"Marcello's phone."
"Anna?" Luca is a little shocked to find Anna answering his brother's phone. "Where's Marcello?"
"I'm not sure where we are but he got a call and then we pulled up at this creepy looking place. He got out but he told me to stay in the car."
"Idiot."
"Me?"
"No, him. Sorry Anna. Can you tell him I called?"
"Of course."
Luciano hangs up and a thousand different scenarios run through Anna's head. She asks herself questions about Marcello. What would he need to do at an creepy looking warehouse? Why was he so violent with Elliot before?
Anna pulls out her own phone and calls Lucy.
"Speak if you must."
"Luce it's Annie."
"Why are you calling me while you are on a date?"
"Well Marcello got this phone call and now we are parked outside this creepy warehouse. He told me to stay in the car but I guess-"
"You are calling me because that sounds strange." Lucy finishes Anna's thought.
"It does, doesn't it?"
"Do you think he taking care of someone?"
"Like someone who is sick?"
"Oh god Anna you we so naive. Taking care of someone...like killing them."
"No he wouldn't!"
"He is the head of the Italian Mafia Annie I'm sure he has killed a lot of people."
"But..." Anna trails off unsure of what to say. He did threaten her originally but now... now he is Marcello Morretti the man who is sweet and caring. The man she slept with... "Lucy I don't know what to do."
"If it were me I'd be running by now." Lucy offers. "What ever you choose I love you Annie."
"I love you too Luce." Anna hangs up her phone and sits with it in her lap. She thinks over Lucy's advice. Looking out the window to the creepy warehouse Anna makes her decision. While she hates to think the worst of Marcello her heart is telling her to get the hell out of here.

Grabbing her bag she scolds herself for getting excited over this 'date'. She opens the door as quietly as possible. Slipping out the car she begins to power walk into the unknown neighbourhood.
Thoughts tumble around Anna's head. She has conflicting feelings about running from Marcello. Anna can't deny that there is something about him that attracts her. It is not just that he is ruggedly handsome. Two days she has known the man and for that entire time thoughts of Marcello Morretti have consumed her.
Anna finds a cafe a block down and is about to enter hoping to find someone that can tell her where she is. Anna has been in the Boston area four years but has never come across this part of the city. Before she can even set foot inside someone grabs her wrist.
"You could wait for dinner you know." Marcello's voice surprises her.
"I didn't know how long you were going to be." Anna snaps.
"I'm sorry I had to run out on you but I had a matter to attend to." Marcello says professionally.
"I don't think this is going to work." Anna says softly.
"What's not going to work?"
"This." Anna points between the two of them. "You and me. I can't be someone who leaves in the middle of a date to kill someone."
"What makes you think I left to 'kill someone'?" Marcello uses air quotes.
"Well what were you doing?"
"I'm not the flipping newspaper Marcello you can't blow me off like that!" Anna yells at him.
"Why don't we continue our drive and I will explain myself?"
"I don't trust you."
"As well you shouldn't. But please Anastasia, give me a chance."

"Why should I? You threatened me when we first met, you had me dragged out of my apartment. I don't owe you anything." Anna steps away from him. She is shaking with anger.
Before he can answer Anna's phone rings in her pocket. Sighing Anna pulls out her phone and presses it to her ear.
"Yeah?"
"Anastasia Carmichael that is no way to answer the phone!"
"Sorry Mama." Marcello smirks at her. Anna narrows her eyes and turns her back on him.
"I wanted to talk about this boy of yours."
"Now is not a good time mama. Can we talk tomorrow?"
"Is he with you now?"
"Just hold on one second Mama." Anna turns back to Marcello and covers her phone with her hand. "I will go with you and let you explain on one condition."
"Which is?" Marcello asks stepping closer to Anna.
"You tell my parents that you're my boyfriend."
"Boyfriend?" Marcello smirks at Anna.
"That is my condition." Anna says sternly. Marcello takes the phone out of her hand.
"Mrs Carmichael it is Marcello Morretti. I'm so sorry we haven't spoken sooner. Your daughter keeps me... preoccupied."
"Oh god!"

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
8 179Earth Ascension - Fantasy Adventure LitRPG
It’s a normal day on Earth when a powerful being triggers the assimilation of Earth and all living beings into the Ascended Universe, a frightening wall of light envelops the planet in order to drag it into a higher plane of reality. A place where abundant mana allows powerful magic and monsters to reside. The protagonist Dante wakes up in a dark cave with vague memories of his past life. He is confronted by a crazy, enigmatic and powerful being who sees Dante as his chance to escape his prison. Tasked with a grand trial, Dante is dropped on a planet he no longer recognises and starts his perilous journey through the Ascended universe. In this universe resides an omnipotent system that quantifies everyone's existence into numbers, it also assists people in becoming more powerful. Join the main protagonist as he is pitted against powerful monsters, Angelic beings, Demons and much more. He makes friends and loyal companions along the way, unfortunately, he also attracts the attention of powerful galaxy-spanning organisations that want to use his power for their own nefarious purposes. Forewarning regarding the start of the story. This story contains graphic descriptions of violence. The first few chapters of the book focus mostly on characters experiences and state of mind. The protagonist doesn't start off as a hero, he's distressed, confused, scared and struggling for survival. LitRPG elements are sprinkled throughout these chapters but aren't initially at the forefront of the story. If you're willing to persevere, the LitRPG elements and significant progression become more heavily intertwined with the story as they become more relevant. Thank you. *** What to expect *** This is a Fantasy Adventure LitRPG. There’s gore, swearing, bad jokes and lots of struggling. (I like to make the character earn his power.)Book 1: Covers the characters' experiences in becoming accustomed to this new reality. There are chapters that focus on survival and hardship. He starts with literally nothing, gradually he accumulates incredible power. He achieves his power through completing various trials and encounters in his journey to find out who he is, and what he wants in this world. There’s a focus on the mental state of the protagonist and an alternating pace of writing to allow character development to occur. The planned second book will kick off at a much faster pace with more action, focus on the system, and delving into the purposes of the Grand trial assigned to the main protagonist.I aim to deliver a world with Interesting characters, Monsters, Magic, Epic battles, Levelling, System interaction, Skill creation, Trials (Quests), Dungeons, Training and more. *** Release ****Chapters will be around 2000-3000+ words long, averaging 2.5k. I’ve almost finished the first book and am trying to edit and polish the chapters that are being released.I aim to release 3-5 chapters a week. Please enjoy.
8 130A Beholder's Path
Hello, it’s me, Aether. As a beholder, curiosity is the driving force of my existence, which is why when I found a new world close to mine, I just had to tear a passage through spacetime to explore it. The rest of the demon world may or may not have used this passage to invade, but I am sure all the sentient races of that world would agree a demon apocalypse is definitely in the top ten best things that could happen to them. 8 167The Plant Dungeon
I wrote this a while ago at my website. It is a mix of cultivation/dungeon with a few LitRPG themes, but not enough to justify the tag. I am migrating it here, so I don't have to keep paying WordPress for the site. I will continue writing this. So... Now for the synopsis. Follow the life of an unusual adventurer who got turned into a dungeon. Well... that was short. I guess I would just suggest reading the first few chapters to see how you like it. (remember, if enough people ask for it, I will continue writing it.) I have no Idea who owns the picture I used for the cover. If you want it down PM me and I'll take it down.
