Occasionally he'll drink. If he wins a game or his friends are visiting, Tanaka will go drinking with them. Otherwise, he doesn't really drink on his own.

He was at volleyball practice, taking a water break. Ennoshita, who was also on the team, was talking to Tanaka about a project he had for work. Tanaka decided to check his phone for a second, when he noticed he has 3 missed calls from the same number.

"Hey, do you know who this is?" Tanaka asks, showing Ennoshita the number.

"No, it looks familiar though. You should try calling them back." Ennoshita replied.

"I'm going to go do that , tell coach if I'm not back before then." Tanaka called the number back and walked outside the court.

"Hello, is this Ryunosuke, Tanaka?" A man's voice asked when he answered.

"Yes, is everything alright?" Tanaka asked.

"(Y/N) Tanaka, mentioned you as an emergency contact. Do you recognize this name?" The doctor asked.

"Y-yeah, she's my wife. Did something happen?" He asked.

"She was in a car crash several hours ago. She's asleep currently since she just went through surgery. We need you to come to the XXX Hospital in XXX. We don't have much information on her, and we'd like to have a few questioned answered as soon as possible. Are you able to come now?" The doctor adked.

"What!? Is she alright!? She's pregnant, is the baby alright!?" Tanaka ignored his question.

"Yes, (Y/N) is currently alright. We can't confirm anything about the child. The- the heartbeat was slowed for a little bit, but we've done what we can to fix this. All we can do now is wait." The doctor said.

"I'll be there as soon as I can." Tanaka quickly hung up after that. He went back into the gym, everyone was still on break.

"Hey, did you- Tanaka, did something happen?" Ennoshita frowned at the worried look on Tanaka's face.

"Tell coach I had to leave early. (Y/N)'s in the hospital." He quickly said, gathering his stuff.

"What happened to her? Is she alright?" Ennoshita asked. Most of the other teammates were looking at them now.

"I'll tell you later. Thanks Enno!" Tanaka ran off to his car.

Tanaka sat by your hospital bed, rubbing circles to the back of your hand. You had been asleep since he got there. The doctor's questions were quick. He just needed to make sure you weren't allergic to anything, and Tanaka was pretty sure he answered everything correctly.

"Mmm- 's bright." You muttered. Tanaka jolted a bit as you suddenly started talking.

"You're awake!" He spoke in his usual loud voice.

"Sh- be quiet." Your eyes fluttered open.

"Are you in any pain?" He asked, pressing your hand close to his face.

"I'm okay, Ryu. Nothing hurts." You replied, giving him a tired smile.

"Th-the baby! Is the baby alright!" You suddenly jolted up, pulling a few tubes connected to you.

"The dotor said that the baby's fine right now, don't worry. Just lay back down." He gently pushed you back into your previous laying position.

He put a hand on your stomach, you had a rather big baby bump. You placed your hand on top of his.

"Everythings alright." You said.

"Yeah, everhthings alright" Tanaka repeated giving you a reassuring smile.

The person has no chance of safely leaving. Tanaka is ready to attack. Usually he ends up getting pulled back from the fight and just giving the person a scary look.

He's heavily distraught. He's very obviously not like himself. For the first few months, he resorted to alcohol to fix his problems. Even though he knew it wasn't really working, he still drank nearly nightly. Nishinoya found out when he went out drinking with Tanaka, and he figured out from people who recognised Tanaka just how often his high school friend was drinking. Noya got him the right help he needed, with a bit of struggle.

He tries to keep it to himself when he's sad. Tanaka doesn't like putting his heavier emotions onto other people.

He can get aggressive, never physically towards you or even when you're in the room. If its a serious fight he'll take his anger out on objects around the house. He'll throw stuff at walls or on the floor and complain about the fight under his breath. If the fight wasn't serious he'll just pout a bit whether he won the argument or not.

Tanaka's pretty stern, but he's not a terrible parent. He lets his child calm down before talking to them about what they said. Usually, they've calmed down by then, and he doesn't have to do much other than make sure everything is alright.

In college a video went around campus of you doing something embarassing while drunk at a party. Somehow, it got really popular and you couldn't even go to class without getting annoying giggles, whispers that were just loud enough, and some rude comments. Tanaka started getting involved when he noticed you not going to your usual 8am class, and then he saw the video. He walked you around campus to your classes and glared at anyone who even gave you a slightly mocking look. Everything subsided eventually, and Tanaka stopped having to sprint through busy halls to get to your classes as they ended.

