TW: There is a small mention of blood and gore. Theres a warning before it first appears.

Also, this is a shitty Mafia AU. If you don't like bad AUs, don't read this.

Hinata walked down the sidewalk, trying to casually check if anyone was following him. It was late, no one was on the streets besides the occasional shady guy and homeless person. Hinata looked at the directions he was given. They were still confusing and pretty vague.

"This should be the street." He mumbled, walking up to the crosswalk.

A car turned and drove down the dark road. Hinata rarely left the house at night, but this walk alone made him realize how many street lights in the area were broken. He looked behind him once more as he waited for the crossing signal. There was no one behind him for as far as he could see. The signs light flashed, allowing him to cross the street and quickly step into the alleyway between the first and second buildings. He waited for a second in the dark before continuing further down the alley. Hinata came to a point where he could continue straight or go right. He walked forward until the next spot where he turned right. Then he made it towards a building with a door that read, "Sawamura Book Store".

Hinata knocked on the door, his hand shaking in both nervousness and excitement. He did the special knock pattern he practically memorized after how many times he had looked at the message. It was two knocks, then one, then three, then one again.

The door made a loud "click" sound as it was unlocked. The heavy door was then opened by a skinny looking guy with silver hair. He was quickly brought in before the multiple locks were once again placed on the door by the small guy.

"Hinata right?" The guy asked.

"Yeah." Hinata nodded.

"I'm Sugawara, you can call me Suga! I'm the one that messaged you the direcrions and other information about joining!" Suga greeted happily. Hinata was a bit taken aback by his introduction to the mafia, a friendly smile and polite introduction.

"Suga-san, you need to be scary when you greet newcomers." Someone said.

"Yeah, let them know we mean business!" Another guy said.

Hinata looked towards the guys talking. They were glaring at him and were very scary looking. Hinata cowered slightly at the sight of them.

"Just ignore those two. They do that to everyone. I'll show you to Sawamura-san's office. Theres a few other newbies there too." Suga winked, leading Hinata around to an ominous door.

"Good luck!" He smiled, closing the door behind the orange haired kid. Hinata jumped at the sound of the big door slamming behind him. The three other guys in the room looked towards him, it didn't seem like Sawamura was there yet.

"Uh— h-hi?" Hinata asked.

A green haired guy sitting at the couch seemed to want to say hi back, but he didn't when the blonde beside him muttered something.

"That guy shouldn't be here." He heard the third person in the room say to himself. He had flat black hair that made his head look like a bowling ball.

"Hey, I have every right to be here as you do!" Hinata yelled at the guy.

"I wasn't talking to you." He replied, glaring at Hinata with deadly eyes. It sent a shiver down Hinata's spine, but he stood his ground.

"Then don't talk about people you don't know unless you want to start something!" Hinata yelled.

"Boys, don't go starting fights already. We aren't about that here." Sawamura had suddenly entered the room.

The four stood up and went over to the desk where Sawamura sat. Hinata noted how he sort of sounded like a dad.

"Sorry Sawamura-san." The two apologized. The blonde beside them smirked.

"So, do you four know why you're here?" Sawamura asked. They looked at eachother to see if the others knew, but no one was quite sure.

He chuckled, "Of course you don't! Everyone here has already proven they're a useful part of our operations. Currently our group is in a bit of scuffle with a nearby group named Aoba Josai. We need as much help as we can get, so we'll have you four quickly helping us."

"Tsukishima, you're going to be keeping lookout. Making sure our rivals don't try anything. Yamaguchi, you'll be Sugawara-san. You met him when you came in, so you'll be talking to him about your jobs. Kageyama, you'll be with our body guards. You can stay here to talk to me. And Hinata-kun, you'll meet Nishinoya. He's waiting outside." He explained to the four.

"Thank you, Sawamura-san!" Hinata said loudly, as the other two just politely bowed.

Hinata's eyes were glowing as he left the room. It caught Kageyama's attention. He blushed at the sight but quickly ignored it.

"What the fuck is wrong with me. That dumbass still shouldn't be here. He's running around like a child. How old is he?" Kageyama told himself while watching the other guys leave.

"Kageyama-kun, lets talk more about what you'll be doing." Sawamura brought Kageyama's attention back to him.

