The Only One
Chapter 3
Today, Bex and TJ, our other best friend, are dragging me to Santa Monica. Oh Joy. It's not that I don't like company, and it's not like I don't like to go out, but I just need time still to process that I hugged Ryan.
"B, do I really need to go?" I ask when TJ and Bex arrive at my house.
"Yes. You're coming." Bex says, and I look to TJ for back up.
"Oh no, Han, you have to come." He says.
"But whyyyyyyy?" I complain.
"Because we all need a day out together. And today is the day."
"Alright, alright. Just let me get changed." I say, aggravated.
I quickly run up to my room and change into a pair of ripped jeans, just like Ryan's, and an American Flag tank top, just like Ryan's. Then I slip on a pair of flip flops, and brush my teeth, and I curl my hair just a bit.
Within 15 minutes, I'm back downstairs, saying, "I'm ready to go, guys."
"Thank god! It took long enough!" TJ says to me.
"Hey, I need to look good."
"Yeah, look good like Ryan, apparently..." He says, extremely sarcastically.
"Wow, I'm so proud that you knew that!!" I exclaim.
"Ha-ha."
"Are we ready?!" Bex asks.
"Yes, let's go." We say at the same time, and head off to the beach with our bags in hand.
***
When we get to the beach, we jump out of the car, and I look toward the Ferris wheel. This is one of the times I sooo wish I had a boyfriend to go on it with me. (And not just because they scare me half to death.)
"Han, c'mon, we're going to get popcorn." Bex says. Not surprising really. We're only here 2 minutes and already they're getting food.
We get them their popcorn, and then walk down the beach. TJ threw a tennis ball at us and we both ran to get it, but knocked each other down in the process... Great, now I have sand all over my jeans! Ryan's jeans!

"Haha, thanks, Bex!" I say, half joking, yet half serious. I'm honestly pretty upset about my jeans.
"You're welcome!" She says all too seriously.
"I'm going to the bathroom," I say, and try to get the sand off of me. As I walk toward the bathrooms, I see and all too familiar American flag tank top. It's Ryan....
ITS RYAN!
IT'S RYAN FOLLESE!!
RYAN FOLLESE IS HERE!!!
RYAN FOLLESE AND I ARE WEARING THE SAME SHIRT!!!!
I look at him with a weak smile, and he gives me a scared smile in return.
"Um, hey, Ryan. What's up?" I ask nervously, looking down at my shirt.
He smiles at me and says, "Hey Hanna! Nice shirt!"
I look at my outfit again. "Aaah, thanks, you too..."
"You know, it's really great to see you again. What'd you think of the show?" He asks.
"It was great, Ryan! I had an amazing time! And getting to rap with you made it even better! I'm still in totally shock and I really can't believe I'm talking to you right now!" I laugh nervously.
"Hey, just act normal. Act like I'm your best friend." Pft, like I could ever act like that!
"Now that would be a dream come true." I say.
Ryan laughs the slightest bit, and says, "So was last night your first show?"
"First show? No way. That was 6th! I've come to just about every show around here, just trying to get you guys to notice me!" I exclaim with a smile.
"Wow, now that's dedication!"
"At least someone gets it! Everyone calls me obsessed! Which, yeah, of course, I may be, but dedicated sounds soo much better!" I laugh.
"Definitely." He replies with another irresistible smile.
I'm about to reply when I see Jamie walking over toward us. As soon as he sees me, he gave Ryan this...this look. A look that could only be exchanged by brothers, and it made me feel pretty awkward...
"You know, Ryan, I should probably be getting back to my friends..." I say.
"Are you sure? Jamie was just coming over to tell me it was time to go play a game of volleyball that we signed up for. You can join our team if you want, we need one more player." He explains.

