《The Only Blood》Chapter 26 - The Date

"So where are we going?"

I was now ready for the date and was badgering him with the same-old questions about where he was taking me. I didn't see many places here in the Vampire Kingdom that were fancy, or anything, just fields here and there where he could have made some arrangements or perhaps he had planned something else excitedly.

I remembered the last time I had planned to go for a date - and I didn't want to remember that time right now. It was one of those days that I cherished when it came to the moments I spent with Adrian, and I didn't want to remember another man when Aiden was planning something special for me.

Oh, how different life has been since then.

So now, I was wondering where Aiden was going to take me, and I had that flutter of excitement in my belly - I was feeling this way after a long, long time. I was slightly jittery too, because he was acting like a gentleman courting me, and it made me feel special.

No one had ever made me feel this way.

"Come on, Aiden, I will know eventually, then why not tell me now?" I whined slightly, my goal to annoy the answer out of him. But he just smiled at me calmly and it just annoyed me to no end that my endless badgering was not irritating him.

"I'm not telling you because you'll know eventually. Just wait for a few moments, will you?" He said, wrapping an arm around my waist and kissing my forehead.

I grinned giddily and my heart fluttered for a moment.

He made some calls, far away from me, and alas, my hearing wasn't strong enough for me to hear what he was saying. A few moments later, he came back and held his arm out to me, "Come with me, my lady, let me show you a good time."

I giggled at him like an excited child and took his arm. Almost immediately, we were down the room and out of the castle. He stopped and turned to me, tucking a strand behind my ear. My heart fluttered again, and I closed my eyes as he leant down to kiss me softly.

"I hope you like this date."

I opened my eyes and beside us was standing a...car.

My eyes widened and realization dawned on me. I looked at him with those wide eyes and a slow grin formed on my face.

"Is it really what I think?" I asked, my feet already jumping like an excited kid, "Please, tell me it's what I think?!" He nodded at me with a grin on his face.

I squealed so loudly and jumped and pranced around the car, so happy that I was going to go to the human world after such a long time.

Aiden was laughing at me but I was beyond care; I was so happy that I danced around for a few moments like that and I finally jumped on Aiden who had his arms open for me. He spun me around the air while I was still squealing.

Perhaps the entire kingdom heard how happy I was.

I kissed him all over his face, not able to contain my happiness and my love for him.

"I love you so much for this. I love, love, love you soooooo much, Aiden, you don't know how happy you've made me just now!" I almost screamed in his ears.

"Alright, alright, I know you're very happy. Now should we get going?" He chuckled, kissing my forehead, "You're so cute, Cynthia. If I'd known this would make you so happy, I'd have done this before."

I didn't say anything to him; just wiggled out of his hold and got into the car before he could even open the door for me.

"Come on, Moon," he called me using my human name and grinned, "I know you're excited, but could you at least let me open the door for you?"

I shrugged and got out of the car. Again, I slammed the door behind me and said, "Okay, you open the door now."

He shook his head slowly, and then open the door. Like a true gentleman, he helped me inside, and I had to hold myself from bouncing in the seat.

He was next to me in an instant and my legs were bouncing in my seat.

I was going back home; it had been more than a month since I had been back there and I was missing being there. I wanted to feel human again for a while, without these supernatural powers, these supernatural complications and these supernatural expectations that my life had from me - the people had from me.

"Come on, Moon, let's go!" He said and the car raced out of the kingdom.

I didn't know how Aiden came to know that I desperately wanted to go back there, but however he did, I was grateful to him for whatever he was doing for me. He had this tendency to be so thoughtful towards everything and I couldn't help but fall more and more in love with him. It didn't take me long to realize that Aiden was my saviour in every sense of the way now.

I was extremely dependent on him for everything - dependency was something I didn't like at all - but he made me feel comfortable with being dependent. All this time, he had proved time and again that I could trust him with everything - mind, body and soul - and in some time, I knew I would spill all the secrets I had kept hidden from him since so long.

I loved and trusted him with all my heart; I hoped he never ever broke it. I knew I would be beyond repair then.

"Thank you so much, Aiden, for whatever you're doing. You've no idea how much this means to me." I told him as we were nearing the MoonLine.

