"due to the supplier falling behind schedule in the semiconductor division, the company plans to focus on making sure the demands are met, so the milestone set for the first half of the year shouldn't be too difficult to meet." explain jimin with enthusiasm.
yes, i could hear him. but, i just couldn't focus on what he said.
i kept on clicking my pen as jimin continued blabbering everything about our company.
ugh, why it is so hard for me to focus on work?
why does i kept on thinking about park chaeyoung?
-
it seemed liked everything just fell into place for me that day. when my last meeting ended, it ended thirty minutes earlier than planned. i thought of having a drink at time to allow myself to relax.
i was open to meeting someone just as much as i was okay with drinking along as well. i was feeling impulsive and free that night.
"pardon me.." until a honey-like voice came approach me.
i turned to look at her. she is so pretty.
"i guess i must have high standards. it took exactly one hour." she added.
"can i ask what you mean?" i asked, really don't understand what she just said.
"finding the appropriate person for my plan." she said, making me even more confuse.
what plan?
preposterous and bold. that was my first impression of her.
i was so baffled that i missed my chance to say no and was more curious as to what her plan was.
"ah, okay.." at first, i just don't care on what she had said. i thought she probably was always like that.
"i'll have what he's having." she asked the bartender to make the same drink as mine for her.
as soon as a glass of wine is served in front of her, she took and directed it towards me.

i looked at her once again.
"cheers?" she asked.
"cheers." i said as we clinked our glasses together.
that's how i met her.
it was easy to talk to her. we talked for more than an hour non-stop. she didn't act coy. she was intelligent and warm, bold but shy at the same time.
looking at her listening to me earnestly with those bright eyes, it made me feel like i was loved.
"so, what did you need me to do for that plan of yours?" i asked when there was no topic came between both of us.
"my plan.."
my eyes snapped open, looking at her intently.
when i heard her plan, i wasn't repulsed at all. it seems like that moment with her was part of some bigger plan that i couldn't see.
and i truly thought we had clicked.
both in body and heart.
-
i sighed, remembering the first night i met chaeyoung, still clicking on the pen that i'm holding.
"vice president jeon, can you please focus?" jimin threw the planner on the table while his left hand on the waist.
maybe i should ask jimin? his point of view is quite helping.
"jimin, am i unlikable?" i asked.
"what? what an odd question out of the blue..yes, you are unlikable."
r-really?
"in what way?"
"you want a more in-depth explanation?" he asked back.
"yes." i nodded, really want to know the reason.
"as an executive, it's great that you're calculating. however, it's not a great quality for a direct superior to have. you used to get so angry when things wouldn't go accordingly to your plan by a mere ten minutes. and now you're canceling meetings and changing meetings times at will. the secretary team is under so much pressure trying to meet your demands and-" jimin continued to ramble.

i looked away.
this is not what i want to hear. not this point of view!
"that's enough. i got the picture even though you're exaggerating." i stopped him.
"exaggerating.." i know he is speechless after hearing that word. jimin knows i'm right because who the hell ramble that long in front of vice president?
"i wasn't asking about that. i want to know if i'm unlikable as a man." i corrected my statement.
"as a man? you? that's what you're worrying about?"
what? why? am i that unlikeable?
"jungkook, you're acting strange. what's wrong with you?" he asked as he sat on the couch in front of me.
"yeah, i wonder what's wrong with me. it feels like i'm an umbrella after the rain has stopped. do you know what that feels like?" i opened up. i hope by doing this, jimin could help me by giving some advices, perhaps?
"what does that feel like?"
"when you pack an umbrella because of the rain and it stops raining, the umbrella becomes useless and just gets in the way. that's how i feel like i'm being treated." i said, full of honesty.
jimin is not my secretary now, he's my friend in this situation.
"what? no way. who would-" he stopped midway, probably already get who am i talking about.
"are you talking about park chaeyoung? she said you're useless and that you just get in the way?!" jimin suddenly burst loudly after connecting all the dots i've been feeding him.
thank god my office is soundproof.
"well, she didn't say those words exactly. do i look old to you?" i asked again, i don't know why i am so depress and insecure at the same time.
"she said you looked old, too?!" jimin shouted, can't believe what he heard just now.
"then what? does it just seem like she doesn't like you at all? have you tried showering her with presents? isn't it easiest to just buy her interest with your money?" jimin added, giving out his points.
presents?
i wouldn't call it showering her with presents, but i have attempted to buy her things i saw her looking at.
every time i tried though, she made it clear that would've made her uncomfortable. i have more than enough wealth to buy anything she wants, but none of that works on her.
so i thought about what i could do to earn some points.
i even asked ji-hyo what chaeyoung might like.
it turns out that thing she likes is..
"spicy rice cakes." i said to jimin.
"what? you bought her spicy rice cakes? are you serious?! this is why you should've listened to me! i told you not to focus on work so much and to go out and date! spicy rice cakes? i can't believe you.." jimin scolded me while jokingly punching his chest.
i abruptly stood up from my seat. i might be late.
"so miss park said..huh? what are you doing? where are you going?" asked jimin.
"i'm going to go eat spicy rice cake." i told him.
"now? but what about your next meeting? and the shareholder meeting prep?!"
"what's there to worry about when you have a competent secretary? i trust you'll adjust my schedule accordingly, mr. park." i continued to walk towards the door.
"hey, wait!!"
with that, the conversation ended and i drove to dae-han high.
-
i parked the car in front of the school, waiting for chaeyoung inside the car.
i peeked at the watch on my wrist, she'll be coming out soon.
i looked around to see if she is out and there she is. she looks cute as usual.
but, who is that male teacher beside her?!
i've never seen him before?

Memoirs of A Healer/Clinical Social Worker: Autobiography of Bruce Whealton
A loving spouse. A healer. How does this person cope with evil villains willing to destroy everything? They convicted the victim... now how does the victim goes on with life as a healer? As the book opens, I was in a psychiatric hospital following a suicide attempt in December 2019. What starts as a simple conversation with another patient changed my life. Most of the rest of the book tells the reader how I got to this point. I experienced profound injustice between 2004 and 2006. By opening with a story about suicide, I want the reader to understand that the injustice was not just something that happened long ago. This book is an account of all the accomplishments and successes that I had in overcoming tremendous odds and challenges. Growing up, I was paralyzed by shyness and lacked social skills, and so the idea of becoming a psychotherapist never occurred to me when I went off to college. I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life. I will fight against the injustice of the past and offer my gifts to the world. I have so much to offer. I have quite a story to tell. I hope you will help me to move on with my life.