I look to Jamie to confirm that it's okay I play, and he just shakes his head as if to say "yes".
"Sure, I'll play." I smile. "Just let me change, I don't wanna get sand all over these jeans...well, more sand all over these jeans."
"Sure, we'll all be over near those swings." Jamie smirks.
I go to change into a pair of denim cut off shorts, and I put on a red with white polka dot bikini top, and walk back to over to the gang.
"It's great to meet you all again." I say.
"You too!" Ian and Nash say in unison. Creeeepppyyy.
"Are you ready for the game?" Ryan asks.
"Of course!" I say, following them over toward the net. I wonder who we'll be playing...
As we approach the net, I notice a few familiar faces. Chord, Maggie, Anna, Summer, and ugh, Ryan's ex-girlfriend Monica.
Can someone tell me why Monica is here? She broke Ryan's heart, and I can guarantee that Ryan does not want her here!
I look over to Ryan, and he has a weird expression on his face, and then Jamie walks over to Ryan and whispers, "I'm sorry, RK! I didn't know Monica would be here!" And Ryan just shakes his head in return.
I walk up behind Ryan, and smile, and he just gives me an uncomfortable smile in return.
We immediately start the game, and quickly take the lead. In our game, we're playing to 30, and we're already at 18.
In the end, we take the win, and Ryan and I quickly leave the game, going to find Bex and TJ.
"Look, Hanna," Ryan stops me. "I'm so sorry if I made that game uncomfortable for you, that was never my intention."
"It's cool, it was a fun game."
"You sure?"
"100%." I smile back.
"Good, now let's go find your friends." He says, taking my hand and dragging me toward the water.
I quickly spot B and TJ, but not in the position that I would've pictured.
THEY WERE KISSING!
SINCE WHEN WERE MY TWO BEST FRIENDS TOGETHER?!
I look in horror over to Ryan, who tries to give me a comforting look.
I clear my throat, causing both Bex and TJ to jump.
"Look, Han..." Bex begins.
"No. I don't need an explanation, I just want an answer. How long has it been?"
"Two months..." TJ says.
"TWO MONTHS?! My two best friends have been together for two months and haven't told me??"
"I was going to tell you last night, Han, but you were so happy about Ryan, and I just didn't wanna ruin that!" She says, and quickly glances at Ryan. This is so awkward... More so because Ryan is standing right next to me...!
"Thanks, but I think I'd've rather known." I say a bit sarcastically.
"We didn't try to make you mad, Han!" Bex says.
"B, you should know me by now. I'm not mad, I'm hurt." I say and turn away, ready to drag Ryan with me.
"Han, wait!" TJ says.
"Hold it, TJ." I say, and storm off with Ryan at my side. "Ryan, I'm sorry. I'm totally acting like a stubborn, spoiled brat, but we've always told eachother everything, and now suddenly that's changed, and it just...it hurts." I say, holding in tears.
"Hey, c'mere." He says, and pulled me into a bear hug, and I let out a few tears.
I pull away from Ryan, and say, "Thank you, Ryan. I'm really not usually like this."
"No, Han, you're fine." He says, and wipes a few tears away from my face. "Everything will be fine, as long as you have me, everything will work its way out." And for a second, I start to believe that.

My Hundredth Life
I was an ordinary guy, living an ordinary life, until it happened. What we came to call the "Reality Break". Monsters started spawning in the streets, Mana flowed through our veins, Skills and Abilities were unlocked, and everyone had a Status Screen. I was living my dream, an RPG apocalypse! Until I died, that is. And woke up in a new world...where I died again. And again. With each death, a new incarnation, a new game world, and new scars upon my soul. Now, at my 99th death, I just wish it would end...but unlike in some of the worlds I have "played" in, this time my wish is not granted. *** Author's Note: This is my first 'serious' attempt at writing a story. I am hoping to turn ths into a series that I can publish to Amazon, but my life is a bit hectic right now, so I can't make any guarantees. However, I have serious reasons for writing at this point in my life, so I will do my best to provide this new twist to the LitRPG genre and keep it up for as long as possible. Thank you, to anyone who reads this. *Also, tags might change depending on how the story goes, there may be mild profanity or mild sexual content, but I have not decided yet.