He just nodded his head in regard, and rested his free hand on my thigh, which I held my hand and brought up to my face to kiss. He then entwined our fingers and kissed the inside of my wrist, sending delicious shivers down my spine.

I was so in love with him.

I brought down the windows at my side and stared out as we soon reached the outskirts of the city. Coming back here was so different from being across the MoonLine; it was much less of a jungle and I had been a city girl all of my lfe and it was so much different watching the skyscrapers, the honking cars, the streetlights, the hustle bustle of the city, the bumping of people into each other, the couples everywhere who were with each other because they chose to be.

I smiled at the sights in front of me, and thankfully Aiden was driving leisurely because he knew I was enjoying the sights in front of me. The ride was mostly silent and I closed my eyes for sometime, smelling in the scents of the people around me - something I could do now.

Oh God, I missed this so much.

"Where are we going now?" I perked up instantly when I saw that we were going through the familiar streets that were leading us to my house .

"Well, we'll be first taking your phone from your house because we need to click a lot of pictures. I've never seen you this happy before and I want these moments to be captured on camera.

Against my better judgement, I grabbed his face and kissed him hard.

And then I sat back on my seat, exhilarated.

He pulled over in front of my house and I waited, almost trembling in my seat with impatience, for him to come and open the door for me. Once he opened the door, I waited till he held my hand and helped me to come out of the car, and then I ran to the door and crashed into it, forgetting that the door was locked and I didn't have that much strength here to break the door.

"Easy there, girl," Aiden laughed, "Here, take the keys."

He threw the keys at me, and I caught them quickly - it was something that surprised me too. I opened the door to my house and burst inside, collapsing on my couch.

I missed how my home smelt like - my grandma. The familiarity of the place almost brought tears to my eyes, the comfort it brought. I selfishly wished for a moment that only I was here. I wanted to forget that I had ever been taken to a different world - a different world where I actually belonged.

"Oh Goddess, Aiden, you don't know how I'm feeling..." I whispered.

"Oh I know how you're feeling, love." He sat down beside me and wrapped his arms around my shoulder. He pulled me to him and kissed my forehead - we sat this way for a while.

********************************

"Tell me one thing," I began to ask Aiden, "What were you doing here the first time I saw you?"

He paused for a while, staring at me with uncertainty. He scratched his head, wondering if he should tell me or not and I began to think that I was not going to like his answer, "Well, I was here to trace you down and abduct you." He paused again, "I don't know if I should be telling this to you, but I don't want to lie to you about this. Foundation of any relationship starts with the truth and I don't want to lie to you about anything."

I felt slightly guilty because of what he said; only slightly.

He regarded me carefully. I urged him, "Go on."

"Well we had gotten information about you four ladies being there - Luna Queen, Luna Prime, Pack Healer or Beta Queen and one the most powerful witches - all under one roof. What else did we need to get our revenge from the Werewolves. So we were on our way to trap you all and take you back with us but your mates beat us to it. It had pissed me off to no ends."

He went deep into his thoughts for another while, "But then, I felt a pull towards your house and I saw you struggling with your other mate. The feelings I was having towards you were making me question a lot of things, but the the moment you turned your head towards me and your eyes flashed red, I finally knew what the whole thing was about. In that moment, all I wanted to do was to have you by my side and I even forgot that I was supposed to abduct you. I went back and fought with Logan about the mission I was on and then he finally conceded that no harm was to be done to you. I had followed your car all the way back and had spied you shifting into your hybrid. I fell in love with you instantly, and wanted to have you with me."

"Then why didn't you come for me?"I remembered being so hurt about him not coming after me - I had almost believed that even my other mate didn't want me then. That was what had led to me shifting that way - the frustration of having two destined mates but none of them wanting me. Now that he said that he had followed me and seen me shift, I felt so much better about the entire ordeal.

"I wanted it to be your choice, Cynthia. And then, I knew that your other made already had a queen pregnant and he was not going to leave her for you anytime soon. So I was expecting for you to come to me sooner or later."

I nodded. I wondered if Aiden had forced me to go with him always just like Adrian did, the way I felt for Aiden would have been much different. Just because he waited for me to come to him, I knew that it made him much more different than Adrian.

"Well..." I said, turning towards him with a smile, "I love you."

