You Break Up With Him

"Hey Shoyou, we need to talk." You stopped Hinata from leaning in all the way for a kiss.

"Is there something wrong?" He asked.

You two stood awkwardly in front of your house after having been on a really nice. You didn't really want to do this now. But Hinata was just about to go to Tokyo for a week, and you couldn't keep this from him any longer.

"Hinata, I know this isn't such a good time. B-but I think we- we should break up." You nervously said.

"I-is it because of something I did? I c-can fix whatever is, I promise! Whats going w-wrong?" Hinata pleaded.

"I-It's not you. I just don't feel like this is working out. I'm sorry Hinata, I hope we can still be friends." You said.

"O-of course, I'll see you around." Hinata sadly walked his way towards your house. You felt guilty for the sad expression you saw on his face, but didn't take back your decision

"Whats wrong with you?" Kageyama glared at Hinata after the boy had once again completely missed receiving another ball.

"Sorry, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night!" Hinata apologized.

Suga gave his kouhai a gentle pat on the back, "Try and get a bit more sleep tonight."

"Yeah..." Hinata trailed off, before beginning his run up the hill for loosing the set.

Suga watched Hinata carefully, his expression wasn't as happy, and his eyes lost their usual shimmer. While Hinata clearly hadn't slept that night, Suga could tell there was something more going on, and it definitely wasn't related to the game. After the club, Suga confronted the younger player about it.

"Hinata-kun, did something happen? You seemed very sad during practice today." Suga said.

"It was nothing, Suga-senpai. I didn't get a lot of sleep, I was too excited for practice!" Hinata replied.

"Hinata, something else clearly happened. You can tell me if you need to. It doesn't seem like you've talked to anyone about it, and it's eating you up." Suga explained.

Hinata's smile dropped slightly, "It's nothing senpai. You should be going home to do your homework!"

"Your girlfriend wasn't there today, Hinata." Suga pointed out. Hinata visibly tensed at that.

"I didn't see her talking to you in the halls today either? Did something happen with your girlfriend? Did you two get into a fight? That happens to a lot of couples but don't worey you two will make up eventually." Suga pushed what he had thought had happened. He didn't want to force Hinata to tell him anything, but it seemed like the only thing that could work.

"We didn't f-fight. We- we broke up." Hinata admitted, his voice trembled as he spoke.

"Oh, I'm sorry for bringing it up. I thought you two had just had a fight!" Suga felt incredibly bad seeing how sad the usually happy middle blocker looked.

"I-it's okay." Hinata was already starting to cry.

"Its alright Hinata! Everything will be fine soon, okay?" Suga comforted, pulling the smaller boy into a hug.

"Thank you Suga-senpai." Hinata sniffled.

"Hey Tobio, do you want to go out to the park this weekend? We can practice volleyball there!" You asked your blueberry boyfriend.

"No, I have practice thie weekend." He replied. You were a bit annoyed by his response.

"Again? You have no time at all this weekend to spend time with me. You definitely don't have volleyball practice all day for two days." You expressed your anger.

"Well I have stuff to do, I can't waste all my time with you. Volleyball comes first." He replied.

You felt hurt, very hurt by his words. Kageyama had always cared for volleyball while you were with him. But for the majority of your relationship he had made time for you. After the Karasuno team had made it to Nationals, Kageyama had spent all his time practicing. You understand his reasons for wanting to practice more and how importabt volleyball and winning is to him. But, he no longer even attempted to make time for you.

"If volleyball is so important then maybe we should just break up. Its clear you don't care about me anymore." You said, feeling tears in the corners of your eyes.

"Fine, if it stops you from annoying me." He replied, walking off.

You let the tears come down your face while trying to muffle your sobs with your hand. You didn't feel like like looking back as you walked forward to go home. It didn't take you long to run into someone since you weren't looking where you were going.

"(L/N)-chan, are you alright?" You heard from the person you ran into.

It was Suga, but Daichi and Asahi were standing with him. The three looked at you with concerned faces.

"I-I'm fine. I need to go." You said, brushing past them.

"Maybe we should ask Kageyama-kun. They're dating, I believe." Asahi suggested.

"Yeah." Suga said, his worried expression not leaving his face.

The three walked up to the club room, where Hinata and Kageyama were arguing as usual.

"Hey Kageyama-kun, do you know what happened to (L/N)-chan? She was crying when we saw her in the hallway." Suga asked the other setter.

Kageyama turned towards the two, with his usual expressionless face, "We broke up."

"What!?" Pretty much everyone able to hear his statement said.

"What happened and why are you acting like nothing happened!" Hinata exclaimed.

"Because its none of your business." He glared.

Despite his words Suga still asked, "Did you two get into an argument? (L/N)-chan seemed to be pretty distraut."

"She was in the way. Volleyball comes first." He repeated his words. The guys in the room were unsure with how to respond to that.

