《Soulmates/ Jolby》Chapter ten

It's been two weeks since Sam became a vampire, and Colby is still feeling guilty about not getting there sooner. Him feeling guilty is why Jake is trying to get Colby out of bed at the moment. Everyone in the house has tried, even baby Sarah, but no one has succeeded.
"Babe, you need to get up." Jake says while playing with Colby's hair.
"You know I can't." Colby replies.
"Yes you can. I've told you already that Sam doesn't blame you for anything. You did what you could." Jake gently tells him.
"I'm a failure." Colby mumbles.
Jake gets annoying when Colby says this, and he stands up.
"Colby Brock! You get your ass out of bed right now! You are an Alpha, so start to act like one." Jake yells.
The Alpha comment is what gets Colby, 'I've been ignoring my Alpha duty's because I wanted to wallow in self pity. Pathetic.' He thinks to himself.
Without saying anything to Jake, Colby gets up and gets dressed. He smiles at a shocked Jake, and heads for the stairs.
When he gets downstairs, Colby is bombarded with questions left and right.
"How are you, Alpha?"
"Are you okay, man?"
"Why did you leave us?"
"Why didn't you come to us?"
Colby, deciding to answer all the questions with one sentence, says "Guys, I just needed some time. I'm fine now. Did anyone make breakfast?"
The pack notice their Alpha is back to being himself, and bring him to the table where they have breakfast set out for everyone. Before anyone could dig in, there is a knock at the door.
"I'll get it!" Kat yells.
Colby is just about to get a sip of his orange juice when Kat says, "Colby, I need you out here." She sounded a bit on edge.
Colby quickly makes his way over to the door. When he gets there, there is a man, probably in his early 30's.
"Hi. My name is John, and I'm here to get my pack member, Sarah back to our territory." He says with a smile.
Colby is instantly suspicious of the man, 'Didn't her Alpha die?' With one look over to Kat, Colby can tell she's thinking the same thing.

"I'm sorry, man. I have no idea who Sarah is, but I would be glad to help you if I can." Colby replies trying to get the creep off his porch.
"Wait! How did you get through the gate. . .?" Kat asks.
"Oh! It was open." This so called John smiles at them.
"Okay, I'm sorry I bothered you." He replies, but the smile is now gone.
The man was quick to leave the house. Colby and Kat watch as the man leaves, looking as if he's done something wrong.
"What was that about?" Kat asks Colby.
The suspicious look on Colby's face is still there when he says, "I have no idea, but I intend to find out."
Kat walks into the living room where Sam, Colby and Jake are sitting. Kat is carrying little Sarah with her.
"Guys, we're all going shopping together today!" Kat says with a smile.
The boys look at her like she's crazy, "Why. . . ?" Colby asks.
"Well, Sarah needs some clothes and as her dad and her uncles, you guys have to come." Kat explains.
"Yeah!" Sarah adds with a smile.
"If Sarah wants us to go, we'll go." Jake says with a smirk.
"I want you all to come, Jakey." Sarah says while going up to him.
"I don't know. . ." Sam says playfully.
Sarah walk up to Sam and climbs on to his lap.
"Pleaseee, Daddy!" She begs him.
"Okay, I guess. Now, go back up the stairs with Mommy, and get dressed." Sam says with a small smile.
Sarah doesn't go up the stairs until she gives her daddy and her two uncles a kiss.
"She's too sweet." Colby says to the two boys.
"Yeah, She is. We better go get ready." Sam tells the boys.
Colby and Jake head up to their room and get ready. Once they get back downstairs, Sarah and her parents are already down there.
"Yay! Let's go!" Sarah yells with excitement.
•••
The group walk into the mall heading for some little kid stores to get Sarah clothes and toys. The boys have agreed to make sure Sarah gets her own room, so the roommates have agreed to move somewhere bigger. Colby has always wanted a huge Pack house, so he is very excited about having one.

After shopping in a few stores, Sam tells Colby that they have a house to look at. Colby calls Aaron, Corey, and Dev so they can meet them at the address.
•••
On the way over to the address, Colby notices that they are far back into the woods.
"This seems secluded." Sam comments.
"I like it." Colby replies with a smile.
The rest of the ride was quiet until they got to the house. The house was beautiful. It had a cabin look to it, and it was plenty big enough for all of them.
Colby has fallen in love with the house, and he can tell the others have too.
"I think we've found our new house guys." Corey says to everyone.
•••
"Guys! You better start packing! It's our last day!" Aaron yells up the stairs.
Colby is packing up his stuff in his room, while Jake is in his packing up what's not in Colby's room. Colby believes that this house will not only be big enough for all of them, but it will be a new start. He is also excited for the woods, so he can freely run around.
'Sam and I can go on runs together.' He thinks to himself with a smile.
After an hour of packing, Colby is finally all packed. He takes his boxes downstairs, and puts them with everyone else's for the movers to take.
Colby walks back up the stairs to see how Jake is doing with packing. When he walks into Jake's room he sees Jake sitting in the middle of his room folding clothes and putting them into a box, while Sarah helps him. Colby smiles at the two of them, loving that they're getting along so well. Sarah looks over at Colby and smiles.
"Uncle Colby! Me and Jakey are packing!" Sarah says while she come up to Colby and pulls him over to where Jake is.
"I see that." Colby chuckles.
"Did you pack, Pup?" Colby asks the little girl.
The little girl nods her head, "Yeah! Mommy and Daddy helped me!" She giggles.
"Well, that's lovely. Can you go downstairs and get Jake and I another box, love?"
The little girl nods and skips off down the stairs. The two boys she left behind chuckle at her as she leaves.
"Looks like you made some progress." Colby says while sitting next to Jake.
"Sort of. You know I procrastinate." Jake replies with a sigh.
Colby laughs at his boyfriend before he pulls him into a hug.
"Well, you wouldn't be Jake if you didn't."
Jake chuckles and buries his head into Colby's neck.
"I love you." Jake sighs.
Colby laughs, "I love you, little one."
•••
"Guys! It's time to go!" Colby yells up the stairs.
It's the last day in the Trap House, and Colby is currently trying to get everyone downstairs. Everything has been moved over to the new house, and everyone has set up their rooms. It's just move in day now.
"Guys! We have to go!" Colby yells again.
This time everyone walks down the stairs ready to go.
"New house, here we come!" Jake yells while running out the door.
•••
It's the first night in the new house, and Colby isn't even inside. He's running around the woods in wolf form.
'I could get used to this.' Colby thinks to himself.
Colby runs a few more feet, when he comes across a waterfall. He jumps into the water, and enjoys the coolness that hits his body.
'Even though I'm enjoying this, I better get back.' Colby runs of in the direction of the house.
Once Colby gets back and unlocks the door, he finds the house in chaos. Everyone is running around frantically. They only stop when Colby growls from the doorway.
"What's going on!" He yells.
"Colby, Sarah's gone! Someone took her!" Sam cries out.
"What. . . ?"
"Sarah is gone!"
Colby walks up to his best friend and holds him.
"I'll find her, Sam." Colby whispers.
"Whoever took my Pup is going to die!" Colby growls out.

Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Whatever that is. Unlike most dungeon cores, though, she's missing something very important. A dungeon. Stuck out in the open, above ground where she's definitely not supposed to be, with not a cave in sight, or any other land form besides miles and miles of ice and snow, Devin's not sure if she can survive. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. I will rewrite this at some point and make it so it actually has plot. Check out my wordpress © [koallary] and [Haven in a Dangerous World], [2017].
