Mistake? Or Needed?

"Hey, Jack!" Lena greeted him enthusiastically as he entered the garage.

Jack was the only close friend she's managed to make during her time in college. After they both graduated (Lena at 19 and Jack at 20) and Lena almost finished with business school, they've been working on multiple projects and mostly, a cure for cancer. They've been at it for years now. Lena was twenty-two and Jack was twenty-three right now.

"Hi, Lena."

"So, guess what."

"You found a cure for cancer?"

"Working on it. We're a little off, but I think we can get it."

"Well, let's get to it."

They worked side by side for hours. And with every chance he could get, Jack stole glances at her. Yes, she was doing great at her attempts and work, but he thought she was very beautiful. And he was falling more and more in love with her.

Of course, Lena isn't stupid. She noticed the glances he thought he stole, but nonetheless, she knew what he was doing. She ignored it, just hoping they could do just focus on the work.

"Did you figure out where you were going to locate?" Jack asked.

"Not yet. I was thinking maybe National City. It seems really nice and the population and tech are outstanding." Her eyes were lighting up at the ideas flowing through her head.

"Yeah, it's great." He admired every way she lit up whenever she was talking about something she was interested in, mostly in tech. He didn't realize, but he was staring at her. Lena looked up and saw him, and gave him a quizzical eyebrow.

"Jackie? You're staring."

"S-Sorry, Lena."

She chuckles. "It's quite all right."