It had been a few weeks since Hinata had officially joined the group, Karasuno. Hinata and Nishinoya worked more dangerous jobs. They directly worked trying to get information from rival groups. From what Nishinoya explained to him, if it was required they would go undercover as new members of those groups.

After he started working with Nishinoya, he didn't see Tsukishima or Yamaguchi much. The only other new member he saw was Kageyama, who worked a lot with Nishinoya's friend Tanaka. Hinata and Kageyama would argue a lot, usually about stupid things, but others saw the blush on the guys' face and love in their eyes as they talked to eachother.

Tonight, they were having a big meeting together to make a plan for what was going to happen regarding Aoba Josai. There were going to be people there from other groups they were connected with. Hinata was sitting at a chair around a table that looked like one in a business office. He tried to sit proffessional, like a business man. But his bouncing legs and glowing eyes made him look like a toddler who stumbled into the wrong place.

"Calm down, man. You'll make me look bad if you act like some highschooler." Nishinoya elbowed the ginger.

"Sorry, Nishinoya-san." Hinata apologized, trying to stop his constant movement.

Soon later, a group of people stepped into the room. Guys wearing black and red, and another group wearing black and gold. It was pretty similar to the Karasuno's black and orange they wore. Everyone walked in looked intimidating or tall. It made Hinata sweat a bit.

"Welcome everyone. It's fun to have us all in the same place sometimes." Daichi smiled, standing at the head of the table.

"Just get to business Daichi, we're dealing with serious stuff here." A guy with messy hair from the red group said.

"That means nothing from you, Kuroo." Daichi rolled his eyes.

"So, as everyone knows we're having serious issues with Aoba Josai. We need to start acting quick and finding out what we're going to do. Since we've already heard from Nekoma, what have you got at Fukurodani." Daichi looked towards the smaller group at the end of the table.

A guy with black hair stood up, "We think it would be easiest to find out information by getting in directly. The only way to get in is through the leader, which didn't go well when we tried to find that out." The guy explained, gesturing to the member beside him with a broken arm. The guy looked a lot like an owl, and he nervously scratched the back of his neck once all eyes were on him.

"Ha, Kenma-kun here found some great stuff. Why don't you share it with everyone?" The messy haired guy, Kuroo, asked the guy beside him.

"Isn't that your job?" Kenma replied quietly.

"Well, I'll say it then. The leader of that group is a guy named Oikawa Tooru. We don't know much about him other than his name..." Kuroo's words became background noise to Hinata as he thought.

"Oikawa Tooru... I know that name." Hinata thought.

There might have been an audible pop in Hinata's brain as he actually came up with an idea, "I know that guy!" Kuroo looked towards Hinata, while all other members eyes were on him.

"Sorry." He muttered, sitting back down.

"Continue with what you're saying, Hinata. You know Oikawa?" Daichi faced Hinata. Hinata's face went entirely red as all eyes were on him.

"H-h-h-he's my next door neighbor." Hinata said, unsure of what else to say about Oikawa. They were friends, but he hadn't know anything about Oikawa being some mob boss.

"Has he ever told you anything about Aoba Josai?" Daichi asked.

"No— well, he talked a lot about his 'business' which I guess meant his group. All he said was that it was really dangerous and not something I should deal with." Hinata explained.

"You two are close then?" Daichi asked. Hinata only nodded at that point.

"Well, back to what Akaashi was saying. It would be easiest to find information by getting it from the inside. Hinata, you might be able to help us with that." Daichi continued with his plan. Hinata didn't need to speak for the rest of the time, but his eyes went back to sparkling knowing that he was able to help.

Later that night the final plan was decided. Hinata was going to try and get information out of Oikawa and get into Aoba Josai. The ginger looked like he was in an earthquake with how much he was shaking and how excited he was with the final plans. But, Kageyama had a noticeable face of worry for the other guy.

Everything was ready for Hinata. Kageyama and Tanaka were outside his apartment building, with others spread around incase anything were to go wrong.

Before Hinata had gone inside Kageyama stopped him to say, "Be careful, don't go getting yourself killed." There was a small blush on both their faces. Kageyama mostly looked away to hide it.

"Y-you too." Hinata replied, walking into his building.