He spoils you until you're better again. He helps you get everywhere, does everything he can for you, and buys you a lot of food and cute stuffed animals. You have to remind him that you can take care of yourself, which disappoints him a little bit.

Hurting his friends and family hurts him. Its usually on accident, like when he knocked Daichi's tooth out during the game or one time he hurt Noya's feelings by jokingly calling him fat. He hates that look of hurt and betrayal on his friends faces or the sight of an injury he caused.

Skipping this because I can.

He failed one of his finals and wasn't able to play in one of his last few volleyball competitions as a 3rd year. He had to take extra lessons during the games and couldn't even support his team there. He was devastated by it, and it took awhile for you and his other teammates to cheer him up.

You two had a really really bad fight when you two moved in together after high school. You were bugging Tanaka about studying more, since your finals week was coming up. It escalated pretty quickly once Tanaka began calling you annoying and nagging while you were calling him lazy. You ended up leaving the house to spend time with a close friend.

"Fuck, I messed up." Tanaka realized after he calmed down.

He bought you flowers and basically gave you a full lecture on how he was sorry, including how he realized you were just trying to help him out and shouldn't have freaked out like he did. You forgave him quickly and also apologized for calling him lazy and yelling at him.

You were sort of stranded in America for almost a week. Your parents were moving to retire in America, so you flew there to help them move into their new condo. The day you were meant to leave becane chaotic really fast.

Your flight was later in the day, 3pm. It was the cheapest flight you could get. The first flight didn't leave until 45 minutes after it was supposed to. You weren't too worried about it. There was some bad weather and the plane was late, and you missed your connecting flight back to Tokyo.

You were stuck in an airport you weren't quite sure where, without anywhere to stay, and only knowledge of simple English. After arguing a bit to someone, you got a flight in two days to Tokyo. But other than that, you didn't have anywhere to to.

The first person you called was Tanaka.

"Hey, aren't you supposed to be in the air now? Why're you callin'?" He asked.

"I- m-missed my connecting flight. So I'm stuck in- in the airport for the next two days." You replied.

"What!? Are you serious! You couldn't get another flight sooner! Thats bullshit! Where are you even supposed to stay!" He yelled.

"Yeah, I know. I already talked to a bunch of people about this. The best I can get is on Tuesday. I don't know where I'm going to stay. The airport hotel is all booked up right now- a-and." You started breaking down on the call.

"Hey, hey, hey, it'll be alright! You can probably stay in the airport, find somewhere to sleep, do you have your luggage?" He asked.

"Mhm." You replied.

"Just keep that near you, sleep in the airport for the next few days, you'll get on a flight soon, and we'll be together soon alright? No need to panic! I know its really stressful but atleast you have a flight, right?" He tried to be reassuring.

"Yeah... Thanks Ryu. I should probably call me parents. I love you." You said, calming down as much as you could.

"Of course. Hopefully we'll be together soon. I love you too." He replied. You smiled and called your parents.

You got home just fine, luckily, and Tanaka picked you up and spun you around when you met in the airport.

It happened before you realized your crush on him, and you were only friends with Nishinoya. Noya was jokingly making fun of Tanaka, and you decided to join him. Tanaka took what you said seriously though and really wondered for the next few days if you really didn't like those things about him.

One of their tournament games got rescheduled to a few days before his finals. He was super stressed trying to spend the extra time at practice while also attempting to study and get good grades so he could play. One night, you called him to ask for some help studying, ad he just broke down on the call. You both were up until early hours of the morning trying to calm down.

He was in a subway crash. He later found it was because the brakes of the other train broke and the train kept going at its quick speed as the one Tanaka was on slowed at the next stop.

Tanaka was standing, ready to get off at the stop. Suddenly, his compartment lurched forward with a great force and he fell onto the ground.

"Damn, hopefully no one saw that." He thought and looked around the area. But everyone else seemed to have fallen, and some people weren't getting up yet.

When he noticed the train was no longer moving, he looked behind him. It was a horrifying sight. Another train had crashed into the back of the train, the people in both compartments closest to the back looked heavily injured, much worse than the few that must have past out around him.

A guy started calling an ambulence and eventually everyone was helped and got out. Tanaka was very cautious of getting on trains after that day, despite crashes being very rare.

