"You shouldn't have blamed it on me in tha' first place! Do you know how dat' made me feel!?!"
I looked around the corner, seeing August yelling at this older woman. She was crying, and it was making me a little uncomfortable. I've seen him mad, but this mad.
"August I'm tryna apologize, but you keep interruptin' me!" The woman yelled back.
"So talk den'!" He yelled again.
"Woah, August you need to calm down" I said, butting in.
"Why do I have ta' calm down?" He yelled.
"August it sounds like she's trying to get things right with you. I know you're hurting and she's hurting, but jeez. Try to listen to her" I sighed.
He looked at me, I saw tears in his eyes. I shook my head.
"August just hear her out. I'll be back when you guys are done" I said, heading towards the front door.
"Wait!"
I turned around and looked at him.
"Yeah?"
"You can stay. Can you go upstairs and make sure the girls aight?" He sighed.
"Sure" I mumbled.
"Thanks"
I nodded and headed upstairs. I really hope the talk goes well, at least he has a chance to have his mother in his life.
—
I sighed, and looked back at my mother.
"I'm sorry mom. You'ca talk"
"Like I was sayin' August I'm sorry. I shouldn't have blamed his death on you. I was in a really bad place in my life, and some of the things I said and did was unacceptable. I unda'stand if you don't wanna forgive me. But please just accept my apology. I-I miss my son" She said through tears.
I looked at her for a second, before hugging her. She wrapped her arms around and me and I heard her muffled sobs. I hugged her for a few more minutes before letting her go.

"I'm sawry fa' yellin' and givin' up on you dat' easy" I sighed.
"I forgive you"
"I forgive you too"
—
"Y'all can come down stairs now!" August yelled.
"Bout time, I was hungry" Noonie rolled her eyes.
I laughed as the three girls headed down the stairs. I followed after. I went into the kitchen to see Aug and his momma talking. And by the looks of it. It was a decent conversation.
"Ma, dis' my friend Charisma, Charisma dis' my momma" Aug introduced us.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you" I smiled and held out my hand.
She surprised me by pulling me into a hug.
"Nice ta' meet you as well" She gave me a toothy grin.
"How long have y'all knew eachotha'?" She asked.
I sat down at the table, besides Aug and thought about it.
"It's been about 4 months" I said.
"Wow, and y'all seem really close" She raised an eyebrow.
"Ma dis' just my friend" August chuckled.
"Yeah das' what they all say" She mumbled.
I chuckled in disbelief. His mom was a character.
—
"Aug you betta' keep dis one around. She got a good head on her shoulda'."
We had been talking for a few hours. She learned about the circumstances I met August in. She told me about how August was as a child which was hilarious.
"Thanks Mama Sheila" I smiled at her.
"No problem honey" She smiled.
"Now where are my grand babies?" She smiled.
I watched her get up and go to the living room and I heard laughter.
I looked up at August and smiled.
"Your mom is really funny"
"Yeah she somethin'."
"I'm glad you guys worked it out"
"Me too"
He surprised me when he leaned down and kissed me.

He laughed at the shocked expression on my face. I just looked at him, before grabbing his chin and kissing him again.
"Mhm, just friends my ass" His mom cleared her throat.
I pulled away and looked down, smiling a little bit.
"Mom" August groaned.
"Yeah, yeah. Imma leave y'all alone. I was just tellin' y'all I was gone go take the girls to get icecream." She chuckled.
"Aight" He nodded.
He walked all of them out to the car. When he entered the kitchen again. He stood between my legs.
"So what does this mean?" I asked. Pointing between the two of us.
"What do you want it to mean?" He smiled.
I simply shook my head and kissed him again. His kisses were intoxicating, and it was like, I never wanted it to end.
"Ayeeee!" I heard the all two familiar voice.
I turned around and laughed. There Chris was, with Royalty.
"I didn't know I was interruptin' something" He smirked.
I rolled my eyes and went to go play with Royalty. She giggled as I ticked her stomach.
"I don't get no hug or nothin'?" Chris takes hurts
"Oh hey Chris" I laughed.
"Cold. Just cold"
