The Only One
Chapter 12
Last night was the best night of my life. Hanna told me how she feels about me and she agreed to coming on tour with us.
We're leaving in about 3 weeks and we have a show tonight.
We're playing at an amusement park called Catalina Park Way. Weird name in my opinions, but the names not up to me.
Unfortunately, Maggie can't make the concert tonight, but at least Hanna will have Cam.
She said she'll help him with the guitars and everything and really in general just make sure everything is going right.
But then again, Chuck will also be there to help Cameron, but I think Hanna feels obligated to help, which she definitely shouldn't. I would just let her chill in the front row during the concert, but I guess it's up to her what she wants to do.
Our show is in 8 hours, we have sound check in 6 hours, so until then, I have time to myself.
"Yo, Ryan," Nash says, standing at my door way. "Do you wanna go get some pizza with us?"
"Nash, it's 11 o'clock in the morning, and you really want pizza?" I ask curiously.
"Yes! Jamie and I really want pizza." He snickers. Leave it to my brother to want to go out and get pizza at this hour.
"Okay, Nash, I'll go. Is Ian going?"
"No, my dear friend Ryan, Ian is not coming. Why?! Do you wanna start a new bromance?! You sick of Rash? You want like Rian?! I mean, you already have the Follebros, and Rash, but nooo, now you want Rian too? You're so selfish." He shakes his head in disappointment.
"Nash, you're so weird sometimes." I say, laughing.
"Of course, I am, I know. Thank you very much. Meet us downstairs after you get on your extremely skinny jeans."
Nash leaves quickly and I immediately put on dark jeans, a white leopard pattern shirt, with some suspenders, AND DON'T FORGET A BOW TIE, and then I meet them downstairs.
Just to bug Nash I ask, "So where is Ian? Why can't he come for breakfast pizza today?" I receive a glare from Nash and an actual answer from Jamie.
"Ian is with Maggie this morning." Jamie replies, making a heart with his hands.
"They're just so cute together. If only I had a bromance with someone that attractive." I tease Nash.
Jamie laughs hysterical, even though he obviously doesn't get the joke, and Nash frowns.

"Look, Ryan, could you please stop teasing me? It really hurts my feelings." He says, and puts his hand up to his heart, trying to be dramatic.
We have an epic stare down, until we both break out in laughter.
"Alright, enough of this Bromance stuff I can't take it, Nash." I laugh.
"Okay, okay." He says, as he grabs his keys, and we head out the door.
***
When we get to our usual pizza parlor, the waitress named DeeDee comes over to us and takes our order. Jamie orders a coke, I order a coke, and Nash orders Fresca, and then we order a large cheese pizza and a large pepperoni pizza.
"Alright, I'll be right back with that." DeeDee says.
When she walks away, three familiar faces walk through the door. And then one other familiar face behind them.
Ian. Maggie. Hanna. And then Monica and her friend Savanna.
I never liked Savanna. She was always thinking she was the best out of everyone. It was annoying.
Hanna walks up to me with a huge smile on her face. She looks as if she wants to give me a hug but doesn't know if it's the best idea, especially with Monica right behind her.
"Hi, Ry." She smiles.
"Han, hey, how ya doing?" I give her the same smile in return.
"Oh c'mon, hug the girl already!" Maggie, Ian, Nash, and Jamie exclaim at the same time.
Hanna and I laugh as I pull her closer and hug her and the other four make, "awww" sounds. Oh, how I just love these people...
I take a quick glance at Monica and see her glaring in my direction. She's always been like that.
I haven't seen her since that day at the beach with Hanna when I asked her to play volleyball with us.
Everyone settles back into their seats, and we start talking about the gig tonight and then Monica comes walking over to us.
"Hey guys!" She says in her fake sweet voice with a smile plastered on her face.
The four of us guys glare in Monica's direction, Maggie gives a weak smile, and Hanna just looks curiously at Monica. Even though Han and I never talked about Monica, I have no doubt in my mind that she knows what happened between us.
"Hey Monica." Ian says in a miserable tone.
"How are y'all doing? I haven't seen you in so long." She says "sweetly".
"We're doing great, Monica. And you?" I say, trying my best to be nice so she'll leave.

