《Agere Academy》Explanation

I was feeling really embarrassed. I had been super depressed in front of my potential friend. I couldn't face talking to her, so I was glad when Zander took me inside his office. He seemed kind, so I was happy. I sat on his comfy lilac armchair. Zander cleared his throat and looked straight at me. "Okay, Rose. I'll explain to you our school rules, and what we'll do here at the school, mhm?
I looked down at my feet and nodded.
Zander smiled and continued. " So here at the school, we try to be a safe space for littles and caregivers. You will get a caregiver after a week of you being here. That will mean you get a room, and a lap to sit on at mealtimes." Zander chuckled to himself.
"Once you get your caregiver, you'll have your own set of rules to follow, but here at the school, please just be respectful and kind to others. I will help you with any questions you'll have in the future and now. So, any questions, Georgia?"
I looked up and realized he said my name. I stammered a no, and looked back at my lap.
"You'll have a special uniform for school, but you don't wear it on the weekend. If you misbehave in class, your teacher will write it in her logbook and she'll tell me or tell your caregiver in the future. But I'm sure you'll behave, right?"
I paused but nodded. I can be angry at times and defend myself if necessary. When i get cranky sometimes. Zander explained more boring stuff about classes, and then he opened the door. "Hurry along now, it's almost bedtime." The time was only 9:30, but I didn't complain, this was a school for littles after all. I rushed back into my room opened the door and sat down on my bed. The other girls had already changed into their pajamas. I felt self-conscious about changing in public, but I tried my best to hide myself. "Eurgh, she's so skinny." I heard one girl say that, but I didn't know who. I finished changing and lay on my bed, exhausted.

A random person came into our room and turned the lights off. "Goodnight, girls, sleep well." The person had a soft, comforting voice. I lay on my bed, kind of feeling hot, so I didn't get under the blankets. Then I forgot something. My stuffie, Ted, wasn't in my arms. I panicked and looked in my bag. He wasn't there. I sat back on my bed, trying to keep calm. This place smelt unfamiliar and not like home. Ted smelt of home, and of me. I needed him. Bad.
Rose leaned over the top of her bunk and looked down at me. "Georgia?" I ignored her, thinking for earlier. It was too embarrassing. Rose sighed and went back to sleep. I was all alone now, the only one awake, and without Ted. I curled up in my bed and started chewing my nails out of habit. I squinted my eyes shut and pretended I was asleep. Then moments later, I heard a shuffling noise, and someone put Ted beside me. I knew exactly who it was. Georgia. I felt a sudden burst of happiness, but I continued to pretend I was asleep. This day wasn't that bad.

The Girl with Scales and a Sword
This is the story of a girl who ends up with scales and a sword. Yup. There you have it folks. Slice of Life is the key intended genre. This is literally going to be a running commentary of a girls life, especially as it relates to adventure and action This is going to be a continuous work, as I intend it to be a side project while I work on other books more decidedly, and I intend to rework chapters often, because I want this both to be a break from other titles, and a learning experience. I'm going to be trying to get a lot of people to comment on chapters so I can grow as a writer. So if you want to read, please do! and comment if you feel generous. Just keep in mind, releases will likely be veeeeery far apart. (Note: I try to put out a chapter a month, though that doesn't always happen depending on school, work, and generally how well I'm doing, energy-wise)