"Kageyama-kun, you shouldn't be saying that about girls esprcially (L/N)-chan. She was very supportive of you and the whole team. I know we're finally going into national competion, but you should be able to balance other things than just volleyball. I might have Takeda-sensei and Coach Ukai consider your placement as the setter for the next games." Daichi threatened.

"What!? You can't do that!" Kageyama yelled in frustration.

"I can and I will. So you better start balancing your life out before you find yourself watching the game from the sidelines." Daichi kept up his sinister expression, frightening the members in the club room.

Kageyama was left with nothing that day.

You found yourself, once again, sobbing into your hands about your boyfriend Tsukishima. It wasn't about his physical well-being, but rather about the words he's said to you. You don't know why he agreed to dating you if all he used you as was a toy. He'd rarely be kind to you, take you on dates, or do things regular couples would do. He would insult you left and right leaving your self esteem nothing but shreds. You thought that you truly loved him, but he clearly didn't love you back. So, it was clearly time for you to end this.

"Tsukki, why do you even bother anymore?" You asked him. Your voice sounded tired, like you had asked over and over again.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Us. Why do you even pretend to keep this up." You sighed.

"I don't pretend to keep up anything. You follow me like some lost puppy, its funny actually." Tsukki smirked.

You glared at him, "Well its over. I'm done. I actually had feeling for you Tsukishima. I cared about you a lot, but you didn't. And it hurt everyday when I still tried to see the positive in you and there was nothing there. What kind of game were you trying to play, huh? Was this all supposed to be just some laugh for you. You said yes just to break me down slowly? It worked, you've won. I hope you're happy. But please, never talk to me again."

You walked off on the path to your house, not even looking back to see Tsukishima's reaction. He didn't follow you or say anything. You wouldn't have been surprised if he didn't care and just walked off.

- · -

Tsukishima blocked another one of Hinata's good spikes. It made him feel a bit of pride, and as he has done before he looked back towards where you sat. But you weren't looking at him. You were instead congratulating Yamaguchi, for his amazing serve at the beginning of that last point.

After breaking up with him, you began hanging around and eventually started to date Tsukishima's childhood friend Yamaguchi. It made him feel unusually disappointed. You weren't congratulating him like you used to or looking at him when he played. He would walk home alone when Yamaguchi left with you, and he would no longer hear you cheering for him at games.

Tsukishima realized that he took something amazing for granted.

You only started dating Tadashi two months ago, but something already didn't feel right to you. It definitely wasn't him. He was so sweet, practically spoiling you with his affection and spending all his available time with you. So, you couldn't understand why you weren't happy. Then you started thinking more, which brought you to a resolution that made you feel terribly guilty and confused.

It was after the school day ended, Tsukki, Yama, and you were walking home. After Tsukishima left to his house, Yamaguchi awkwardly wrapped an arm around you. It took him a lot of courage to do that stuff in public, but he found that courage lost when you brushed him away.

"Tada, we need to talk." You said, stopping at the stairs up to your front door.

"Y-yeah?" He stuttered.

Yamaguchi felt his heart drop; you were going to break up with him. He tried to think of what he did wrong what he didn't do for you and the times he should have been there. It had only been two months, but Yamaguchi truly loved you.

"Sorry, I made that sound so morbid. But I wanted to come clean to you about something I've been thinking about, and I shouldn't be hiding it from you." You said.

His fear settled a bit but was still present, "What is it?" You led him inside your house, closing the door behind you, and began to talk.

"I was thinking lately that there was something wrong b-but clearly not you. You've been amazing to me, and you're so kind. So, thats why I feel so guilty about doing this, but I shouldn't because the truth is important." You started. Yamaguchi nodded, listening carefully.

"I think I'm gay. Well, I like girls. I realized no relationship I've been in with a guy has been fulfilling to me, so I think I'm better off being with a girl than breaking the hearts' of more guys." You said.

Yamaguchi was quiet for a bit longer than he meant to be. He didn't know what to say to you really. He was happy and wanted to support you, but he didn't know if that was weird since you just broke up with him.

"Th-that's great! W-well, you know what I mean. I'm glad that you found yourself, and that you'll know how to be happy." Yamaguchi smiled.

Your face brigtened up at his response, "Thank you for understanding, Yama! I hope we can still be friends even after this." You said.

"O-of course! I'll see you around I guess." Yamaguchi awkwardly opened the door.

"I'll see you tomorrow Yama." You smiled, waving as he walked home a few houses down.

Yamaguchi waved back, smiling towards you until you went inside. Once you were gone, his smile dropped. He knew it wasn't your fault, but being broken up with still hurt.

You frowned as you had been trying to leave for the past 10 minutes, but your boyfriend was talking to a bunch of girls who crowded around him. This was starting to unfortunately become normal. Everyday he would be stuck talking to girls after volleyball while you tried to walk home with him. You didn't feel like waiting today, so you just started walking home. Oikawa didn't even notice you left since a few minutes after you got home he texted you to ask where you were.