He acted like he was coming home from any normal day at work. He made it up to his floor, walked into his apartment, then nervously went to Oikawa's.

"It's like any other day. Any other day." Hinata thought to himself, ringing the doorbell.

Oikawa quickly answered, "Chibi-chan, I haven't seen you in awhile!"

"Work has been too busy. I don't wanna' be an adult anymore!" Hinata whined in his usual childish manner.

"You could probably still pass as a highschooler with how short you are." Oikawa joked, pinching Hinata's cheeks.

"Ow! Oikawa-san!" Hinata tried to move away from him.

"So, what did you come here to talk about, Chibi-chan?" Oikawa asked.

"Well— lets go inside. I don't want anyone to hear." Hinata sort of pushed Oikawa into his apartment.

Oikawa quirked an eyebrow as the sat down on his couch, "What's so secret that you have to push into my own home to tell me?"

"Hey, you do the same to me!" Hinata whined. He started to sweat nervously again. He didn't want to mess this up for everyone involved, especially since it was hard to even get this job in the first with how new he was.

"I was looking into something lately. A-and I know you said not to get into dangerous stuff. But that gang on the news a lot, Aoba Josai. I've been seeing a lot of stuff about it and, I think its really cool!" Hinata said.

"Oh, chibi-chan actually doing research. How surprising." Oikawa joked, but his eyes showed otherwise.

"Hey, I'm not that stupid! I thought I could share this with you since— I don't know other people would probably get scared if they found out I was interested in the mafia." Hinata muttered.

"No one gets scared of you, Hinata. Even if you were in the mafia." Oikawa taunted.

"Hey, I could be scary in the mafia! I'm a super quiet ninja, they wouldn't even know I'm coming!" Hinata said, making Oikawa chuckle.

"Hey Hinata. I need to show you something. Put your jacket on." Oikawa stood up. Hinata played along, this could be his chance.

"Outside? What do you need to show me out there?" He asked, following the brunette.

"You'll see." Was his response as they left the apartment building.

"You're always so secretive!" Hinata whined, following Oikawa mostly silently.

Hinata quickly glanced to all the places he knew people were placed. Oikawa led him far from the apartment building taking fast turns, and eventually ended up by an alleyway.

"You see that, Hinata-kun? What is it?" Oikawa asked, pointing to something further in the dark.

Hinata took a step forward but still saw nothing, "I don't see any-"

Oikawa kicked his back hard, sending him to ground. He dragged Hinata down the alley even further.

"Oikawa-san! What's going on? Let me go!" Hinata struggled a bit as Oikawa pulled on the back of his shirt collar.

"Quit playing dumb." Oikawa threw him on the ground. A gun was now pointed in his face.

"Playing dumb? W-why do have a gun!?" Hinata kept trying to play along, panicking more when he didn't see anyone around to help him.

"Did they loose me? Is this supposed to be apart of it?" Hinata thought. He tried to get up only to be kicked right back down.

"You need to be more careful when you go to those Karasuno meetings. I've seen you talking to Sawamura. I know exactly why you're talking to me about this." Oikawa continued. Hinata stuttered out nonsense, there was nothing he could respond with anymore.

Oikawa chuckled again, it was much more dark and sinister this time, "I've got you, and I'm gonna' leave your dead body here for those idiots to find! Any last words chibi-chan?"

"Please don't do this Oikawa-san." Hinata shook his head, tears pricked the corners of his eyes.

"I'm sorry, Hinata. But you decided to get in my way." Oikawa went down to Hinata's level.

🚧 Blood Warning 🚧

Hinata kicked the gun in Oikawa's hand. His grip was surprisingly weak, causing him to drop it. Hinata tried to grab it before Oikawa could, even though he knew barely anything about using guns. They struggled for the weapon, Oikawa pulling the trigger multiple times while doing so. He shot Hinata in the shoulder and thigh in the process. It was loud enough to alert some people who's feint voice said, "What was that?"

"Shit." Oikawa muttered, then ran off down a connecting alley. Hinata groaned, his shoulder hurt badly, and he was bleeding a lot onto the concrete

He raised him self up with the weight on his left leg, and his hand firmly pressed to the wound on his arm. Blood soaked through his pants leaving a dark stain that continued to spread. Meanwhile, the blood from his arm felt thick and sort of stuck to the hand pressed against it.

