And it did.
Sitting here watching the news with Krew I listen as they talked about my father. But one word stuck out to me as soon as the reporter said it.
"DEATH PENALTY you got to be fucking kidding me first it was life now they trying to change his sentence to death they can't do that shit".I said pacing back and forth.
"Aye calm down we can fight this". Krew said stopping me in my tracks.
"You acting like he didn't just say death penalty we were looking at the same tv right". I ask looking up at him as he held my face.
"I got some of my people looking into your pops case he gone be good I promise". He said and I shook my head.
"What if you can't help him I want to see him". I said breaking down and he pulling me into his chest rubbing my back.
"Go get your stuff I'm about to take you up there to see him". He said and I nod going to get my phone and keys.
"You ready". He asked and I nod following him out the door making sure it was locked before getting in the car.
He pulled into the parking lot and we got out walking inside.
They checked us and everything taking us inside where the tables were. We sat down and waited till they brought them in.
After a few minutes I see men starting to walk in going to their families and my dad was the last one. I smiled looking at him as he looked around confused fidgeting. I see an female officer walking up to him and he jumped blocking his face. She gave him a smile pointing to me and he looked over running up to me pulling me into a hug.

"I go home I go home with baby Sariah". He said rubbing my back with his head on my chest and I couldn't help but start crying.
"Soon daddy and we'll have all your favorite food and do equations together". I said holding him tightly.
"Y'all let's sit down". Krew said and I nod agreeing with him.
Trying to pull away from the hug he wouldn't let me go.
"You can sit by me daddy". I said taking a seat and he sat beside me laying his head on my shoulder as he held tightly onto my arm.
"Let me look at you". I say picking his head up and I sat there in shock it was bruises everywhere some were old and some were fresh.
"Who did this to you". I ask calmly trying not to let my emotions get the best of me.
He pointed to an officer standing by the restrooms and it was the same one who roughly handled him in court that day. I knew Krew would get my dad out and take care of him if I were to go to jail.
Standing up from the table Krew grabbed my wrist.
"Where you going baby". He asked and if it was any other time I would have blushed but I'm on a mission.
"To the restroom I'll be right back". I said and he let my hand go.
Walking over to the bathroom I acted like I was about to walk in before swinging hitting him dead in the mouth and I kept swinging.
"OH SHIT SHE BOXING HIS ASS UP". I heard an inmate yell before more talking followed.
"Yo what the hell Sariah". Krew said picking me up.
"PUT YOUR HANDS ON MY FATHER AGAIN BITCH AND IT'LL BE THE WORST MISTAKE YOU MAKE IN YOUR LIFE". I yelled breathing heavily as he checked him nose for blood and it was indeed bleeding.

"I'm gonna have to ask you to leave for the rest of the visit you'll be able to come back next week". The female officer said as Krew put me down.
"You not gone arrest her". The officer asked the lady and she shook her head.
"Keep your hands to yourself I always knew one of their family members was gone get you it just so happened to be her". She said before walking away.
"Let's go can't take your ass nowhere". He said walking me over to my dad.
He got up and gave me a hug and I didn't want to let go.
"I'll make sure he's in his own cell and doesn't have any roommates I'll also get him so math books and a little tv". The female officer said to me as she came to take him to the back.
"Thank you so much I really appreciate it". I said looking over at her.
"It's no problem he doesn't deserve to be here and everybody can see that". She said as she grabbed his hand.
"Watch over him for me". I said and she nodded walking away with him.
I sigh watching them disappear to the back before turning to leave.
"I swear you gone end up in jail if you don't quit fighting people". Krew said as we walked out of the building.
"If people would stop fucking with my dad I wouldn't have to fight". I said shrugging getting in the car.
He just shook his head and continued driving.
I really need to get him out of there...

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have. B R I C K: A comedy about a Brick. Titular protagonist Brick usually keeps to their own, away from the prying eyes of the Enemy or rather, everyone. They're a Brick. But one day, Brick's bound to a mysterious being. Ribbon. Brick was always alone, isolated from the realm, but things are starting to heat up again. What does a Brick do now that he's got a Ribbon? Out of touch and out of date, what does Brick do in this changed realm? NOTE: Brick is in fact a brick. And the weary may not believe it, but likewise, Ribbon, is a ribbon. Expect a comedy dynamic between a brick and virtually every other race in the realm.
