《{ enchanted forest }》12. { in the name of the brother }

His jaw was locked in anger and he was picking with his thumb under his fingernails as he stares off into nowhere. It was absolutely silent, not even the rushing of the bushes breaks the silence. He was sitting on a trunk, closely watched by his good friend. His friend threw his hood off and reveals his messy blonde hair.

"He has gone too far, Felix. He must be punished for what he did to her," Peter Pan hisses through gritted teeth. He thinks about all that his spy had done during the Dark Curse. How he had harassed Winter while he was supposed to observate her. What mischievious thoughts he had in mind when he pictured her.

He picks a rock up and throws it against another tree, making a big dent in it by the force. "I want him bleeding for it," he snarls. With nothing left in his hands, he starts to play with the wooden ring around his right hand. It was made of entwined twigs with the occasional little leaf. A gift from a very special girl. A princess in name, but his queen.

"Max will be punished when he can actually leave the town without losing his memories. What is punishment when he can not remember what he did wrong," Felix suggests, careful not to raise his friend's anger even more. "That's true." Peter curls his upper lip up in distaste when thinking about the boy.

"Do you remember when we first met her, Felix?" The boy looks up from the sudden change of subject, but then.. Peter Pan did more things he did not understand, so could he be truly surprised? "Of course I do. When she walked upon that field, you told me she was special. That was the night she came here to Neverland with us." Peter grins at the long lost memory. Time worked differently in Neverland. What was like a few months in the Enchanted Forest were truly 10 years in Neverland. Ten long years of her being around him and them growing closer together. They started off as friends, became best friends and gradually turned to lovers.

She had even said yes to his proposal. His grin widens when he imagines how their souls would intertwine after their vows of matrimony. How powerful her love could make him. When she gives him her whole soul, take all of the love she could have for someone and put it in him, he would be unstoppable. He would still need the Heart of the Truest Believer to survive and stay on Neverland for longer, but that was an easy price to pay once he finds the boy in question. And if Winter would disagree, she would get over it.

At least, that's what he thought she would. The reality had been quite different from his imagination.

Felix looks at his friend, still deep in thought. In all secrecy he had cherised a little crush on the princess as well. Not that it could ever come true. She was Peter's and he would never let go off her. Almost like a little boy, obsessed with one toy. Just one he would never get bored of. There was no room for him and he knows what happens to people who cross Pan. He had seen it on the pirate and did not want the same for himself. It was better to push back his feelings than to express them, like Max had.

Because Max is now headed to torture that is unimaginable to even the wickedest of minds, as none of their minds are as wicked as that of Peter Pan.

Belle was struggling against the strange man that was holding her in his grip. Who was he and what right does he think he has to touch her like that? The sirens screech as Rumplestiltskin takes care of the bullet wound that Hook had made before being hit by a car. Belle was scared by the strange glowing and the sudden disappearance of the pain while the Dark One tries to soothe her worries.

The Charmings arrive on the scene and Emma calls for backup while David and Mary Margaret get to them. "What happened," David asks him. "She crossed over the line, she doesn't remember," Mr Gold responds, feeling the severity of the situation. She didn't remember him, their love of their family with their little girl who was now cursed. Everyone was out to take his loved ones away.. and he knows exactly who to blame for his loss of Belle.

Hook, now laying battered up on the ground with possibly broken ribs. "Did you see his face," he asks Emma, who was kneeled down by his side to inspect him," His One True Love, gone in an instant! Just like Milah, Crocodile.." Hook slowly tries to sit up as the person he was taunting struts towards him, leaning on his cane as he does so.

"When you took her from me." "But you took her first," Rumplestiltskin responds and he kicks him in the face. "Gold, are you insane," Emma yells at him as he tries to choke him with his cane. It takes both Emma and David to pull him away from his murderspree of vengeance.

The ambulance comes with back up and takes the mysterious stranger in the car, Belle and Hook with them. "Looks like the world just came to Storybrooke," Emma says. All the wounded were brought to the hospital and Rumple had gone to visit Belle when she was done being checked up. She was fast asleep.

Since the incident earlier that evening, Rumple had thought of ways that may help her remember him and found only one solution: True Love's kiss, as it can break any curse or spell. He watches the brunette's sleeping figure and leans in to kiss her. His lips brush softly against hers, truly hoping this was the solution. But when she opened her eyes and started screaming bloody murder, he knew that hope was lost.

So of course, as irritated as he was, he didn't exactly agree to Doctor Whale's request to help the mysterious stranger, apparently named Greg Mendell, when he was about to go home.