Stupidly, the robber came in the middle of the night while you were both home. Tanaka woke up quickly at the sound of a crash, and you did to. The sound of stuff being sorted through and thrown around was what made the bald man quickly get up with a knife he kept threateningly in the bedside table. The robber was aprehended easily and the police were called quick.

You were rather embarassed by what happened at first; you fell down the stairs. At first you just awkwardly went to get up, but it unfortunately was much worse than you thought it was. Tanaka was alerted by you screaming loudly at the sight of your ankle which was not the right way and at the time you were certain you saw bone sticking out.

Tanaka immediately called an ambulence and followed the operators instructions for how to help you. Mainly it was just advice on how to calm you down. Once you reached the hospital, younhad to go into some surgery to get that put back in place.

It was 4am at the time, and he refused to leave the hopsital waiting room. He didn't get many weird looks then, at that early in the morning everyone in there was dressed in pajamas or asleep in their seat. It was in the morning when Tanaka still had to wait that he got the weird looks. People unsure of how to react to a man sitting nervously in the hospital waiting room dressed in only basketball shorts and a tank top and occassionaly muttering to himself.

You ended up being okay. Your ankle would take a while to heel and be comfortable to walk on again, but he was happy you weren't any more injured.

Tanaka spent all the time he could with you. You two did the things you both always wanted to do together, and he took you to the places you always wanted to go and see. Every night he made sure to give you some variation of a small speech he made about how much he loved you. Before you went to bed he had to give you a kiss and that need only grew stronger once you became stuck in the hospital.

While you two couldn't go out and do things anymore, he'd tell you all about the day and make you feel like you had been there the whole time. Tanaka lets you talk and ramble on about whatever you wanted for however long you could talk and listens to every second of it. And still, everyday he had to leave after visiting hours he'd give you his speech about loving you and gave you a kiss.

Your final days were spent with a smile and Tanaka was there by your side the whole time. He wouldn't let you be scared as you died, and he was sure you left the world with a smile on your face.

Your new boss was super unfair with you. Unfair was a bit of a tame term when referring to him in your head. He was completely sexist. His views were so old fashioned that you truly questioned if he was a time traveler from the past. He'd act perplexed that many of the female staff members, who like yourself were barely even in their 30s, didn't have children. He would give the women less work, cut some people's hours, and basically surrounded himself with the male employees..

He was most unfair to you specfically on one of the first few days he became your boss. You had been asking for a raise for a long time, and your former boss had been making it clear you were going to get it and that the new boss would work through the process with you. However, you were less than thrilled when he said you wouldn't actually be getting it. You had never yelled at one if your bosses before until then, absolutely livid at the fact you weren't getting a raise that your old boss confirmed that you deserved and would get.

You nearly got fired, and Tanaka heard all about it. He wanted to murder that boss of yours but decided against commiting any legal activities and just tried to comfort you instead.

He doesn't let it out directly, but he sort of yells like he's excited except he's talking about his stress and how bad his day was. At first you didn't know whether to take him seriously or not, but soon you realized thats just how he vents and helped cheer him up a bit.

It was after they lost the game to Aoba Josai before the Spring Tournaments. It devastated the whole team obviously. You went to go comfort Tanaka since you had watched the whole game, but ended up comforting Tanaka, Noya, and Hinata instead. You were awkwardly in one big group hug of crying boys and that was the worst Tanaka had ever broken down infront of you before.

"Tanaka, I can't do this anymore. We need to break up." You said.

"What? Did I do something wrong what happened?" He asked.

"Its your fault." Was all you said, then your body disappeared before him. Now it was just various statements echoing around the are.

"You're never there for me."

"You always talk about yourself."

"You're too loud."

"You spend so much time playing volleyball, do you even love me?"

It kept repeating and repeating until he woke up, in his bed, you peacefully asleep beside him. Tanaka panted and sat up to look around.

"None of it could have been real, right?" He thought. But the doubt began to swirl inside him, he layed down and pulled yoyr close to him.

"I love you, (Y/N). Please, never hate me." Tanaka sadly said. You didn't wake up fully, but half-asleep you rested your head on chest and quietly mumbled a, "love you" back. That managed to make him smile a bit and eventually he was able to calm down and sleep again

He yearns to be able to fly. In games, he wants to be able to fly above the net like how Hinata talks about it. He wants to see the other side of the court from above the blockers.

He would be trying to attack zombies. He's strong but sadly not strong enough and would probably get himself killed quickly.
