared down as two more screams filled the air. Sprawled on the ground in her fancy gown was Chou Tzuyu, a puddle of crimson-red surrounding her body.
