It was the night of the dinner. I anxiously walk downstairs. I check my phone, it was only 6:45 and Rodrick and his family were supposed to come at 7pm.

Mom is preparing food in the kitchen and Dad is on the phone with someone from work. I glance over at my phone one more time to see a text from Rodrick.

❤️How awkward do you think tonight will be?

Sooo awkward, i'm not ready :(

❤️It'll be fine, atleast we'll be together

Aww that's so cute

But my parents are psycho, it's going to be so awkward.

I turn off my phone and check the time.

It was 6:53 now. I decide to text Kim and Madison.

GUYSS i'm freaking out my parents are going to meet Rodrick.

It'll be fine stop worrying

I'm already ready

Stop being so scared, If you freak out you can text us but for now GOOO!!

I rolled my eyes. I knew Madison was right but I was never going to admit it.

Then suddenly I saw Mr.Heffleys car pull up outside our house.

I frantically get ready as my mom runs up to the open the front door.

I saw Mr and Mrs.Heffley at the front along with Rodrick behind them with Greg and Manny in the distance.

My mom greets the family and they step inside.

As Rodrick walks in, he nervously greets my father.

"Hello Mr.Anderson it's good to finally meet you"

"So this is the person who is dating my daughter? bring it in" My das says hugging Rodrick.

Rodrick looks so confused as I laugh at him.

Greg walks in looking so bored.

"Sorry you had to come" I tell him jokingly

"I just want to be playing video games" he complains.

"Me too" I say.

We all make our way to the dining table. My dad sits at the head of the table, with Mr. Heffley sitting on the other head. Mom sits next to Dad and I sit across from her with Rodrick. Mrs.Heffley sits next to Rodrick with Greg and Manny across her.

The whole dinner was filled with awkward small talk. The parents were talking about school stuff and Greg was trying to play on his phone every few minutes but his mom always caught him.

"So this is pretty boring huh?" Rodrick says quietly to me. "Yeah it is they've been talking for so long" I say talking about our parents. He laughs.

"What are you guys talking about?" Mrs.Heffley asks me.

"Ohh nothing, we're just talking about class" I lie. She faces my parents, "You guys must be so proud, your daughter successfully tutored Rodrick and got his grades up"

My parents look at eachother surprised. "We didn't know that, good job Y/N"

This dinner was really awkward.
