I stood in the kitchen with my brother and our adopted sister Heidi. She was born in Poland.

"Now," she said. "Who would like to explain?"

She's way younger than both me and my insolent brother Jonah, but she acts as if she's the great peacemaker of the family.

Jonah stepped up. "I will. Cat and I were practicing in the gym, and To-"

I snorted. "Well, don't listen to him, you'll get a whole different story."

Jonah whipped around, hands in fists, ready for a brawl, though I was much too sophisticated to engage in such a messy practice.

"Fine then," he seethed. "You tell her. Tell her all about how you kicked us out of the gym just for the sake of it."

I placed a delicate hand over my heart. "Just for the sake of it? I assure you, I decorated that gym-"

Jonah scowled. "I passed it this morning. There were no decorations in there! I bet you just left right after we did!"

I paused. "Fine, you caught me. But you had it coming!"

"Why?" Jonah snapped back. "What did Cat and I ever do to you?"

I flinched at the mention of his friend's name. I'd never admit this to either of my siblings, but I had only the slightest of crushes on the DJ. Well.... Maybe a little more than the slightest.

Jonah suddenly gained a suspicious expression. "You found out, didn't you?"

I jumped. "Found out what?"

Jonah laughed cruelly. "Like you don't already know! You figured out that I like Cat, didn't you?"

"I-I did just now," I stuttered in shock.

Jonah's face went whiter than his hair. "Shit."
