《Indelible Affairs》🔑Chapter 23🔑

Continued....

Just as I expected, as soon as we walked into that party everyone shifted their attention to us, this was what Adrian wanted.

You'll presume that with the attention we've been getting during the years that people would know everything about us, quiet the contrary, people only know and see what we want them to see. We show them what they already expect.

I'm glad that these people are blinded by the forshow of wealth we put infront of their faces.

It's easy to hide away your true self behind glamour and prestige. This is one out of the many reasons to why Adrian, Callum and I decided to move to New York. To leave the past behind by creating a whole new image for ourselves.

"Late as usual." Samuel told us as he handed us some drinks.

"The interesting stuff happen after midnight." Adrian took a sip of the cocktail.

The place was already packed with people dressed in 90's outfits. It felt like being trapped in a 90's film or the Rolling Stones music record.

"Come this way, let me show you around." Samuel offered.

Samuel is a close friend, simple guy but with a lot going on.

After two hours of the usual drinking and playing poker, we decided it was time to lay low.

Merissa didn't show up so I was getting a little bored. I wanted to finish the night with sex.

"I'm starting to have my doubts about you Callum." Adrian voiced. We we're sited at a table by the pool deck getting some fresh air. The party inside started to get way too crowded and since the empty pool area was restricted, we took that as an opportunity to get away. Samuel always lets us use the place. He didn't join us though.

"What doubts?" Callum faced his brother. I know exactly how these conversations work. Adrian says some shit about Callum to agitate the guy for his own amusement and I sit there and watch.

"Are you gay?" He smirked.

I almost choked on the whiskey. This is a new one.

"Please don't start. I'm not in the mood for your games." Callum sounded bored.

"We haven't seen you showing interest in any woman ever since forever and your claims of waiting for the right person are starting to get old." I said.

Callum shifted his gaze to me in shock. "You guys can't seriously be asking me that? I don't show my interest for women as openly as you two but it doesn't mean I don't like women. And when have I shown interest in men per say?"

"I'm just saying man, it's a little strange that a guy like you isn't getting it in. I don't see what's stopping you. Unless you're gay." Adrian comments. "We won't judge you. You can tell us anything."

Callum leaned back on his seat in defeat. "I'm not gay or bi or anything aside from straight. Can you two stop this, it's not funny."

"We aren't trying to be funny, we're just struggling to understand you." Adrian said.

"Why do you care so much anyway?" Callum asked narrowing his eyes at Adrian.

I honestly don't care, I'm just a little curious.

"Just worried about you." Adrian replied simply. "May be you're incapable. Are you having some health issues? Impotence perhaps?"

Adrian was taking this a bit too far.

"Please shut the fuck up." Callum was starting to lose his patience. "I'm perfectly capable of having sex. I'm just not interested."

"What sort of man isn't interested in sex?" I asked him. I haven't met a man who doesn't appreciate the pleasure of climaxing. Sex is essential. Period.

"I knew something was wrong with you." Adrian raised his hands. "There is no man out there, with a functioning penis who doesn't want to fuck."

"The no sex thing is reserved for priests and nuns." I added.

"This is unbelievable." Callum frowned.

"Unless you want to prove us wrong." Adrian suggested.

"I don't have to prove anything to you." Callum replied.

He was right about that. But I enjoy seeing him all riled up.

"Get a girl, man." Adrian wasn't stoping.

"Is this about Christine?" I interjected. Callum has been hooked up on this woman for as long as I can remember. And up until now, she hasn't shown any slight interesting on wanting a relationship with Callum. But yet, here we are.

"Thought Callum claimed he's over that chick." Adrian reminded me. "Right?" He faced his brother.

I don't think so. As far as "moving on" is concerned, Callum hasn't shown any signs of forgetting Christine and pushing forward. He's been single since forever because he can't get the girl off his mind.

It's honestly ridiculous. There's plenty of women around, everywhere basically, and he's being stupid.

"It's not about Christine." Callum insisted. "Two years now, I haven't seen her for that long."

I'm sure if Christine showed up right now, Callum won't hesitate on pursuing her again.

For the millionth time.

The dude never gives up.

"She doesn't even want you." Adrian mocked. "That bitch got married as soon as we graduated. What's wrong with you man?"

And she is divorced apparently. These people are forgetting that 'Nothing lasts forever".

What a waste of time.

"Quit bringing her up." Callum spoke. "You guys constantly remind me of her and it's not helping."

See.....he still loves her. The mere mention of Christine drives him crazy.

"Just find a girl, Callum." I advised. "You can't move on if you're constantly clinging to the past. There's probably a really nice woman out there for you but then you're here being an total idiot."

"Exactly, very well said." Adrian pitched. "And if you want to meet someone, then break free from that shell of yours."

"Trust us Callum. Another woman can help you forget about everything Christine put you through." I urged. "I happen to know a few."

Callum eyed me.

"I'm not going to use some innocent girl to forget about another. That's wrong okay." Callum uttered. "Dragging this woman into an affair with the purpose of turning her into a distraction doesn't sit well with me."

For fucks sake.

"It's a win win situation." Adrian intervened. "You'll eventually end up liking here, hopefully."

Clearly, it's not a win to win situation. Callum's basically using the girl, but I still support him finding a new woman to distract himself from that Christine.

"I don't know guys." Callum frowned.

"Come on. We hate seeing you this way." Adrian said.

"There's literally nothing to lose." I added.

Callum was slowly considering.

"I guess you're right." He agreed

That's more like it.

"So you'll say yes to Emily?" Adrian asked curiously.

I doubt it.

"I want nothing to do with that girl. She isn't my type." Callum was serious.

That girl was too desperate.

"I'm getting more drinks." I stood up.

"I'm coming with you." Callum followed suite. I'm sure he didn't want to be left alone with Adrian.

"Get me glass." Adrian requested as we headed for the door.

"Put on the sun glasses." I advised. Those shades complimented Callum's appearance. He put them on.

We exited the pool area and headed down stairs where the crowd was.

"These glasses cover my entire face." Callum wasn't comfortable but atleast Emily won't see him and recognize him.

I think he needs to be straight forward with her and decline her offer. This hiding away in attempts of not hurting her feelings is ridiculous.

"Ooh shit." Callum cursed when a girl pumped into him and accidentally poured a drink on his navy blue jacket.

"I'm so sorry." She apologized so sincerely that even the devil would forgive her. "I didn't see you."

"Can't you watch where you're going?" He ranted. Callum was way upset than he needed to be and I know it's because of our conversation from earlier.

The girl's face paled. She was a brunette with long wavey hair and bright green blue eyes. I think if Callum wasn't busy being mad he would've noticed her beauty. He didn't even spare the girl a glance and just stormed off to clean himself up.

The girl probably didn't see his face clearly because of the shades. They covered half of his face.

"I'm really sorry about his coat. I wasn't looking ahead. It was an accident I swear."

She was shy and I could tell from how nervous she sounded. Her cheeks were red crimson from embarrassment and if I didn't know any better I would think she was blushing at me.

"It's okay, don't worry about it." I tried to calm her. I almost felt sorry for her, Callum was practically yelling at her.

"I'm Elisabeth Wilson." She stated her full name.

I'm sure it took her some courage to introduce herself. Her eyes wouldn't leave the floor as if there's something so interesting down there.

"You are??" She asked slowly lifting her head to face me.

She doesn't know who I am? That's new. I could swear that everyone at NYU knows me. Unless she doesn't go there or she's pretending. She doesn't look like the pretensious type.

Her eyes were curious as they roamed my face. She seriously doesn't know me.

That's Interesting.
