(Aha, this story will be getting fairly interesting soon enough. I mean, a reader that is almost fearless in Horrortale? A little bit different, but still interesting haha. Anyway, Enjoy!~)
---(Y/n)'s Pov---
"How did you know about the ketchup?" Flowey asked as I gave him my attention. I offered him a confused look as I skillfully evaded several unusual puzzles through his guidance. "I mean... how did you know that it would calm him down?"
"I didn't." I admitted blankly as we soon came upon the long bridge that would connect us to Snowdin. I wasn't bothered by heights or anything, but this bridge looked as if it's seen better days. "I didn't even know if the ketchup would be useful or not."
"Useful? Are you crazy or something?" Flowey suddenly screeched as I started to carefully move across the bridge. "There is no greater ally to you in all of the Underground other than that bottle of ketchup!"
"Heh. I guess it was a good idea to bring two." Once I mentioned this, the flower's eye widened in surprise.
"You HAVE another one of those? That's like... a freebie for dealing with Sans!" He said with newfound excitement. Finally I managed to reach the other side of the bridge, causing me to sigh in relief that I didn't fall. "And trust me, Sans is the worst one down here. He is just too unpredictable, you never know what that guy is thinking."
"Yeah. I haven't been scared of anything for awhile now... but him? That skeleton makes me feel nervous." I guess that having a conversation like this with my guide wasn't a bad idea... I couldn't just be rude to him. "Hmm... feels like a magical shift in the atmosphere. The snow is going to pick up soon."
"Really? You can sense that?" He suddenly asked as I gave him a small nod. It's just like Gaster said, I have a unique Soul that represents perception. That doesn't mean that I know everything, but I am quite alert to my surroundings.
Moving faster against the cold snow, I was starting to look around for Sans... I thought that he'd be here by now, trying to harass me in some way. But I guess that Flowey said it best. Sans is unpredictable.
Soon we finally managed to arrive in Snowdin. The town seemed dead, nowhere near as lively as Gaster once mentioned. Pulling my black scarf higher due to the bloodthirsty looks that I was receiving, I couldn't help but feel concerned. These monsters were looking at me as if I were a piece of meat... but in their minds, I guess that I was. "Avoid eye contact..."
When Flowey whispered this, I decided to pick up my pace. No doubt Papyrus would be passing through soon enough, assuming that Sans told him about me showing up. Of course, he'd probably leave out the fact that I gave him the cold shoulder.
I decided to take some of the more quiet paths through the town. Monsters were sizing me up by now, probably in the hopes that they could hunt me down and put me on their dinner table.
Once Flowey and I reached the skeleton brother's home, I was quick to move around to the back of the house where the shed was. My guide seemed a little bit unsure as I pulled the same pins that I used earlier from my (H/c) hair.

Crouching in front of the door, I tried to pick the lock with no avail. The door was sealed shut, not opening anytime soon. "What a nuisance... this lock is uniquely coated with some type of magic. I need a key to get it open."
"Where are we going to find a damned key?" I could tell the flower dreaded my next words, and quite honestly... so did I. I just wanted this job to be over with, finish it without worrying about looking over my shoulder every ten seconds.
"Well, I do know where it is... but I would much prefer to avoid going into that psychopath's room." Flowey paled when I said this, quickly realizing that I was referring to Sans.
"Is... whatever your looking for REALLY worth your life?" He asked, causing me to pause before slowly offering a nod.
"I keep my promises. Besides..." I started to add while heading towards the front door with my pins in hand. "It's not like I have anything to go back to."
"Seriously, no family? Nothing?"
I didn't respond as I got to work on the lock. Honestly, I knew that I would have to explain my intentions to Flowey soon enough. However, I wanted to be in a more... comfortable location first. Not only was I cold, but I didn't want anyone to eavesdrop.
Although I was fairly certain of my success rate with the Core's revival, I didn't want to give anyone false hope. That could cause a lot of problems...
A small clicking sound came from the door to signify that it was opened as I entered the house. Flowey raised an eyebrow at my ability to easily pick locks... but he didn't really question it. He knew that there would be a more appropriate time to ask such questions.
Entering the home, I noticed that a lot of the house was covered in blood and dust. The green couch was very tattered with pieces of stuffing missing from it. On the floor was also a sock... with a lot of notes attached to it. I didn't dare to explore since I only really had one task. Get into the right room upstairs. "This is crazy..."
When Flowey whispered that, I nodded in understanding. I started to carefully move up the stairs, soon finding the room that I was looking for. Strangely enough, there were flames poking out from under the door... but I wouldn't really dwell on that.
Testing the door first, I discovered that it was unlocked... useful, but not very reassuring. I made sure to not allow it to creak, that was a small practice that I managed to successfully do over time... and that is when I saw something that made me freeze.
Sans.