"I'm doing so well. You know, Savanna and I are just grabbing something to eat and we'll be on our way."
"Good." I hear Ian, Jamie, Nash, Maggie, and Han say under their breath.
"Oh, sounds great. I'll see you later Monica." I reply.
"Oh, Ryan, trying to get me to leave so fast? You know, I've really missed you!"
"That's too bad Monica, because I haven't missed you." I say. That was actually kind of harsh...
"That was a tad bit harsh, Ryan." She says faking a hurt expression.
"Like you honestly care, Monica. You like harsh."
"Oh, see, Ryan? You know me so well. We're just meant to be!"
"And you ruined that, Monica, it was on you." I remind her.
She rolls her eyes in response.
"Monica, seriously, just leave. You know exactly what you're doing, and it's not helping." Maggie speaks up.
"And here I thought we were friends, Miss Maggie."
"I never said we weren't friends, Monica. I'm just sticking up for my real friends." She says. And here I thought Maggie would always side with Monica. They used to be inseparable.
"Ouch, Maggie, that hurts. It's okay though, I guess now I just know who my real friends are. I'll see you all later. Good bye, Ryan, I know you still love me." She says, and grabs her little sidekick toy Savanna and leaves the pizza parlor acting like she owns the place. As if.
"Well that was interesting!" Nash says. "So glad she's gone!"
I hear Jamie chuckle and Ian cracks a smile. No one ever liked Monica. They always said I was crazy for dating her for so long. But I saw a side of her that no one ever saw and they obviously still don't. I do see now that the boys were only looking out for me.
Changing the subject I say, "So, after this, are you guys up for a movie and then we can go to sound check?"
Everyone agrees, and Maggie says she'll come with us, but she has to leave right after sound check.
"What movie?" Jamie asks.
"Not Titanic! I call it!" Hanna exclaims, and exchanges a look with Maggie.
"Uh, okay...?" I say.
"Sorry Ryan, we watched that the other night and cried like babies. It's not happening again." Maggie explains.
"Ah, I see." Ian says as I chuckle. "How about we watch..."
"Paranormal Activity!" "The Notebook!" Nash and Jamie yell at the same time.
"The Notebook?" I ask Jamie.
"Yes..." He says, and blushes a little as we give him weird looks. "What? I like that movie!"
"Okay, okay," Ian says. "Why don't we flip a coin?" He suggests.
"Okay. Heads for Paranormal Activity, and tails for The Notebook." Hanna says, and I shake my head.
"I so call tossing the coin!" Nash claims.
"Whatever. Here Nash," I say and hand him a coin.
"Ready, and...!" He throws the coin up in the air. "TAILS!!!"
"The notebook it is!" Maggie says, and then our pizza comes. It took long enough.
We each grab a few pieces and start eating, joking around the whole time. I don't know what I'd do without these guys.
***
When we get back to our place, we pop popcorn and order the movie on Demand.
Hanna, Ian, Maggie and I sit on the couch, and Jamie and Nash take the two chairs.
Hanna and Maggie both start crying in the middle of the movie. I understand crying at the end of the movie, but this part isn't even sad!
"Hanna," I whisper in her ear. "Why are you crying?"
She looks up into my eyes and lets out a giggle and then goes back to watching the movie.
In the last scene of the movie, Hanna and Maggie are in complete sobs, and even Ian and I have shed a few tears. Although Nash and Jamie are a completely different story.
They're just sitting there with straight faces, even snickering a bit. Honestly, I can see Nash acting this way, but Jamie..? That's something new.
The four of us give Jamie and Nash looks like they're crazy, and then they start drying laughing. What?!
"Why are you laughing?!" Maggie asks. "That is one of the saddest movies!"
"Because of your reactions! You're all like bawling, it's hysterical!" Nash says.
"Ah, okay, I see. You're laughing because you two have no hearts." Hanna jokes. Nice one, Han!
"I guess you could put it like that..." Jamie says.
I look at the time, just out of curiosity, and realize that we need to leave. We're supposed to be at sound check in 10 minutes, and the place is a half hour away.
"You guys, not to interrupt your bickering, but we need to go!!" I tell everyone, and we all quickly grab our things, and get into the car.

The False Paladin
Divine Paladins, a title given to those who were blessed with the Lord's Favor, are the pillars of the kingdom of Calorin. However, a kingdom cannot simply be built from ideals of honor and duty. Sir Roel, the 58th Divine Paladin, knows that he's no hero. His sword is fake, his actual powers are middling, and his thoughts grow more cynical with every passing day. Upon receiving his next task, an order to assassinate a member of royalty, he wonders if the only thing he can do is bow his head and obey. Set in a medieval-era world in which brute strength is often subordinate to the schemes and machinations of the ruling class, this is a low fantasy story about a hero who struggles not only against monsters but also the idea that he's supposed to be the one fighting them. This fiction updates once to twice a week and each chapter is a minimum of 1000 words.

The London Phantom: A Superhero Webnovel
London is an old city. It has survived floods, fires, plagues and the man-made smog of industry. It has stood firm against the armies of Vikings, Saxons, Normans and the aerial might of the Luftwaffe. It has borne witness to dynsatic feuds, civil wars, military occupation and the sin of regicide. Through all these disasters the city has survived not through force of arms, though its walls were once the envy of the world, but through adapting to the times. Enemies become dependant on the city, and the wealth of the world that flows through it, and so become new allies. If the rulers change, then the city welcomes them with open arms, and open lines of credit. In this way the city seeks to preserve its ancient rights and position of power. Superheroes are a new phenomenon. The first superpowered man walked out of the Nevada desert in 1950, and the world was forever changed. Across the planet, men and women with exceptional abilities made themselves known. At first, they were little more than another source of fear in the era of Mutually Assured Destruction, but over time attitudes changed and the concept of the Superhero was created in the city of Los Angeles. From there the phenomenon spread across the globe; superheroes went from being feared arms of the state to a symbol of hope in these maddening times. Times have changed. Sixty years from the emergence of the first superhero, the City of London stands on a precipice. Two years have passed since the madman Fawkes nearly brought down the United Kingdom and the remnants of the Bow Street Runners, London's premier superhero team, are struggling to keep order in a city that seems on the brink of collapse. London stands on a knife's edge, with criminal organisations that once stuck to the shadows becoming more bold, and ancient powers from myth and legend making themselves known. Alexander Laszewski has recently 'awakened' and has become entirely unremakable, effectively making himself invisible to the world. He must use his newfound power to navigate a city on the edge of collapse. If only he could figure out how to turn it off.