"Gah— I messed up. They're never gonna' let me do anything now." That was all Hinata managed to think of despite the fact he's bleeding out.

"Hey, anyone out th— oh my, are you a-alright!" A girl said from the sidewalk. She ran quickly over to Hinata and looked at his wounds frantically.

"I-I'm going to call an ambulence alright! Pl-please sit down sir!" She said, shaking a lot as she got her phone out and dialed medical services.

"Okay." He said, leaning himself against the wall nearby.

The girl nervously talked on the phone, asking Hinata questions as the operator directed. Soon enough, Hinata was in an ambulence to the hospital. Meanwhile, Kageyama and the other bodyguards were questioning what happened to the orange haired man.

"Where did they go?" Kageyama asked the Nekoma leader, Kuroo.

"I couldn't get close enough, and I lost them. But, he should've called if anything went wrong. So, its safe to say he got in." Kuroo said.

"Who says they didn't take his phone and kill him?" Kageyama asked angrily.

"Kageyama-kun, that job is dangerous, but it's rare that anyone gets hurt or killed this quickly. Hinata has only been with Karasuno for a few weeks, Oikawa couldn't have already figured out he's involved." Kuroo rolled his eyes. Oh how wrong he was.

"Lets just go back. We'll find out what happened when he comes back." Tanaka pushed Kageyama forward back to the hide out.

As much as Kageyama was opposed to it, he didn't want to argue with the others. He could only hope that Hinata was alright.

Hinata woke up in the hospital, bright lights shining down on him. Curtains on eiter side of him made it so he couldn't see the people beside him. There was only an empty bed across from him. He didn't quite remember when he fell asleep, but his arm and leg felt sore.

"Good morning, sir. How are feeling?" A male nurse asked him kindly.

"My arm and leg hurt a bit, and I'm hungry." He replied.

"Your lunch should be here soon. Your leg and arm will hurt for a little bit. You had to have surgey on your arm because the bullet slightly damaged a major vein. But, your arm should still be functional. Unfortunately the young lady that found you didn't know your name, and we couldn't find your description in any of pur records. So, I'll need to ask some questions. That was a lot to wake up to, I can repeat anything if you need it." The nurse explained.

"I'm fine, I can answer your questions." Hinata sat up a little bit.

"First I just need your name, age, and birthday." The nurse said, pulling out a clipboard.

"I'm Hinata Shoyou, I'm 25, and my birthday is June 21st, 1994." He replied.

"Great! Would you mind telling me how you got injured? We don't seem to have much info on that either." The nurse asked.

"I— I was walking home from work and this guy just pulled me into the alley and threatened to shoot me. I think I got the gun out of his hands but he managed to shoot me then run off." Hinata lied on the spot.

"I'm very sorry this happened Hinata-san. I'll be back with your lunch in a minute now." He smiled at Hinata.

"Uh— do you know where my phone is?" He asked.

"Oh its right there. I'm supposed to tell you to go to the phone area to make calls, but since you're in no position to walk yet please just be quiet if you are." The nurse winked and walked off.

Hinata quickly got out his phone and called Suga's number. He was supposed to call Kuroo if something went wrong, but this was a bit beyond that mission at this point. His phone showed it was 11am on--

"It's been two days!" Hinata realized. He didn't think he would've managed to not remember two days, but maybe he was on some strong pain meds. He quickly called Suga.

"Hinata! Its been two days where the hell are you? Some of the members were starting to think you're some type of traitor!" Suga answered the phone sounding like a mother.

"I'm in the hospital." Hinata simply replied.

"What!?" The other people in the room probably heard how loud that one was.

"Yo Suga, what happened?" Tanaka popped into the room, having heard Suga's loud yell.

"What hospital is it?" Suga ignored him.

"Uh— (Name) Hospital." He slowly spelled it out, looking at a paper on the table beside him.

"I'll get some people to come with me, its not that from us right now. What happened?" Suga asked.

"I-I messed up. Oikawa found out, and I ruined everything. I'm really sorry I messed it up! He didn't act like he knew, I thought it was all apart of it! I'm sorry!" Hinata began to ramble.
