《Whatever It Takes | Rosekook ✓》Chapter 2

"That wasn't real. That wasn't real. That wasn't real," Roseanne chanted the words under her breath as she ran down the stairs. She wanted to go home and forget this ever happened. Even the voice from the spirit box wasn't cheering her up.

While the party was still going on, Roseanne tried calling the police but she was told that someone already called it in. She disconnected the call and grabbed her ghost-hunting gear. Her friend Mark was right. Coming to this party was a mistake.

Her foot was about to hit the first floor when a pair of strong arms grabbed her and held her in place.

"What were you doing upstairs?" Jeong Jaehyun, one-third member of the Trinity, was looking at her suspiciously. "No one was allowed upstairs."

"D-does it matter?" She tried to get out of his grip.

"It does to me," he frowned. "Were you even invited to this party? Who let you in?"

"What's going on, Jaehyun?" A familiar voice came into the scene.

"I caught her going upstairs, Jungkook," Jaehyun told him before he turned to Roseanne, again.

"Answer my question. Who let you in?"

"My fairy godmother," Roseanne answered, not wanting him to know he was intimidating. She needed to act normal if she wanted to go home. "I figured she was good enough for Cinderella, so..."

Jungkook's eyes flickered to her black heels. "She forgot she needed to give you the glass slippers instead. You have to wear them if you want to catch a Prince."

Even though he didn't know about his dead girlfriend, Roseanne couldn't help but feel angry. "I said my fairy godmother, not my pimp. Besides, I haven't seen any princes, only frogs." she looked back at Jaehyun. "Will you let me go now? I really have to go."

Jaehyun chuckled, tightening his grip. "Now you're just mixing up fairy tales. Whoever let you in made a mistake or was feeling charitable."

"Let me go," Roseanne demanded. She pulled her arm away from him.

"You're so jumpy — it's like you just saw a dead body or something."

She paled at his words. Then: Jungkook spoke.

"Were you surprised when you got the invitation? Or did you really make a fake invite to get past the bouncer?"

Roseanne had been surprised when she received the invitation. The party was for social media stars, and Roseanne was far from that. She would've ignored it thinking it was a prank, but the Park Mansion caused her to go.

"A nobody like you," Jaehyun suddenly said. "Definitely shouldn't be here."

She felt a little sting in her heart, but she shrugged it off. "And yet here you are talking to me, the nobody. Let me go. Or do I have to call the police?"

Before Jaehyun let her go, Jungkook spoke up. "Hold on, you saw me fighting with Tzuyu earlier. Did you record any of it?"

"Jaehyun, Jungkook, what are you guys doing here?" Cha Eunwoo, a former idol and the third member of the trinity. He frowned when he saw roseanne. "Do you know her? She looks familiar," he leaned in to get a better look at her. "You haven't starred in any porn movies, have you?"

"What?" Her eyes widened in disbelief.

She couldn't believe this was happening to her. Out of all things, she did not just see a dead body only to be asked if she was a porn star.

"You know...like the kind where the nerdy girl is secretly banging her teacher."

"Shut up you idiot. You don't ask a stranger that," Jaehyun scolded him.

She pushed Jaehyun away. "Listen, I have to go."

"Not until you show me what you recorded." Jungkook wouldn't let her pass. "There were signs everywhere about not recording outside of the ballroom. I have the right to see."

"Why would I waste my time recording the two of you? I'm a ghost hunter not a gossiper."

"Prove it."

Eunwoo's mouth fell open. "Wait, she recorded the two of you doing it?"

"No," Roseanne and Jungkook said in unison.

Jaehyun slapped Eunwoo's head. "As if Jungkook-"

"That's enough," Jungkook said in a low voice and instantly both of them became quiet. He stretched his hand towards Roseanne. "Let me see your phone, Rosie."

"You don't want to do this. I can't be here."

"Because you snuck in?" Eunwoo asked sympathetically.

"Shut up," Jaehyun hissed.

"Phone," Jungkook demanded.

Roseanne reluctantly handed her phone to him.

"Your code?"

She entered her code, muttering, "what is my life right now?"

Jungkook smirked in response as he opened her gallery. An image of her and Mark was the first image he saw.

"Your boyfriend?"

She narrowed her eyes and refused to answer. He shrugged and pulled up a video of her going through a room. "You really believe in ghosts?"

"This place is haunted?" Eunwoo's eyes widened. "We should do a video here."

Jungkook's eyes narrowed as a scream filled. "I recognize that scream."

Another scream filled the air before the screen turned black from when Roseanne dropped her phone.

Jungkook frowned. "That sounded like-"

Before he could finish, red and blue lights flashed through the windows. The famous trio turned to her.

"I'm so sorry," Roseanne murmured.

"Sorry about what?" Jungkook asked.

He saw police officers enter along with some medics. An Instagram model wearing a swimsuit came running inside. "She's not breathing!"

"What's going on?" Jungkook asked, stepping towards them. The police held him back.

"There was a call reported here. Apparently, someone fell from the balcony."

Jungkook turned to Roseanne. "That scream..."

She nodded, tears running down her cheek as everything finally hit her. "It belonged to Tzuyu."
