Tyler was crying, and it was for the dumbest reason ever.

He was watching the season five finale of Supernatural. He had seen it before, of course, and he hadn't cried. So why was he crying now?

He was home alone, so at least his pathetic sobbing wasn't embarrassing. Josh had told him to stay home from school, and Tyler was more than happy to do so. Josh, however, couldn't miss a day. He was already behind because of the change in curriculums, so he had to work extra hard to pass. To make matters worse, he had decided to take a bunch of AP classes. Tyler thought that he was the most stupid smart person that he had ever met.

Tyler twirled his spoon between his fingers. The tub of vanilla ice cream in his hand was melting, but he didn't mind. Personally, he liked it better that way. He knew that Josh would be mad, but he wasn't worried. Josh being mad was more whining than yelling.

Tyler checked his phone, his eyes widening when he realised that Josh would be home any second. He wiped his cheeks and rushed to put the ice cream away. He noticed that he had spilt some on his shirt -which was actually Josh's shirt- and cursed under his breath. He went to the sink and washed it about, cringing at the giant wet patch on his chest. He sat back down with a sigh and continued to watch the TV.

When Josh eventually entered, he looked suspicious. "Are you okay?" He asked.

Tyler let his shoulder's droop. "It's a really sad episode."

Josh laughed and dropped his bag to the ground. "Oh, yeah? What's happening?"

"Sam's possessed by Lucifer," Tyler replied.

Josh hummed. "What season is this?"

"Season five."

"How many are there?"

"Fifteen."

Josh raised his eyebrows. "What?"

Tyler smiled. "Impressive, right?"

"Slightly ridiculous, but yeah," Josh chuckled.

He sat down next to Tyler. They were close, but not touching. Josh still didn't want to cross any boundaries. Tyler hadn't spoken about the Eddie incident since it had happened, and Josh didn't want to force him into speaking. He wasn't sure how to deal with the situation; no one that he knew had gone through something like that. He didn't even want to think about it himself- he got too angry when he dwelled on the fact that a monster like Eddie could ever touch Tyler. It hurt even more to remember that they dated.

"You good?" Tyler asked.

Josh blinked. "Huh?"

Tyler snuggled into Josh's arm, making the older boy's heart stutter. He had been scared to touch Tyler, and he was beyond relieved to know that he could.

"I asked if you were okay," Tyler said. "You were staring off into space."

Josh smiled and kissed Tyler's forehead. "I'm okay. Are you?"

Tyler nodded. "I am now."

They sat in silence for a while, watching the TV, before Tyler spoke up.

"How was school!" He asked. "Was Ashley worried?"

"Definitely," Josh replied, remembering the girl's complete panic at Tyler's absence. "I didn't tell her what happened."

"Thanks," Tyler mumbled.

"Are you gonna tell her?"

Tyler hesitated. "Probably. It's just... hard, and I have no idea why. Y'know, I never actually came out to her. She doesn't know about Eddie."

"She doesn't?" Josh repeated. "Didn't he hit you?"

"Yeah," Tyler whispered.

Josh felt his heart drop. "You had no one."

Tyler wiped his eyes before the tears could fall. "I guess."

Josh rested his head on Tyler's and closed his eyes. "Well, you've got me now. Remember that, 'kay?"

Tyler nodded. "Okay."

Josh but the inside of his cheek before he could say anything else. There was something that he was itching to say, but he couldn't. It was too soon, and Tyler wasn't in the right headspace for the news that Josh so desperately wanted to deliver. He turned his attention back to the TV and ignored the ache in his chest.

After a while, Tyler stopped making comments about whatever was happening during the show. Josh looked down and smiled when he saw that he was asleep. He gently readjusted Tyler so his neck wouldn't hurt in the morning and turned off the TV. He closed his heavy eyelids and quickly slipped into a much-needed sleep, unplagued with his usual nightmares and memories.

He could get used to more sleeps like that.