It was heartfelt - and it was a moment of vulnerability for me. I had never said this to anyone romantically and meant it with my whole damn heart at the same time. The faith I had in him took my breath for a moment and I knew it was almost the same for him.

It was big deal for both of us.

His eyes met mine, "I love you, too, Cynthia, more than I love anyone else in this world."

Ip was about to cry, again, so I just burrowed my face in his chest and hoped to stay like that for a little more while.

I think I took a small nap, and when I woke up, Aiden was still holding me.

"Where are we going after this?" I asked him. To be honest, I really didn't want to leave the comfort of my house but didn't have the heart to tell him, too.

"Well we have got our pjs and some movies with us, so I think all we need to do is order from your favorite restaurant. We can Netflix and Chill if you want to." he wiggled his eyebrows at me.

I looked at him in slight awe, "Are you for real, Aiden?"

"I just know you well enough." He winked back at me.

I sighed dreamily when he went towards my kitchen. He soon brought the menu pamphlet of the restaurant I always frequented. He even had it noted down - the dishes I loved so much.

"How do you know about all these things?" I stood up with my hands on my hips.

"Well, I had some help." he shrugged.

I scrunched my brows and tapped my feet now, "Who was it?"

Internally, I wondered who could have told him. My grandma knew everything, but she was no longer alive. So unless this guy knew some voodoo to summon dead people and ask them silly questions about favourite restaurants, he had to have another source of information.

I wondered if I had other friends who knew about me but couldn't remember the names of any. Even Liana didn't have any access to such kind of information. Even if she did, I didn't think Aiden would ask her out of all people to tell him about it.

So who could it be?

"Lazarus." He stated as if it was almost expected.

"What?!" I almost screamed. "Of all people, he knows such intricate details about me?"

Aiden winced a little, "It looks like lot of revelations are coming forward today."

I gave him a blank look and looked and him expectantly. When he didn't say anything for a while, I raised my brows and said, "Well, continue. What are you waiting for? I'm sure Lazarus will not be coming here to tell me the truth."

"Alright," He sighed, "It's nothing much, but I guess I'll have to start from the start to give you an idea."

I nodded.

"So, it was pure stroke of Luck that Lazarus owns the company you worked in. During the meeting where you met Adrian, Lazarus was inspecting some stuff with the security when he saw your interaction in the camera and immediately realised something was... Different.

"He kept watching your live footage during the entire meeting and decided that observing you was more important than the work he had been there for. So he dismissed all the security men from the room and sat looking at the two of you."

And here I thought I wasn't obvious with the way I was acting like a harpy inside when I first met Adrian.

It was so embarrassing that Lazarus was the one who has witnessed my interaction with him right from the beginning. I frankly didn't know what all he had seen, because if he found the meeting room behavior interesting enough.

My face turned beet red.

"I know what you're think about, Cynthia," Aiden said, having no mercy, "And yes, he saw that too. Once your meeting was over, he spared no time in wanting to inspect you closer. After all, he had found his enemy's real weakness. So he saw the thing you two in the bathroom, your reactions, everything he said to me. I do find it disgusting now, but Logan had enjoyed witnessing all of that."

I really wanted him to stop now. This was too embarassing for me to digest. Also, it was an invasion of my privacy and I felt the anger bubble within me.

I really couldn't say that I understood why he did what he did - though I did know that it was all because of the rivalry between the twotwo kingdoms.

It was wrong on so many levels though.

He continued on, "So after that he started working closely with you so that he could gain your trust. He spied on you for the most part of his days just to know your routines and the changes you went through. He was sure when you showed all the signs of a found mate and immediately befriended you, forcefully. He used to tell me a good amount of times the reluctance on your face every time he approached you, and yet you always treated him kindly. So that is how he knows about your favourites."

He looked at my horrified features. "I'm sorry, baby."

"I just... " I took in a deep breath, "You know what? Forget about it. Let's just order food and select the movies and have fun. I don't want to ruin our night."

He nodded and kissed me softly, "We're not the villains, okay. I love you."

"I love you, too."

The rest of the night was spent in the bed, eating, watching the movie on my TV and then binging on some Netflix. Aiden made sure that my mind no longer lingered on what we had discussed before and really showed me a good time.

Sometimes I really wondered of I even deserved that guy.
