《The Kanej Story [COMPLETED]》Mistake

It had been a week since Inej left and she had not captured a single slaver, she hadn't even raided one freaking boat. She just couldn't get her head in the game.
All she could think about was the look of anguish on Kaz’s face, as she sped away on her boat. But against her better judgement she had stayed a little while longer just to see Kaz pull himself out of the water.
He looked absolutely destroyed and he was soaking wet, and worst of all he was limping really badly. The loser had forgot his cane when he had chased after her.
That was the thing that was nagging at her though. Why had he chased after her? Kaz was unpredictable but he always made a calculated move. And he had showed weakness by chasing after her.
Weakness in the barrel was not appreciated and it earned you no respect. And he must of known that this would happen sooner or later. Inej was never going to stay there and be stranded like before. She didn't have anything tying her to Ketterdam besides her friends and they would understand.
She could leave and never come back, and yet what had been keeping her there? She knew exactly what it had been, or more likely who. That little creepy genius had wormed his way into her heart, and he wasn't leaving anytime soon apparently. She had warned herself about this. Why did it matter?
She told him she would not love him if he hid behind his armour. And he never gave it up, so therefore she shouldn't care. But she did. Love was not so easily given up. And because she loved him was the reason she was worried sick about him, alone back at Ketterdam. She had left him in the Harbor! That had been her decision and she felt awful about it. Because she loved him is why she shouted at her crew to turn the boat around. She was going home. Because that’s what Kaz was. He was home, no matter how he felt.

She was going to get some answers from Kaz Brekker! And if she didn't, she would have to learn to let him go.
