《4 Letters Long [OHSHC]》01| Akane

I thought it would be a normal school day.
I was walking absentmindedly on the sidewalk, heading to my school, Kunugigaoka High with my dear younger brother, Yoichirou, when my sharp hearing picked up a car screech-- the sound of reckless driving. The instant it started to bring back memories, I shot them down and immediately took action.
I caught sight of the car swerving around the corner, speeding to the intersection my brother and I were very-- dangerously-- close to.
"Go, run. As far away from the intersection as you can." I told my brother. He responded in an instant and sprinted-- being a healthy nine-year-old and done track, I didn't have to worry as much as I should have. Yoichirou ran fast, passing the reckless driver instantly and stopped there. He was clear.
Turning my attention back to the intersection, everyone who'd been walking had caught sight of the car and cleared the walkway and quickly ran to safety-- except for the elderly woman who was still crossing the street!
Although I hadn't taken track, I had taken sports which did require big amounts of running. And having taken martial arts, my strength should be good enough to carry the woman away and sprint to safety. I quickly considered this and sprinted to the walkway.
The elder had a look of fear in her face, but only caught a glimpse of it as I ran towards her, carefully eyeing the car's every move, and easily scooped up the woman in my arms. Then ran faster as if my life depended on it-- which it did.
I finally turn around and see the car swerved and did a triple flip in the air before crashing onto the asphalt road.
I set the woman down at last when people started coming towards the wreckage after a few minutes with no explosion or anything. I caught the face of the driver--

dead.
Shuddering a little, I search for Yoichirou and I see him running towards me.
"Nii-san! Are you alright?" I kneel down so I was at his height. He hugs my neck and looks at me with his dark blue orbs, his brown hair now tousled.
"I'm okay, Chirou." "Chirou" was my nickname for him.
"Young lady," I turn to see the elderly woman.
"What is your name?"
"Akane, Akane Yukimura."
"What's yours?" She looks at Chirou.
"Yoichirou Yukimura." He says, not missing a beat.
"What is your school?"
"Um, Kunugigaoka High School, ma'am."
"Mine is Seiyo Elementary." Chirou says.
"Hmm..." She pondered for a bit, then looks at me.
"In return for saving me, I will notify my son to accept you into his school, Ouran Academy." My jaw nearly dropped,
"Ouran Academy? The prestigious school for the wealthy? But I'm not--"
"Nonsense! You don't need to be wealthy to get accepted into school. I'll pay for your tuition and the appropriate expenses. You will start tomorrow, come to the office at eight-thirty in the morning." I ran a hand through my wild and short, brown hair-- the same color as Chirou's.
"Wait, this is going too fast--"
"I'll also pay for the little one, he'll go to Ouran Elementary." I look at Chirou and he looks back at me. This offer is... too good to be true.
"I... don't know." I say.
"Let me introduce myself," The elder says, clearly sensing my confusion.
"I am Shizue Suoh, my family is known to be the richest in all of Japan."
"... Are you really?" I was shocked, I had saved a family member who was part of the most richest family in Japan?

"Yes, and if I were you, I would accept the offer, opportunities like this don't come easily. Plus, you seem like youth with talent. I can see it in your eyes." Well, she had a point about the opportunity part.
"But, the kids there are in a higher class than I am, we'd look... a little foolish." I admit.
"Nonsense, there are honor students there who are accepted and they aren't higher class, besides, you're there for education. What does it matter about your social status?"
Well, I can already tell she's one of those kind of people-- narrow their vision on education and only education.
"Yoichirou... what... what do you think?" You might think asking an eight-year-old to decide on the fate of your education is a little irrational, but Chirou is much more mature than what most people would think. It even amazes me.
"Choose what you think, whatever you choose, I'll follow you." He says it so maturely, it made me get a little caught off-guard. I smile helplessly and kissed the top of his forehead, loving the fact that he's so accepting.
"Then... we'll go."