Where are u?

Home

I left

Why

We were yoing to walk home together

*going

You were flirting aith those girls forever

I have stoff to do

I wasnt flirting

Thats all you do when you talk to them. Its annoying

Suddenly Oikawa started calling you, so of course you answered.

"(Y/N)-chan, you need to talk to me when you get upset like this! I don't know how to help you when we don't communicate!" Oikawa said in a whining tone into the phone.

You were infuriated with his words, "Seriously, you're saying I don't talk to you? Maybe you would have seen the many times I try to talk to you if you weren't always with those girls. I've told you myself countless times that I don't like when you talk to them. They're clearly all after you. and you don't even make an atempt to tell them you have a girlfriend!" You said.

"Those girls don't mean anything to me. I just talk-" He was saying.

"Everytime! Everytime Tooru! I tell you this and you always tell me that they don't mean anything, you just talk with them to be nice. I've told you how I feel when you talk to them for so long. You didn't even notice I left today thats how much they 'didn't mean to you'. I'm tired of this." You began to raise your voice a bit more.

"Maybe if you were a more interesting person I'd be talking to them less. You don't even let me have a social life when you're around. You get mad when I talk to any girls, when I spend too much time at volleyball, even when I talk to Iwaizumi you get impatient. You're not my first priority, (Y/N). I want my own life sometimes, away from you." Oikawa replied, his voice also raising. Tears began streaming down your face as he spoke.

"Don't fucking blame this on me, Oikawa. You know I support everything you do with volleyball. I'm there every fucking practice, every fucking game. It doesn't matter if I'm out past midnight to support you guys. I was there. I did nothing to hold you back from a social life. I barely even bothered you around other people and you claim I get mad when you're at practice too long or when you talk to other people. Bullshit, Oikawa. Bull. Shit." Your voice cracked as you spoke.

"I didn't know if I was sure about this until now, but I sure as hell am. Oikawa, we're done. If I disrupt your life so much then I'll gladly get out of it, and please get out of mine." You said.

Oikawa's eyes widened. You two had small fights before, but they were usually resolved during the time of the fight. Never once had you threated to break up with him or even actually broke up with him. He knew this was definitely serious.

"Wait, (Y/N)-" You hung up on him as he tried to speak. He immediately went to text you.

(Y/N) you can't be serious

Please

What i said was harsh I didnt mean to get mad at you like that

I've hust been upset lately because of all the stress from school and volleyball

You can't bee serious (Y/N)

I am Oikawa, and I'm not changing my mind either. I'll bring your things over fo your place this weekend. Please dont try to chnge anything either.

Oikawa began to feel tears falling down his face. He couldn't believe you really broke up with him. That night, you both went to bed unhappy.

- · -

The next morning, Oikawa had early morning practice. Everyone on the team could tell something was wrong, especially since he didn't make as many snarky comments as usual.

"Hey Oikawa, are you alright?" Makki asked the setter first.

"I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?" He replied, giving a clearly fake smile.

"Literally everything about this practice." Makki said.

"(L/N) wasn't there today either. Are you just trying less because she's not watching you?" Iwaizumi smirked.

"Its nothing." Oikawa turned back to face the wall as he changed.

Iwaizumi looked curiously at him for a second before also changing into his uniform. Only after everyone left was when he confronted his friend about it.

"What happened." Iwaizumi asked, but said more like a statement.

"Nothing happened Iwa-chan. Don't worry about it~" Oikawa shook his head.

"Something happened, I'm not stupid." Iwaizumi stopped Oikawa from continuing forward.

"Nothing happened, I'm just tired. I'll bring it all for the afternoon practice." Oikawa tried to reassure the other to leave him alone.

Iwaizumi looked at him carefully. There were small purple bags under his usually flawless his eyes. That combined with him ignoring Iwaizumi's comment about Oikawa's! girlfriend, he guessed it was something about you.

"What happened with (Y/N)?" He asked.

"Why would anything have happened with (Y/N)?" Oikawa's acting skills began to falter.

"She wasn't at practice. She's always been at practice since junior high, and you avoided any mention of her. Just tell me what happened." Iwaizumi explained, sounding frustrated.

There was a shadow over the brunette's eyes as he looked down at the ground. Even though Iwa had seen it multiple times before, it still surprised him when Oikawa began to cry. Tears came down his face, and he immediately reached his hands up to wipe his face.

"I went to far. Sh-she broke up with me, and I- I said she got i-in my way. She never did, I loved her. Wh-why did I mess up s-so bad." Oikawa leaned against a nearby wall.

Iwaizumi, who was always unsure of what to do, just leaned on the wall next to him. He rubbed his back in a comforting manor letting the other cry into his hands until they had to go to class.
