[Agito's POV]
Who would of thought two months was so short? Well, to me the time flew by with Yoruichi training me both zanjutsu and close combat. Not to mention teaching Byakuya how to be honorable through sacrifice. I do admit though, sometimes I've been a bit ... cruel, if not downright murderous towards Byakuya but they're for a good reason! Byakuya just keeps on bringing his pride even if I keep beating it down till it's nothing but dust!
So today is the first day of the Shinigami Academy. There are two main schools. One for the extraordinary such as the noble houses or descendants of great past Shinigami. Rue and I were enrolled in the regular course since we come from Dead Man's alley as I like to call it. They gave us student uniforms. Me blue and white, Rue red and white.
"Do you think we'll be welcomed Agito?" I looked at Rue and sighed.
"I honestly have no idea what today is going to bring us. Just keep your mind sharp so I don't have to kick anyone's ass."
"What's that I hear about kicking someone's ass?" I turned to look at the voice. Byakuya stood there with a hand on the handle of his katana, as if he was already a Shinigami.
"Good morning Byakuya-san. Is this your first time being in the Academy?"
"Morning Rue. Yes, it's my first time but I've been training in a pre-Academy course offered to nobilty since I was born." He stuck his nose in the air in pride and I couldn't help the temptation of smugging it.
"You went to a Shinigami preschool?" His eye twitched in annoyance.
"I'll make you pay for that insult! When I'm through with you Agito, I'll-" I turned to Rue.
"Do you hear that sound? It sounds like an annoying insect," I say to her. She giggled while Byakuya went into a blind rage. When the Academy was in sight, we all quieted down. To tell you the truth, I wasn't nervous. Why should I be? I don't plan to be making friends while I'm here. I plan only to learn and train. I felt someone grab the edge of my uniform and I looked back at Rue. She was a bit paler than before and she also had a straight poker face.

"Smile Rue-chan. You're much more prettier if you smile," I whisper to her and she gave me an effort which flopped. I shrugged and said, "Good enough." She just giggled. Byakuya had already went inside so I just went directly to the class in which we had to go.
There was about fifty other students here, milling about, talking amongst each other, and already claiming seats. Our arrival didn't even raise a few eyebrows. I stayed to the wall before maki my way to the middle where the students aren't given attention by the teacher. I sat down in a desk and Rue beside me. I nudged Rue and she nodded towards me.
"Sure Agito. I'll talk for you when you're in front of everyone." We stayed silent after that, just watching. If you're wondering why I set Rue the task of talking for me it's because I don't want to offend the wrong people. I already know my tongue is sharper than a two-edged sword but in this situation, it's not an achievement, it's a burden.
"Well look who it is! The coward who stole three of my followers!" Rue looked at them but I didn't even turn.
"Hey! Look at me when I'm talking to you punk! Don't you remember me? I bet you're shaking in your boots! Why you should just get out of here and-"
"Who are you?" Rue asked, tone sharper than she had even spoken before, trying to impersonate me. I only heard the guy sputtering.
"W-Who are you?! You look like that guy Agito but more ... girly. Ha! Did you change your gender Agito?! I would too if I was ashamed-"
"My name is Rue. I'm Agito's twin sister. Please refrain yourself from speaking fowl language. It's unsightly for a future Shinigami to speak bad about a comrade like that," Rue said using a whole bunch of big words. Rue's strange like that. While I use my words to automatically cut someone down, she uses her words to surprise people, to put them off guard.
"Agito will never be my comrade. He's just a cocky bastard and as arrogant as swine!"
"If you don't shut the fuck up, Agito will do it for you. Preferably with a broken jaw." I smirked inwardly, a bit proud that my sister knew me so well.