Sans was unconscious, laying on his bed with the bottle of ketchup firmly clutched in his hand. Now knowing that he was an insomniac, this would be almost impossible to preform... and I don't think that he'll be too happy about me sneaking into his house. This is quite a pain.
I could tell that Flowey wanted to yell at me to run, but... I couldn't. I needed to do this.
So with a decent amount of determination, I walked into the room. The smell of decaying corpses and must was quick to make itself known... though I really wasn't bothered by it in the slightest. Along the floor was also blood stains and scratch marks. Almost like his last target was trying to claw their way out of his room.

Moving towards his drawers on the opposite side of the room from his bed, I quietly started to pull them apart. I found a few more blue hoodies and shorts that were scattered, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I needed the key. My hands moved through the third drawer a bit more until my fingers managed to brush up against a cold metal object.
Pulling it out, I was content to find the key that I was looking for. Now to sneak back out.
Looking towards the skeleton, I noticed that his body was facing in my direction. I didn't want to assume anything... but was he maybe...
awake?
If he really was stalking me, then I would have to be quick about this. Since his shed was actually a lab, I was hoping to spend some time working in there, maybe rest for a little.
Flowey seemed to also be suspicious, but not enough to care since we were both currently standing in Sans' room. Slowly, I walked out of the bedroom. The old floor surprisingly never creaked once during my escape. It was a good thing that I spent most of my life stealing and doing... terrible acts of violence.
Taking one last look at Sans before I left, I noticed that he didn't even have a blanket covering him. In fact, there was a strange torn sheet rolled up in a ball next to him. Was he too lazy to consider something like... folding?
When I turned away to leave, I never once noticed the Skeleton's crimson eye snap open to continue staring at me with curiosity. Yes, he was playing a game before the slaughter... but he was also interested. "SANS. WHERE ARE YOU? YOU LEFT YOUR POST! DID YOU SEE THE HUMAN?"
Thankfully, I never managed to get down the stairs. Moving towards the other room that probably belonged to Papyrus, I decided to enter it and hide for the time being. Fortunately, unlike Sans' room, there was a window.
The space itself was much better kept than the previous bedroom that I was just in. The smell wasn't as awful, blood stains were not visible on the floor... however, the bed that was in the shape of a race car seemed somewhat damaged.
Moving towards the window, I could hear the taller skeleton marching up the stairs. He wasn't exactly discreet for a monster that hunted humans for the use of consumption.
Fortunately, after a lot of effort, the window finally managed to creak open. It was just enough to slip my body through, and then pull my bag out as well. "That was close... too close!"
Nodding in agreement with the flower as I closed the window, I then proceeded to jump down to the snowy ground. Fortunately, the white icy fluff broke my fall as I went over to the shed.
Taking out the key, I used it on the lock to open the door before deciding to slip inside the secret laboratory. Walking down some stairs that led into the unique room, I was thankful to discover that everything seemed intact. Sure there were a lot of spider webs, but it wouldn't be enough to stop me from preforming. "I didn't even know that this was here... huh..."
"Now, where is it..." I mumbled to myself as my hands searched through several boxes. Sure there were many different tools and components, but I was looking for something else. And then I saw it, a blue wire that was only about eight inches in length. It was a special connector for the Core's energy sector. "Perfect. And it isn't damaged."
"THAT is what we came here for?" Flowey suddenly asked, causing me to nod. "What... does it even do?"
"I'll tell you, however... I wish to keep my intentions a secret." I carefully said as the Flower slowly nodded. He looked up at me with his single green eye, obviously interested in an answer. "An... associate of mine."
No, that didn't seem like the right way to word it. "I mean, more or less a partner."
Flowey nodded in my direction to show that he was trying to follow where I was going with this. "Back on the surface, I made them a promise. I agreed to come down here to initiate repairs on the primary energy source that upholds stabilization for the Underground."
"Wait... you mean the Core?!" I wanted to continue speaking, but the creaking sound of a door opening caught me off guard. This time, I knew that I might not have a decent way out. There was only one exit, and I didn't know if I could make it.
"Flowey, get off of me for a moment. I think that this might be problematic."
The flower complied as I quickly moved to stash my bag away in a drawer that I found, but not before snatching a bag of cookies to eat in case of whatever was about to happen. Flowey also moved to hide as the stairs creaked with the added weight of someone's steps.
Suddenly, as if no one were there, the steps completely vanished. Sensing something behind me, I threw my body towards the floor in a hurried attempt at dodging an axe before it could cut off my head.
"Boo," By the sound of the voice, I could tell that Sans was behind me. I spun around, only to be hit over the head with the handle of his axe. Laying my back against the ground, I couldn't help but groan in pain. "What's wrong, kid? You look like you've seen a ghost. Heh..."
"No... I'm just not use to some skeletal sociopath that likes to scare the life out of people." My response was almost flawless, until another hit came from the skeleton's weapon to knock me out.
"Well, the last human is almost completely eaten. We'll just keep you around until we need... a hand or two. heh."