Still, he wasn't the man to give up without a fight. He might admit defeat for that evening, but he hasn't lost the war. A few days later he stood in his daughter's room, hoping to find an object that would connect to Belle. He had already the chipped cup in mind, but maybe if he can find Winter's book, given to her by Belle, she might recognise it too. Gold sees it laying on her nightstand and takes it with him.

He takes one last look at Winter before leaving the bedroom. Her brown curls were sprayed all over the soft cushions. She was dressed in a silk blouse with wide, short sleeves that reaches mid-rif and a pair of same coloured silk pants with wide legs that reach to half lower leg. Winter looks relaxed, as if she was really just taking a nap.

Her hands were folded over the blankets, laying on her stomach. Mr Gold walks to her side once again and looks her over. The brown ring of twigs around her finger was bothering him immensely. He didn't need to be reminded of the other bastard who once took her from him, so he takes it off her finger and makes it leave his house and appear in his shop through magic.

He lays his hand over hers and squeezes them. His other arm leans on the cushions as he leans forward to peck her on the head. "We will wake you, Winter, but now is not the time. You know just as well as I do how important and inevidable destiny is. You will understand with time.."

His hand brushes a few hair out of her face lovingly and leaves the bedroom, feeling angrier than before. When he was done with Hook, no one will ever dare to hurt one of his beloveds again. He will make sure of it.

Rumplestiltskin has taken the two objects into his hands and takes a deep breath. He has to believe that it will work. After all, someone taught him that sometimes you just needed to want it and then the magic would give him it. But of course, that was a whole other land. He gains the courage to knock on Belle's door, but eventually he does.

"Come in," she says with a soft voice. Gold opens the door and peeks around it. The brunette in the bed sees him and opens her mouth to send him away, but he begs her. "Please, I have to come in and show you something."

She feels pity for the man who has come here, hoping to make her remember the life she apparently had with him, so she agrees to let him come closer. It wouldn't do any harm to try, would it? Gold closes the door behind him and walks to her bedside, holding a delicate porcelain cup in his one hand, in the other a book. He can see the hesitance in her eyes as she catches glimpses of the two things.

"I know you don't remember, but just.. indulge me. Please," he asks of her. Belle takes the cup into her hands as the strange man asks her to be careful with it. "It's a- it's a cup," she says, seeing nothing special about it. "It's-it's damaged," Belle continues as she doesn't quite understand what he wants from her.

"Just.. look at it," the man tells her softly, "Focus, it's your talisman." "It's a cup," Belle repeats, trying to get through the man that it was nothing else but that, nothing special and certainly nothing special to her. "You dropped it.. in my castle. You were afraid that you had angered me," Mr Gold continues.

Belle starts to become frightened of the persistent guy. Couldn't he just take that stupid cup and leave? "Here," she says, stretching her hands out for him to take the cup back, "You-You need to go and take your cup, okay?" The man shushes her and tells her no, not only refusing to take the cup but also giving her the book.

"This is what you gave our daughter when she turned twelve. She still loves you for it and enjoys it every time she reads it. Focus, please," he begs her. "I charmed them. If you focus, it will work. It's magic," he says and Belle concludes that he is crazy.

"Wait, you say we have a child together," she screams, almost dropping the things in her hand because of the shock. Could she be a mother to this much older man's child? She was too young to be a mother to begin with! The man shushes her. "Oh, no no no, she's not biologically ours, we adopted her. She was your best friend and like our daughter to both of us. You love her like you loved me and we loved you back. Now, focus!"

"Okay, just go away, s-stop talking about magic and take your cup and your book," she says frantically, almost pushing the two items into his body. "Just look at them," Rumple begs, trying to remain calm although she makes it quite difficult. Belle releases a cry of frustration and throws them both harshly against the wall.

The cup shatters in tiny pieces and a page was brutally ripped from the book while others were damaged and the cover was slightly getting loose. For Rumple it was like a slap in his face as he stares at Belle with a face of 'how could you do that to me?' Because that was the question ringing in his head: how could you do that to me? How could you do that to us, to our family? To our daughter?

"Just go.. just to away," Belle begs. She was shivering in a combination of fear, confusion and anger. He nods his head and tries to hide his tears as he whispers that he is sorry and leaves the room.

I have failed you Belle. I have failed you, Winter. I have failed every person close to me in many different ways. But there is one person that he might not fail a second time. With a drop of blood and a truce present from Cora, he was able to locate his son in New York.

It might be time to cash in on the favor that Miss Swan still owes him..