The door swung open and a man and a woman stepped through. The man was probably in his early thirties by living years. He had blazing red hair that spiked upward like a porcupine. There was a large scar that went from right to left across his face, fortunately not taking out an eye. The woman beside him was in her early twenties by human years. She had long purple hair in a set of three braids. She wore a white cowl along with her black Shinigami uniform but nothing about her face made her unique like the man.
"Let's start with the formalities. My name to you is Ukuru-sensei. This is Kazunari-sensei, my teacher assistant. You all were sworn in to protect souls and Soul Society from any and all threats that rise up. In this Academy, we will train you in zanjutsu, Kido and Hado spells, and the history of Soul Society. We expect you all to be diligent in your studies for the four years you will be training here. If anyone of you fails a class by the end of the year, you will be sent away, your vow null and void." There was shocked gasp going around the room but that was quieted when the woman raised her hand to silence them.
"Being a Shinigami is no walk in the park. Only the best of the best are admitted into Companies in which the taichou choose you. Don't disappoint us," the woman said sternly. The man nodded his head before walking towards the exit door.
"Let's go on a tour of the Academy. One act of unruly behavior and you will be punished," the man threatened. I stood up along with Rue and walked the the door. The woman instantly swooped down and clutched my shoulder. I glared at her hand as her manicured fingers gripped my shoulder.
"Why is your uniform slightly bigger than you? That is nothing but a shame to wear the academies uniform with such laziness. I'm afraid I'll have to-"
"Ma'am, if you don't mind taking off your hand before we report you for sexual harassment," Rue said sweetly. Immediately her hand was off me and over her heart in an exaggerated pose.
"Why I never! Your kind of people will always-"
"Ma'am, say another word and I'll file you for offending more than thirty people in this class." Rue's eyes tinted dark. Already, there was about ten witnesses behind us, all of them glaring at the woman. She nervously stepped back before turning around swiftly and following after the male teacher. I put a hand on her shoulder and whispered in Rue's ear,
"Keep an eye out for any behaviour she shows to any of the slum dogs. I want her ripped to shreds by our jaws." I grinned sadistically. Rue just nodded and we followed everyone out the door.
To say the tour was boring is an underestimate. It was so boring, I would rather be in a graveyard than here. The male teacher stated what classes were which while the woman kept piping up about it's history about everything. The only interesting thing was when we passed by the open air training area where Byakuya and his class were already out with kendo swords, testing each others skill. We stopped to study them as the woman teacher preached about nobility.
Rue and I watched Byakuya. He was easily beating everyone of his classmates and seemed sort of unsatisfied. When he finally noticed our class, he scanned everyone before falling on us. He smirked and yelled,
"Hey Agito! Get your butt down here and give me a challenge!" I smirked before dashing forward, already pumped to fight.
"Wait a minute! Stay with the class! You can't-"
"Will you shut up woman?! Can't you see that the heir to the Kuchiki nobel house has ordered Agito to fight him?" Gotta love how Rue can twist words against the woman. Byakuya took a stance and I took mine, already raising my reaitsu level to fight.
"Your challenge today is to cut at least one strand of hair before the female teacher starts screeching again," I say so only he could hear. He nodded and our spar began.

Valor and Violence
Valor and Violence is a series of short stories following different, yet all equally colourful, characters set in the same world. Birth of a Legend, the first short, follows Captain Erskine Erwell, a newly promoted Captain in the Calandorian Royal Navy, charged with protecting his people from all who would do them harm. Great news for the Calandorian citizens, bad news for the Skjar reavers that ravage the shores in search of slaves. But when a small reaver fleet slips the net and escapes to the southern jungles of Marduk, Erwell must fight a war on two fronts; one against the raiders, and a far more difficult war against the hostile landscape. If he can't find allies in this strange land, he may end up being the one in need of saving. The first part of the second short story will be uploaded on Saturday, the 11th of June, following Ferez Ahud, an aspiring young battlemage charged with the unsavoury job of 'terminating' a rogue member of his college. But how this nobody of a mage became a fugitive remains a mystery, and when the answer is discovered, the tables are turned and the hunter becomes the prey. I'll be uploading chapters of more in-universe short stories each week or as close to, work permitting. Content Guidelines: course language and violence

Everywhere else the constant threat of a lightning swift Viking incursion loomed over the land.Growing up in this lawless world is a displaced Daynin McKinnon, heir to an ancient familial keep on the island of Rhum. He and his grandfather Ean scratch out a living amongst the Saxons, careful never to divulge their clan heritage. Little does Kruzurk know that in so doing, he will launch young Daynin, himself and others on a vast, dangerous quest that no one could have foreseen. *****One Hollywood producer has dubbed this three book fantasy epic from Jon Baxley as, "BRAVEHEART meets THE LORD OF THE RINGS." Real places, people and events flesh out this fast moving, multi-faceted semi-historical series but fear not fantasy readers. There's more than enough of the magical, mystical mayhem you have come to expect from great fantasy.
